The Alabama Hotel has been our go to place for good food. But..... it's been 3 or 4 times now that the food coming out of the kitchen is not hot. Last Friday when we went there my chicken and biscuits was cool at best, and my wife's baked fish was also cool. Her baked potato would NOT even melt the butter she put in it. I think it's time the manager went back into the kitchen to talk to that cook. When people come out on a Friday night, we expect a hot meal.. we don't want to sit around waiting another half an hour for the food to come back after we sent it back to the kitchen. We stopped on a Saturday late afternoon on our way home from Oakfield. This is a very nice restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I had the prime rib sandwich which was very good. My wife had wings which were also better than average. The service was helpful and friendly. This is an old building that's been here along time, but is a better venue than you might expect for its rural location. Well worth the trip to try it! read more

The Alabama Hotel was an awesome surprise. I thought it would be a sketchy dive bar but it was a great sit down restaurant with fresh seafood and better prime rib than the red osier! The prime rib special for two on Thursdays is an amazing deal at $44 for two giant cuts of prime rib and a side. The salt potatoes were good too. I wasn't aware they get their seafood flown in fresh but I saw on facebook that they do. Great service, great prices. The salad bar thing is a little weird though and feels like pizza hut--unnecessary. read more

The place is always packed with locals. Restaurant and bar with a separate door for each. If you just going to the restaurant, enter through the middle door. We went on prime rib night (Thursday) for two $44 I guess comes with salad bar. We ordered the stuff peppers for a appetizer which was a special and they were perfect. Sausage and cheese filled. I got a cheese burger and my husband got the fish sandwich. Both came with fries and a pickle. The waitress didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked but it came out perfect. We also stayed for dessert. I had chocolate pie and my husband had banana cake. They also had Glenora Niagara wine which is a local wine I don't see often. Very happy to see. Why I waited to come here escapes me. But food and service are perfect. Can't wait to go back. read more

It's funny, I grew up about 10 minutes away from The Alabama Hotel but I have never had a meal, or a drink, from there. That all changed when my family picked up a few fish fry meals, to keep in-line with the Friday Fish Fry craze in WNY, and I was very impressed! On a Friday around 5pm, my mom and her friend ordered three fish fry meals for pick-up. Now I wasn't with them when they picked up the meals, but from what they told me, the experience was pretty seamless, even with how bustling the place was. They didn't have to wait long at all to pay out and get the meals and go. They told me there wasn't an empty table to be found! On to the fish fry itself - It came with a HUGE beer-batter fried Haddock (with a cup of tartar sauce and a lemon slice to squeeze), TONs of fries, a little cup of coleslaw, a little cup of cheesy macaroni salad, and a dinner roll with butter. I was absolutely impressed with how much food I received, but the box it came in gave me a pretty good idea. The fish was fried perfectly - not greasy at all, easy to cut with a fork, and not too "fishy" tasting, but that's most likely due to the fish being Haddock, which typically doesn't taste as "fishy" as others I've had. The coleslaw was excellent, the right level of moistness with a slight vinegar-y flavor but not overwhelming at all. The macaroni salad was excellent too, I was surprised by the cheesy flavor it had, I wasn't expecting it but very much welcomed that. The fries were very good. By the time we were able to sit down and eat our meals though, which was about 40 minutes later, the fries had cooled off and when I finally got around to eating them, they were cold, but that was not a fault of the restaurant at all. As I mentioned at the start, the size of the fish fry and the number of sides was more than generous. All of us walked away plenty full and happy - I, of course, was able to finish mine but my mom and her friend could not. I'm really glad to finally have tried food from The Alabama Hotel! The take-out experience was pretty seamless and the food quality and portions were great. I'd very much like to actually sit inside and grab a meal there, so maybe 2022 will be the year. :) read more

When there's lot of cars in the parking lot, you know there's a good restaurant. This.place appears to be a neat local area legend. Recommended. Not the kind of place you need to put on a suit and dress but nice for the area. Range of very good dinner entrees to pub food. Had a very good pan-fried haddock entree. Good food, more expensive but everything is now. We eat here with our extended family when everybody is in town (10 people). We told them that after dinner, we were going to see a family member in a show in Lockport. They were sensitive to our need to eat and go, and everything worked out great. The bread/salad bar is decent, got a bit sparse at one point but they got more bread/butter out fast. Long wooden tables, charming. Clean, bright, but also lots of dark wood trim left over from days gone by. There's an adjoining bar, but the atmosphere is very family-friendly. Hope they stay great! read more

Joe is an amazing person who helped and saved at least 100 people during the 3 nights of the snow storm. Christmas Eve 2022 in Hotel Alabama. About more than 100 people were stuck here because of the storm. Joe, the owner and the neighbors had us here, treated the free meals, hot drinks and blankets, air beds, even Christmas gifts to kids. I and my 10 year old son with our dog were part of them, who really appreciated Joe's kindness and generous. It made us a very memorable Christmas Eve. Thanks, Joe ! And special thank to the Mom who volunteered with her one month baby. It almost made me tears down. I wrote an article and posted those pictures on WeChat E-Magazine. More than three thousands Chinese people have read it and even goes more. I hope everyone who read that can say hi to Joe when they take vacation in Niagara Falls. He deserves that! read more

I generally stop here in the afternoons, after a morning of goose hunting and while killing time waiting for the returning evening flight of geese; having a few drinks and exchanging hunting stories with the rest of the patrons. We have driven by this place for about a year now and finally decided to stop in and give it a try. Well my husband was extremely thrilled when he saw the salad bar! There are not many restaurants these days that have a salad bar that has different types of salads available other than leaf lettuce. This salad bar is conveniently located in the middle of the dining room so its easy for everyone to access. They have a fresh homemade bread station included in the salad bar with soft butter. After scoping out that we head to our table. This place is not huge nor is it small. I feel it's a perfect size restaurant! The greeter left us to read the menu and decide what to order. Their menu is good sized with a variety of seafood items, chicken, burgers and your typical bar food items. Once we placed our orders we headed over to the salad bar! There was a huge bowl of fresh lettuce, many traditional toppings, 6 different dressings to choose from, macaroni salad and a potato salad! My husband ordered the broiled Haddock, Traditional style which had great flavor and I ordered the chicken fingers with a baked potato. The fingers were perfectly cooked all white chicken and yummy! I tried their swamp bbq hot sauce and it was good but I decided to stick with a traditional bbq sauce which was good too. We wanted dessert but it was late and they were all out of their Candy Bar pie, so we will have to go back soon to try that! All the desserts are made in-house. Our waitress was awesome (forgot her name unfortunately)! I have been to the Alabama Hotel twice now and both times left me more than content. We recently went here with a group for a family birthday and our service was top-notch, as was the food! First off, I have to say that the waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. Poor service can often make or break an experience in my opinion so I have to note how awesome our server was! We all ordered the specials that came with their unlimited salad bar (which includes WARM HOMEMADE BREAD!!), that was chock full of different ingredients and dressings. The salad bar is a great bonus because it usually means you're getting to take home enough of your meal for the next nights dinner. Frugal bonus. ;) Two of our party ordered their prime rib, which also came with a choice of potato. Others ordered one of their fish dinners, steak, a crock of their New England clam chowder and I ordered the Eggplant Parm which the waitress told me featured eggplant harvested fresh from her garden the night before! (AMAZING!) Everything that was ordered, was presented very well and came out quickly. I have to say that I am very picky about Italian food and rarely order it when out as it's hard to compete with the incredible homemade meals I've had, but I was very impressed with my Eggplant Parm. The sauce was great, there was plenty of cheese and a good crisp to the eggplant. I was also happy with the fact that they did not use regular spaghetti, since i cannot stand the consistency of thick spaghetti (angel hair all the way!). When driving by this place it doesn't look like much, but I say you must try it! It is a small restaurant with amazing food. On Fridays and Saturdays they have their Prime Rib and it sure is tasty! On those day I would suggesting going early because they do fill up and sometimes you may wait abut 45 minutes, but it sure is worth it. My favorite part is the fresh homemade out of the oven bread they have with their unlimited salad bar. The salad bar has plenty of options and is always fresh. No matter what I have gotten here the food is always tasty and the service is great! The waitresses are always friendly and attentive which makes this place even better. Went on 11/29/18 Thursday night special prime rib for 2 @39.99. All you can eat salad bar has everything you need. Wife started with clam chowder which was creamy and tasty, I started with Buffalo shrimp which were huge and delicious. Then came out the 14 oz of prime rib, what I really liked was it was served in the au jus not on the side. Both pieces were cooked as ordered. I can honestly say this was one of the best pieces of prime rib I have ever had. Sides were salt potatoes & sweet potatoe fries. Everything was fantastic. We were a group of 6- went here on recommendation- the "hostess" seated us and never said they were closing in an hour- we s aid we were here for the special- she never said they were out of the special. Then the waitress had us wait for 15 mins before she took our order - at which time she announced they did not have the special, so we re-examined the menu and had the salad bar and sandwiches - she did not tell us the salad bar was closing, it was awful- the food was horrible, there was this long black hair in the salad, the soup was from a can - there wasn't any salad dressing, and when asked- they said they had to scrape some out of the JAR. This is a nice little restaurant in a tiny Town near Batavia. They offer a small but good salad bar that includes regular salad fixings, Mac and potato salad and fresh baked bread. They have great burgers, really good fish and chicken dishes and a cozy atmosphere. It's nice for families but they also have a bar area for more grown up time.
