We hosted the welcome party for our wedding weekend with Matthew and had a fantastic experience. We had never heard of Al Lago but came across it in Tin City and immediately knew it was the right place. I don't believe they have hosted many similar events, but the entire process was completely smooth and stress free. Al Lago partnered with Union Sacre to provide the white wines, and we also hired Central Coast Creamery Deli for charcuterie. Matthew took the lead on coordinating with everyone and ensured everything was arranged. We booked it 7-8 months out and he frequently checked in to confirm details and see how he could help. The space itself worked out really well for our party, it was hot in June but the party was at 5pm and with the gazebo shade it was pleasant on the patio. We only used the patio and had approx. 50 guests which felt great, not crowded or empty. Our guests loved the wine and kicking off the weekend here. An incredible tasting experience. We walked in after a drive from a trip to Big Sur and Carmel, we were making the stop for a couple of days in Paso Robles. We wanted to do a tasting before we checked into our Airbnb. This was a perfect experience. Matthew was so welcoming and helpful and truly wants to tech you about wines and wants you to find wines you like. We have visited both the wine tasting room in Paso Robles and the vineyard in the Santa Rosa Valley. The owners, Blair & Simone, are warm and friendly and gifted with hospitality. Simone prepared a feast of toasted ravioli, meatballs, crostini with bruschetta, a creamy cheese dip and a butternut squash & nectarine dip with fruit from their garden. Blair then paired the wines with the different appetizers to bring out their particular nuances. We enjoyed sampling numerous wines from 100% Pinot Noir to 100% Syrah to beautiful Super Tuscan blends of traditional Sangiovese grapes with varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. My favorite, the 2020 Sonata, was awarded Double Gold at the Orange County Fair's Commercial Wine Competition. This a great stop with indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance is pushed over the top with a breathtaking view on the patio. Our sommelier was amazing and absolutely knew his wines. We had a great time learning about their Italian reds. The service was 10/10. They don't offer food but that's okay. the creamery offers amazing ice cream and sandwiches. We stumbled upon this place because we were initially looking for pasta for breakfast. Instead, Matthew convinced us to have wine for breakfast, and it was the best decision ever. Need a reason to come to Al Lago? Matthew alone is enough. He accommodated us at 5:00PM (which is typically closing time) and he was such a delight to talk to. I have been to their estate tasting room twice and each time I enjoyed it very much!! 1, the view from the estate is fabulous. The estate tasting room is next to their marvelous home and is sitting on a steep hillside and looking down the beautiful valley. They also did a good job on the landscape which makes this property a hidden gem! 2, the wine itself is worthy of your visit. Since it's a family style winery, their production is very limited so they can put a lot of effort into each bottle. And I'm surprised they made a wide range of style of wines from rose to Pinot noir, to southern Rhône blend, to "Santa Rosa" blend and their latest project is targeting the famous Italian armarone. I would say each flight from the tasting is very selective and very well intended. They service the wine education purpose well. And for my fellows who don't know much about wines, Blair also gives a brief educational session in the tasting room as well as in the vineyard. 3, home made Italian food from Simone is delicious and paired with the wine well and my friends even want to join the food membership :) Overall you won't regret your visit and I barely give any reviews on yelp not to mention long reviews like this one but I think they deserves your visit if you are looking for sunny afternoon to chill with your close friends or just try the local Santa Rosa valley wines even blows Robert Parker's mind. read more

The tasting is a easy 5 star experience; however, at the price point of $65 for the reds is not marketplace competitive. Our option was that $40 would be more in line. The reds were good, but at $65, there are more interesting area options. The rose' was a solid, good wine and not just a summer easy sipper but still a stretch at $35. We had the privilege of being guests at a private tasting event at the owners home and vineyard in the Santa Rosa Valley area. We came with friends and were not familiar with the Al Lago wines. What a wonderful afternoon - wine, food and commentary were delicious and entertaining. We even joined the wine club. The tasting consisted of pairings of three similar wines. While we all struggled to choose our favorites, the amazing thing was all the wine was amazing. We came home with some Al Lago Aria 2014 and 2015 (our fav!) and a 2012 Syrah. We do not live in the area so our wine club must be shipped. We happen to live in the Lodi area and have awesome wineries so close - so joining a wine club far away means the wine is worth it! I have had the honor of joining Blair and Simone's at their home on two different occasions. They are gracious hosts and provide a great wine tasting experience. Most importantly their wine is incredible. We joined the wine club and continue to purchase wine during our visit. Their flagship wine is Sonata so if you are able to get your hands on a library vintage I would rush at the opportunity! Make reservations early as they book up months in advance and bring friends to share the experience. Also, Simone is an incredible cook so do not eat before you go otherwise you will miss out. My husband and I try to visit one new winery each time we visit Paso. Al Lago was our new place for this visit. We were impressed as soon as we walked in.
