My friend and I were approached by three different employees during our time there. They asked if they could assist us with anything and gave some great recommendations. I was looking for a fantasy book for my teenage brother and the employee was incredibly helpful giving recommendations, finding the "teen book of the month." I didn't even know they had a teen book of the month! The organization of the store was great. The categories and book selections that were specially displayed were especially helpful. For example, in their AAPI stories section I was able to find some really interesting books that I might have not otherwise seen. A selection of their Barnes and Noble specialty book covers that feature some classic works (like Pride and Prejudice and Winnie the Pooh) were on sale for between $8-$12. For such a beautiful high quality book, I would definitely return to purchase one of those at that price. The other books though were a bit pricey. The employees there made this visit extra enjoyable. I don't go to Barnes and Noble very often, but yesterday's visit makes me want to return again soon.

Entered with an old credit voucher worth $50 from previous book sales. I figured that I would get a…read morefew books from a local bookstore rather than online because I already had the credit here. Firstly, I searched their online inventory website for the desired books. Website reported books in stock but were not on selves. The staff couldn't locate them either and said they would update the inventory. So the inventory site is unreliable. Secondly, upon ringing me up for $20, I produced the voucher thinking it would cover the entire cost. Unfortunately, it is only good for half the price of your purchase. When I expressed my confusion about this policy. The tall crotchety old man raised his voice and loudly repeated: "Good for HALF the purchase!" Sir there is no only else inside the store. It's not loud in there. I was your only customer all afternoon. There was no need to raise your voice at me. How embarrassing to get to the ripe old age of grey and still be throwing tantrums at paying customers no less! I should have left the store without purchasing anything but I was just so stunned! I understand that I failed to thoroughly read the small text at the bottom of the voucher that explains their policy. The old man could have simply referred to the text on the voucher instead of displaying such disrespectful behavior. Take your business elsewhere because your patronage is obviously not valued here.

I found a beautiful coffee table book, a thoughtful anthology, a delightful cookbook, a wonderful classic, two gifts for my mom, two books that were adapted into famous movies, two very different memoirs, and perhaps best of all, one book that the owner noted as "really good." My friend and I attended an Open Mic after hearing about it on Instagram. We honestly expected a…read morequiet evening with a couple of people, and we were happily surprised to arrive to a bustling space. We almost resigned ourselves to standing in the back, but we were quickly and kindly ushered to a couch. Everyone who went up to the mic was so, so good. All genres were represented: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, children's, comics. Two people even gave rousing music performances. Many people read in Spanish, and every single person read with humor, heart, and honesty. There were a lot of laughs and a lot of tears. The store truly is a safe space. Do I feel bad for not buying any books by Hispanic or Latino authors? A little bit... which is why I promise to come back and keep supporting this wonderful, beautiful, meaningful haven. After he mentioned it, I looked it up on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised by the reviews. This is a cute bookstore! The prices are unbeatable! I wanted the Twilight book set for a gift and found it here, for a lot cheaper than other places. The set was in great condition too. The bookstore is very organized and clean. It was pretty easy to navigate the store and find books. Service was good too. The person offered to help us look for what we wanted. I would come back here for more books in the future.

The cashier said they get new books in stock daily though. There is an OG location at The Shops at Mission Viejo mall on the second floor next to the bowling alley. I prefer the one here in Santa Ana Main Place Mall as this location has a Christian book section whereas the one in Mission Viejo does not. Both are great bookstores nonetheless.
