    Patio in rear of restaurant
    Stan C.

Meeting friends for lunch at noon on a Friday. Unfortunately, too warm out to eat on the patio. We were seated indoors in the back near the open kitchen. On the plus side, our server, Gustavo, was friendly and helpful. That's it for the positives. The negatives: Parking is non-existent. The only option is the valet ($7). The booth we were seated in (and all of the booths as far as I can tell) are bench seats that become fairly uncomfortable after a while. The noise level in our area of the restaurant made conversation a challenge. I shared a mushroom pizza ($23). A 12 inch thin crust pizza that was OK at best. Two of my friends got salads which were huge and they felt were excellent ($23). No free parking, unpleasant ambiance, and meh food at high prices for the area. There is little all eight of us agree on. With so many good restaurant options in the area, we all agreed that none of us are coming back.

Me and my partner absolutely love Jon & Vinny's! You can imagine our excitement when we found out they opened up a location in the valley. We usually go to the Brentwood or Fairfax locations. This location felt so inviting and spacious compared to the others. Our waitress was so attentive and made sure our food came out quickly & was super fresh. We ordered spicy fusilli (classic), radiatori pesto, garlic bread with parmesan, and our favorite pizza: little nats! Everything was so flavorful. Pro tip: if you order the little nats pizza, ask for a side of honey and drizzle it on top of the pizza. It compliments the flavors SO well. Can't wait to come here more in the future!

Excellent service and food! Great vibes! This location is excellent. Was definitely needed

One thing I really appreciate is the consistency. The food is always fresh and exactly what you expect. My husband has allergies to dairy and Mike always makes sure to check in with the kitchen hen to ensure they have made the necessary modifications. Last Wednesday, my friends and I sat at the bar, where Mike made our drinks (which were fantastic!) and took great care of us throughout the evening. We ordered several of the happy hour items that hit the spot. What really keeps us coming back is the staff. It's rare these days to find a restaurant where employees remember their regular customers, but Mike, Alicia, and Sam always make us feel welcome. They don't just recognize us, they genuinely engage in conversation and ask what we've been up to since our last visit. That personal touch makes a huge difference. Costco is currently selling Rosti gift cards, and I picked some up before reading the fine print! Unfortunately, they can't be used toward happy hour items, which was a bit of a disappointment. If that policy ever changes, we'd definitely find ourselves stopping by for happy hour much more often. We always enjoy our time at Rosti and look forward to our next visit!

We did a pickup order and the service was okay. Most of the employees didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Emily was easily the highlight here and kept us updated with our order. The food here was hit or miss. The panini and sandwich had really dry bread but the stuff inside was okay, though it did feel like they bought the ingredients a few days ago. The tiramisu was alright, the filet mignon sliders were nice and juicy, and the potatoes were well seasoned. Overall, there are definitely better Italian restaurants in the area at a far better value. I wouldn't come here again but was glad to try it.

Really nice ambiance, you can come dressed down or dressed up. The bar looks pretty inside and there are lots of tables inside and outside on their patio. Cristian was our waiter and he was great! We got the sauteed calamari to start. It came in a hot tomato bisque/broth and on the side there were a few pieces of bread which you could soak in the liquid. They could have been more generous with the bread, there was definitely more broth than the bread but it was overall a nice starter and great for sharing. For mains, we got the miso black cod and the king salmon. Both were tasty! The cod was flavorful and yummy, though if you've ever had/made miso black cod it tastes just like that. It came with crunchy sauteed snap peas which I really enjoyed. The salmon was a narrow but large portion and served with broccoli and rice. The salmon was cooked nicely, it was tender. Overall nice meal here! Good food, nice ambiance, good service. On the pricey side for what you get though, like most LA restaurants.

We sat outside surrounded by greenery, large umbrellas, and plenty of natural light. Even with a full patio, it still felt comfortable for a long lunch and conversation. I ordered the Pan Seared Salmon with a pistachio and coconut crust, roasted carrots, and cumin vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked beautifully, and I loved the texture from the crust. The roasted carrots added a little sweetness without competing with the fish. My friend had a salad topped with grilled chicken, and we shared an order of fries. I also had one of their cocktails, which arrived with an orchid garnish and felt perfect for an afternoon on the patio. Service was attentive throughout lunch, and we never felt hurried even as the patio stayed busy. Casaléna also offers valet, which I appreciated given the Ventura Boulevard location. Our waiter was so preoccupied cleaning tables that weren't his, talking to the bartender every now and then, and hiding in the kitchen that we barely saw him our entire meal. We had to ask bussers and other waiters to hope to place an order, and we watched multiple leave the restaurant because they also were not being waited to. It was definitely not a matter of being busy either, the restaurant was almost empty and it was still almost impossible to receiver service. When I received a visibly dirty plate, I watched the waiter stare directly at the dirt left on the plate and continue to give it to me. This specific waiter also kept wagging a finger at us to tell us to wait when we needed something simple like wanting to order our entrees or open a wine bottle, and would then proceed to talk to the bartender at the bar or stare from behind a counter. The few times when our waiter would come to us he would give us soundbytes to respond to which we thought was friendly conversation, but he would never respond back to us which felt incredibly condescending. This waiter felt the need to tell us that he wasn't ignoring us at the end of the meal but it was very clear he was when we watched him stare at us from behind a counter doing absolutely nothing. Our food came out lukewarm and it definitely didn't seem like it was because of the kitchen. When we asked to exchange our food we explained why and he blatantly didn't listen and asked us right after "what's the reason for returning your food?" I would have been more understanding if our waiter was more open with us about maybe having a long day or something, but the waiter was completely cold and mechanical. The only redeeming part about our meal and the reason I'll give this place an extra star, was that the manager saw our very visible discontent and offered desserts to compensate us for our experience. Thank you to upper management for at least being able to assess a situation that our waiter was clearly too jaded to see. If you're looking for an Italian restaurant or just a restaurant in general that does better at paying attention, try elsewhere at the Commons.

The service we received was also excellent, thanks especially to our server, Blake, who really made the experience more enjoyable. Star of the Night: Without a doubt, the focaccia was the best I've ever had. Perfectly fluffy, flavorful, and truly next-level. The pizza butter was a nice touch, though not as memorable as the bread itself. Appetizers: * Caesar Salad: I wasn't a fan of the presentation with the large anchovies on top. I don't mind anchovies in the dressing, but having them laid out on the salad wasn't appetizing. * Tempura Mushrooms: Great flavor, but they were overly fried, making them a bit too hard and masking the mushroom itself. The sauce that came with them was delicious, but there wasn't enough of it to balance out the crispiness. * Grilled Shrimp: Unfortunately, this one missed the mark. The plating was very plain compared to the other dishes, and the flavors just didn't come through. It felt like the dish could use a serious upgrade. * Hamachi Crudo: This was a highlight! The passion fruit purée paired beautifully with the fish, though the extra oil on the plate caused separation and made it hard for the sauce to stick. A small tweak here would make it perfect. Entrees: This is where the meal lost momentum. After the apps, it took about 30-45 minutes for the mains to arrive, which felt unnecessarily long since the full order had been placed upfront. By the time they arrived, the dishes themselves didn't really deliver. * Scallop Curry: Decent flavor, but the scallops could have used a much better sear to really shine. Something about the plate felt a little off-balance. * Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu: The pasta noodles were well-made, but the short rib lacked depth of flavor and tenderness. It seemed undercooked for what should have been a slow-braised, melt-in-your-mouth kind of meat. Overall, the dish was bland and uninspired. Drinks & Dessert: I skipped the cocktails because none really stood out, but the glass of wine I ordered was excellent. We also passed on dessert after waiting so long for the entrees. Final Thoughts: The restaurant has a lot of potential, the ambiance is beautiful, the focaccia is unforgettable, and the service (thanks to Blake) was wonderful. But the rest of the menu felt inconsistent, with several dishes needing more attention to detail in both flavor and presentation. I'm glad I finally tried it, but for me, the focaccia and service were the true highlights of the night.
