I am not one who normally is a fish and chip gal, but Alabama Fish bar blew me out of the water. The battered fish was exactly what you want if you're looking for classic fish n chips. They are a small walk up counter that is serving delicious meals to Cincinnatians. I will be back for more!!

This is the 3rd time that I've been here. (And there's about 2-5 years between visits. ) Usually Lent. Busy at lunch. I've always gotten the cod dinner and it has been consistently great! Cod- 6 generous pieces. HOT. Golden and crispy. Delicious Tartar Sauce- Very good- worth getting an extra for 6 pieces. Onions and peppers - spicy! I pick at these before the fries. I usually put them on the pieces of white bread that are at the bottom of the fries. Fries. These are good. But not the star of the show here. I've read recent yelp reviews about this place going downhill. Not the case. It's very very very good. Find a place to park. Wait in line Treat yourself.

A nostalgic trip for me always as i've been eating here since i was a kid! The fish with the bread and peppers is a staple for me. The fish is so crispy and flaky when biting into, a pro tip i do is make a little sandwich out of the fish, bread and peppers (top it with tarter and hot sauce). The inside is a quick order and go, love taking it and going to the park to eat in a picnic fashion. highly recommended seriously.

Delicious fried seafood with excellent value! On my recent ride around Cincinnati, my Lyft driver took the time to recommend this restaurant to me. When I saw the long lines at the counter, I knew I had come across a local favorite! Located on Race Street, this is a take-out only restaurant. Only on street parking is available, but it appeared limited. However, there is a cable car station close by. Uber/Lyft is usually available in under 5 minutes. For the menu, there are only three options available. Each fried fish entree is served with fries, bread, and various condiments, and the serving size is very generous. I ordered the 5 piece Whiting piece, and it was very delicious. Each piece of fish is lightly breaded and fried to perfection. It was crispy outside, and the fish was very tender inside. The fries felt generic, and I would recommend skipping it if you like to save room for the fried fish. As for the service, it was fast, and I received my order in under 3 minutes. My total came to $13, which was a steal given the generous portion of fish. Overall, it is a must try if you are a seafood lover!

COD Fish and French Fries!! YES YES and YES again. This place doesn't need a whole paragraph to convince anyone to eat here. It's just a flat out YES. Come and order some food TODAY.

I heard about this place from a friend. I was on my way to KY, so I figured I would give them a try. The service is lightning fast! As soon as I placed my order the cashier was handing me my food. Parking is terrible, luckily I was just able to hop out at the corner and place my order. The fish was fresh and hot, I got the whiting meal. The pieces of fish were generous. Next time I go, I will try the cod meal and make sure I get extra tartar sauce, the tartar is good but I just didn't have enough for all of my fish. The fries were just okay, nothing special. I feel like if I would've had more tartar I could've dipped them into the tartar sauce and they would've tasted better. Whiting 1-5=4. Fries 1-5=3.5. Customer Service 1-5=5.

Here are the facts: Their fried fish is fire. Their customer service is not. However I'm not upset about this. Im starting to think that the poor customer is service is the seasoning that make this joint keep serving up There is a woman there that has been taking orders for 30 years that is all business and has non existent customer service skills. No smile. No, "how are you?." But you know what? It doesn't matter. Foood is great. Im not their for the ambiance or the customer service. Im just there because the fish slaps every time. Even with them jacking up the price i do enjopy coming here as a treat from time to time. Definitely not a mistake to visit Just keep in mind that this is a to go only spot. One nice improvement recently was that they now accept credit card payments and have stepped in to 2023!

Alabama fish bar has the best cod I have ever tasted in my life. They give you fries, bread and fresh sautéed veggies with your meal.

A little too greasy and too much breading for me and the peppers are more sweet now not spicy and good like I remembered.

Fun, attentive, engaging, and gave us great recommendations throughout the evening. We started with the oysters, Skillet Cornbread, Pork Belly Skewer, and H20 Melon. The cornbread was, without a doubt, the best we've ever had. Subtly sweet, pillowy without being cakey, with this amazing sweet-savory depth. The whipped Steen's butter was the perfect complement. WOW! The pork belly was another standout. The coconut Alabama BBQ was rich and flavorful without being heavy. The melon was beautifully plated, and the country ham added the perfect salty contrast. The oysters were the only miss for me. They had a little more of that "fishy" quality than I prefer, but I'm admittedly particular about oysters. For dinner, the Jollof was flavorful and beautifully prepared. The Lamb Neck was a little gamier than I personally prefer, but my son clearly disagreed because he devoured it down to the bone. Then came the IBÉRICO. When I tell you how good this was...we finished it and ordered a SECOND one! The pork with corn maque choux, chimichurri, and lime was incredible. Rich, bright, savory, and beautifully balanced. Easily the star of the evening. We finished with the Key Lime semifreddo, which was light and airy. I also had a Paper Plane, a simple cocktail that many places surprisingly don't get right. Nolia nailed it. Fresh citrus, quality ingredients, and perfectly balanced. I also loved the hospitality. The chef greeting guests as they arrive is such a small thing, but it immediately makes the experience feel warm and personal. Between the food, Henry's service, the cocktails, and the hospitality, this was such a lovely place to celebrate my son. If you haven't been to Nolia, GO. And order the Ibérico. Honestly, you may as well order two. We did!

Both my server and manager were so engaging and friendly, it didn't feel like I was dining alone. The space itself definitely doesn't make it feel like you're in Cincy- very warm and inviting. I settled on the cornbread, which is a menu staple. The butter on top felt so decadent and the cornbread itself was very savory. For my entree, I chose the jollof and the veggie selection for the evening which was grilled okra with a banana gastrique. That alone felt so cool, I had to order it. The jollof was so good, so filling, perfectly spiced and Chef actually broke it down for me all the spices he used to capture that flavor. I wish I had room for dessert, but I didn't want to go too crazy! Between the service (which they make it a point to open the door for everyone), the open kitchen, the food and then since I was a tourist they gave me recs for so many places to go in the city, I'm happy to rate this place 5 stars.

The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. Not only would we return, but we have the date already scheduled. I'm looking forward to trying something different.

Not to mention the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION, was mind boggling for the place. Like the server was very nice and all, that is a plus. Though sadly the food, we had the gumbo and etu fay, it was honestly pretty sad. Like it's up there with the top 5 most sad restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. So yeah it's going to be a no for me.
