My husband and I moved into the neighborhood not too long ago and dined here last night. I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. Even had the food been simply okay, I would have liked the restaurant for the friendliness alone but I am pleased to report the food is fantastic! The garlic bread is buttery, well flavored, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The salad was a great starter with tasty dressing. My husband ordered the shrimp creole which he found to be fresh and flavorful. I had the eggplant rollatini which was delicious, especially the cheesy filling. As you enter, you must continue to walk all the way towards the wall on the left side, then make a right to the end. There is no table service. It's set up like an old school diner where you grab a tray, napkins, and utensils. The set up is a like a cafeteria style. You then are able to place your order. First time there, we informed the lady. The lady who helped us was very informative and giving the detail description of the food items. In addition, she even mentioned that it could be combined or choose a different add. I loved that (A+). Once you finish placing your orders, you push your tray around, self grab your choice of drinks. Behind there, there they have an ice and water machine (free of charge). As you continue to push through, they will serve your food. They also provide additional plates for sharing, if needed. The chef was making pizzas. At the end, you pay. We arrived here apparently before the dinner rush, which didn't matter because we still stood there waiting in the cafeteria style line to order for about 20 minutes. Just to order. Then we had to go sit at a table to wait to get our food for another 20 minutes. I had the half spaghetti and half ravioli dish. The ravioli dough was tough and didn't seem fully cooked and the sauce had almost no flavor until I put Parmesan cheese all over it. The prices were okay I guess. The premises is large but they don't bus their tables often. There were at least 7 tables with dirty dishes and again, it wasn't busy yet. This isn't somewhere that I'll be going back to. I love Italian food but I think the flavor gets lost in the fact they try to do it all so fast. I love coming here! The owner is absolutely the sweetest man ever! All the workers are lovely as well. You can tell they love working there. I always order a small margarita pizza. It is made to order and it is very delicious. I chose to dine in house this day. It was nice and quiet. But as I was leaving, people started to trickle in. The absolute best of the best and at prices that are amazingly affordable. If this restaurant was in the heart of Hollywood, you could expect to pay wild prices. The owner purposely located here so he could offer gourmet food at reasonable prices. I've been dining there since Aron opened and have never been disappointed ever! I've gone through practically the entire menu and everything that the restaurant offers is the best I've ever had. All the sauces are homemade and come from generations of time honored recipes that you can't get out of a can. Aron now has gluten free pizza which is a tasty as the non gluten kind and also offers gluten free spaghetti so you can be assured that if you have a gluten allergy, you are in great hands. From the moment we walked in, I knew this place was different, mainly because we were greeted by Aaron the owner like long-lost family and not just another carb-hungry stranger. We kicked things off with the Spaghetti Bolognese. It looked unassuming. But, after one bite I instantly started speaking fluent Italian (or maybe just started speaking with a heavy NY Italian accent from Brooklyn moaning "Fuggedaboutit" through mouthfuls of pasta--same difference). The Pepperoni Pizza was made by a very talented chef named Giuseppe (probably... or more like Jose). Thin crust, crispy, cheesy, with just the right amount of the ingredients that makes you wanna say "che bello... sono contento". I tried to share a slice but ended up fake-coughing on it so I wouldn't have to. Zero regrets. My wife had the salmon salad. It's for when you want to pretend you're eating healthy while actually enjoying buttery, flaky salmon on a bed of greens that probably do yoga. So fresh, my wife almost apologized to the lettuce. Also, special shoutout to the head chef and owner Aaron who brought a free cream of carrot soup for my one-year-old son. My son stared at it suspiciously, took a tiny bite, then he slurped it down like he was in witness protection and had to eat in a hurry. Toddler-approved! We topped it off with a Tiramisu. Excellent find! I was in a Canoga Park taking an Art Class with my BF and we wanted to grab a bite afterwards. The restaurant is done Cafeteria style. You walk in, grab a tray, and then place your order. Your food is brought to your table. I had the Gluten Free spaghetti with a sausage on the side. My BF got the eggplant rolatini. The food was delicious, the portions are HUGE and prices super reasonable. It came with a side of yummy garlic bread, and we got a Snapple. The whole price for all our food was $33! I wish I had a better experience but from start to finish it was a disaster. I arrived at 5:30 and was very confused on how to order. I waited in a long line and got to the front and started my order. The lady at the front kept taking phone calls and ignoring me while I was ordering. From the start I told her I wanted to eat at the restaurant. As I was almost finished with my order she told me I was in the wrong line and to get a tray and get in the other line. I was very frustrated and now had to wait behind 6 people when I thought I was almost done ordering. Finally it was my turn and I ordered a salad, a cheese pizza for my child and a meatball sub. I got the salad right away and the dressing was amazing but the pizza took 30 minutes to come and the meatball sub took 40 minutes to come. The service was slow and that was disappointing. The food was ok but not amazing. I definitely don't think I will be making another trip back. There is metered parking on the streets and in the back. He was very welcoming, gave recommendations and explained about the dishes. This place has legendary roots. Former Andre's owner in Fairfax district opened up a restaurant with the same recipe and cafeteria style concept. Owner operator Aaron is there everyday cooking up traditional recipe meals in a beautiful, large and clean new location. They also have excellent pizzas. Thai place is a gem. Cafeteria cult following from the original location on 3rd and Fairfax. The owner is a genuine guy that treats his employees right! Just watched him celebrate a employees sons birthday with a whole cake and everyone just sat around enjoyed their time celebrating. I love big open cafeteria style places with unpretentious food and decent prices. This place delivered. My bf had the lasagna. He enjoyed it. I had some mushroom filled pasta. It was good. The mushroom sauce on the side was not really appropriate for the pasta and did not add much, but I ate it. The garlic bread was good. I had some basic carrot soup and salad and tiramisu as well. Trust me. The food was basic yet it all disappeared off the plates. I might not bring guests here for a sophisticated lunch but I would bring in my family and friends for a casual meal. If you enjoy cafeteria type places with lots of room and ambience and do not enjoy shoving elbows with strangers seated a foot away from you, this is it. Have you been to Andre's by 3rd street? Did you like their pasta and pizza? If you do and you don't live in that area anymore and somehow found your way in the Valley then I suggest coming to this place. When I first moved to LA Andre's was that restaurant we go to for spaghetti - I mean it's heaps of spaghetti. It's been years since I've been to that spot since I moved to the valley but I found out about this location and finally we tried it last week on a Friday night. It wasn't that busy when we went but the setup and the food brought me back to those days we went to Andre's. Service is fast and you get your food right away if you just order the spaghetti, but I always get the half and half (spaghetti and ravioli) so you'll wait and they'll give you a number for it. It's like a cafeteria set up, you pick your food and they serve it to you if it's available, pizza is made to order. You pay at the end of the counter and they give you a number for the order you're waiting on. I didn't take a photo of our full order but as you can see - the serving is pretty big. If it isn't enough for you go large, you can always have some to go. We also had a large 4 topping pizza which is really large, we brought home half of it and there are 5 of us but everyone ordered pasta. When coming here don't expect a pretentious Italian restaurant ambiance. It's really just simple maybe tacky for some but I really don't mind it. I came knowing that I'll get to taste the spaghetti I had at Andre's and that was enough for me. I can't tell you about the other dishes because I always only order pizza, pasta (ravioli and spaghetti) in the other place and this one hits the spot for me.
