Great used bookstore, organized well. The owner has such a sweet soul. We chatted baseball for a while, as he commented on my bf's dodgers hat. There was another gentleman shopping while we came in who had a dog, and the owner made sure to give him lots of love after the dog's dad checked out. He was quick to help when I asked where a specific author would be, and offered me similar reccomendations. I was short of time when I came in, so I will definitely be back. The last couple times I've come in the selection has not been what I'd would call 'extensive' for children's books/ novels. Customer service has been nonexistence, no smile, no "welcome," no "how ya doing?" Nothing like that. But my biggest complaint is when I show up during business hours, they are not there. Like today- it's a Tuesday after Memorial weekend. The handwritten note taped to door says they'll return after the 25th. It's 1130 on Tuesday the 26th in the morning. Their hours are posted Tuesday from 10 AM to 6 PM. I've been waiting out front for 30 minutes and nobody is here and this is not a first. read more

How in the world did I let this used bookstore slip under the radar? It's been here for 20 years? What? I feel so ignorant! We do not have many independent bookstores around anymore so to find this literally sparked joy! Glad husband and I had a chance to wander through this wonderland of books. There are a lot to dig, for sure. We spent a good hour there, most of it conversing with the owner, Thomas. He is really nice and knows his books for sure! It was super cool getting to know him in such a short period of time. Anyway, I guarantee that you will walk out with a book in hand! I found a couple books...this should keep me busy for a little bit, lol. Husband, of course found a few too, for his library. Every time I mention "let's go the bookstore", husband would always frown because we have so many books! I would respond, "would you rather me shop for another handbag?" LOL. Yea...I didn't think so. Small little spot with haphazard organization and pricing. Owner stated one price and by the time the item was charged it was completely different. Selection was varied but not extensive. The majority of the items were heavily used and often contained writing. I'd like to give this place a better review but the quality and service was unremarkable. Sweet little shop! I've had BookTown bookmarked for a very long time, but was only able to make a visit last week when I had a day off of work. Walking in, the owner was on the phone, but excused himself from his phone call to say "hi" and to let him know if I need any help. Walking through the bookstore, there are a lot of books crammed/stacked everywhere. Some of the books are a bit older or a little more outdated, but there were also a few items that were recently published. This is mainly a used bookstore, so finding brand new books will probably be out of the question. The bookstore did have the books organized by sections, such as Children's being in the back corner, Politics being in one area, Movies/TV being in another area, SciFi being closer to the cashier, etc. Once in their sections, the books weren't really organized by last name, so it may take a bit of time if you're looking for a specific book. For example, if you're looking for a book in the Fiction section with last name "Johnson", you'll have to check out the J's, but Johnson could be anywhere in that J area. Prices are okay. There were a few books that I was interested in, but that I put back because I couldn't justify the price for the condition of the book. That being said, they do seem to have a few sales at times, and some of the books with stickers will have discounts. It was very nice to talk to Thomas, the owner. We were able to talk on a number of different topics, ranging from books to art to celebrities, and it just made the afternoon th much more pleasant. Will try and be back! read more

DO NOT BUY FROM OR SELL TO THIS MAN. I went to Book Town USA on Monday, December 2nd to try to SELL the 8 to 10 boxes of books that I had which included about 20 to 30 Stephen King hardback novels. The gentleman who I believe is the owner, walked out of the store to the back of my car started looking through some of the boxes and then started taking the boxes out of my vehicle, which made me believe that he was going to BUY the books from me. He then offered me $20 for all 8 to 10 boxes of books. After considering it overnight, I felt that that was not a fair offer because I believe each Stephen King hardback book could be sold for at least $10 a book which would make them worth $200 to $300. I went back on Tuesday, December 3rd and told the gentleman that I would like to GIVE HIM BACK HIS MONEY which I had in my hand, and that I would like my books back and he REFUSE. Stating that he had promised one of the books to somebody already, at that time I told him he could take his $20 back and keep that one book but I wanted the rest of my books back. AGAIN HE REFUSED. He stated to me that I told him the day before that I was wanting to donate the books to him, which is UNTRUE because when I walked into the store originally, I asked him if he was interested in BUYING books from me. He offered me another $20 and told me to never come back to his store. read more

I have had this bookstore bookmarked for a while now, and I finally went on a whim. I have been hunting down certain biographies and authors and a lot of privately owned bookstore charge a crazy amount for older books. The store is small, but there were tons of books. I found a good amount of woody Allen books I have been searching for, and bought the most reasonably priced ones. Nothing was a rip off, which was nice. The owner was friendly, and let me search in peace. Which I really really like in such small intimate stores like these. I would come back if I was on the hunt for a certain book. read more

So glad I found this place. Owner was very nice and helpful. Books are definitely older and published decades ago and so will show wear and tear but the selection and pricing is amazing. I can't wait to go back and try to find more books from the 90s and 80s. I arrived at 11am on a Saturday. Online it says they open at 10am Saturday, and they were still closed. I went to my car and waited a few minutes, and luckily they opened (over an hour late). The store is cramped, small, and smells weird... wet and mildewy. The romance section is poorly organized and doesn't have a great selection. While I was in the store alone with the owner, someone came in the back and started saying, "fuck you, fuck you"; the owner said, "I have customers in the store - leave." It made me super uncomfortable and I immediately left. read more

Sleazy crooks. I ordered a book from Booktown USA via Biblio.com. Half an hour after I placed the order, I received an email demanding more money - more than DOUBLE the original price which already included shipping and handling and tax - or the order would be canceled. No reason was given other than "S & H". Apparently I'm not the only one they've tried to rip off that way. I don't know what the store is like in person, but their online ordering policies are nothing but bare-faced robbery! I've written to Biblio.com to urge them to remove this dishonest place from their site. read more

Decently priced books. The store is small and roughly categorized by different genres. It's a little crammed and there are different piles and boxes of books everywhere, but I don't mind it and I usually expect it when I go to these stores. I actually found a book I wanted in one of these piles. The owner greeted me right when I got in and asked if I needed help, he also checked on me halfway into my visit. I probably spent 30-45 minutes there and bought 3 classics for about $10. A random side note: I'm not sure if it's because it's summer and it's just the area (the doors were open) or I'm just very unlucky, but I got 7 mosquito bites all over my legs while I was there.... be careful if you wear shorts. read more

Great used book store with a vast collection of books on just about every topic; history, math, sciences, art, biographies, classics, philosophy. A wonderful oasis of books on PAPER!! Real books that can be held in the hands, pages to turn, illustrations and photos to see; so much nicer than curling up in a comfy chair with a electronic reading device. And the owner is so knowledgeable and helpful. Everything from 1st editions to collectible to out of print. The quintessential "previously owned" or "used" bookstore. Thomas, the owner, is super nice, knowledgeable, and has a large inventory of most categories. I found him extremely helpful and pleasant, he does have an online presence, a huge database and will ship. Going into the store itself is the best experience though. I've been disappointed in the lack of used bookstores around the area, but was happy to find a store close to Disneyland and we stopped in on our way to the park. The owner wasn't friendly or unfriendly, he was pretty much non-existent until we went to the cash register. While there was a very general order of sections, the chaotic mess of boxes, bicycles, furniture and shelves was so overwhelming. If I owned a bookstore I'd be spending my time organizing and keeping the space clean. When I first tried to find the prices for the books, I noticed stickers on the shelves that said books were 50% of the original price unless noted. So I grabbed about five paperbacks, mostly classics that were between $4-5 as printed prices on the covers (one book was from the 60s and $1.25) and I mentally thought I had about $10 or so worth of books. It came out to $18 at the register! What?! I wanted the books I had picked out so I took them and paid without saying anything. He charged me for what the price was on the book as if I bought them NEW. Is that normal? Last time I went to a used bookstore very similar in style (and nicer, tbh) they charged $.50 to $2 for books. So here I bought *used* books and paid the cost that was printed on the paperback, just as someone did when they bought them new. I won't be back again, that's just ridiculous! read more

This used bookstore is a hidden treasure. It's been open for 11 years but I had no idea it was there! The shop is packed with used books, but they're organized by genre and also alphabetically by author's last name. The prices are written inside the front covers of the books, but there are little signs around the store that indicate if a specific genre or collection is discounted. The owner is a really friendly guy and willing to help if you're looking for anything specific. He has a database with the store's inventory, which is nice, so he can tell you if he has a certain book in stock. Just FYI, no public restroom and no air conditioning, so if you're planning to spend hours in there looking at everything like I did just be prepared. For a great day grab a couple books at Booktown and head across the parking lot to Mel's for a blueberry donut. Doesn't get better than that! read more

This place is quaint, quiet, and jam-packed full of used books. Tom, the owner, he's really helpful and personable. It's probable that you'll be locked into a conversation with him before you leave, but that's a good thing, a bonus. If you cannot find something, he's bound to find it for you, one way or another. I have always been a fan of buying used books. A used book has a history of sorts: many of the books I own were printed before I was born. Makes me wonder about its travels before it made its way to my library, where it's been, who's enjoyed it before I did. Next time you're looking for something in particular, look Tom up, and save a few bucks. With the money you save, get back onto Euclid going south. I came in here yesterday, looking for a particular book. Although this cute and beautiful store didn't have it, I left with two others! I truly appreciate and love little privately-owned bookstores like this one. The owner, Thomas, gave nothing short of excellent customer service. He went to check if he had that particular book in stock. He was patient and friendly with me. Although it may seem tiny, the store expands further back, giving aisles of bookshelves of different books! I definitely recommend this store, and it surely won't be my last visit here. P.S. I love this place. Its so tiny, so impressive yet intimidating, cheap, great quality, its a small business, the owner is always there - he is SUPER nice and VERY VERY VERY helpful. Its pretty unorganized... maybe just into sections, but good luck once you're in that section... part of the reason its so hard to just walk out of here with just one book. I just love this place. I feel like you can't go wrong in a used book store. This place is great! Don't be fooled by the small size, it is packed with books! And unlike a lot of used book stores it has a pretty good shelving system to make what you want easier to find. Lots of classics! Be prepared to spend a good chunk of time here just exploring. This is a great store. I called all over looking for a specific book BookTown USA was the only store that had it. Walking in it feels like a bookstore should feel. Little shop filled to the brim with books. I believe the owners name that helped me was Tom. It feels a little overwhelming trying to think about where that one book might be, but that irrelevant because the owner quickly steps in and knows exactly where the book your looking for is. He find it quickly and is very kind and helpful. I asked him for a suggestion to a few other books to read and he genuinely was interested in what I was looking for and had to say. Its a mom and pop bookstore, one of the few ones still around. If you enjoy reading and are looking for a good book. I was very suprised about how affordable the prices of the books where, the book i picked up cost $3.50.
