YIKES!! WHAT A DUMP!! So first thing, you check in at the lobby. Looks beautiful and updated in the lobby, giving the appearance you're staying somewhere nice. Then you get into your room, what a shock!! Floors are crusty and dirty looking with pet stains throughout, may be pet friendly but if you don't have one would be nice to have a room not used by pets. Room has a pungent old paint smell, windows have blinds with no window coverings which pretty much give peeping toms an easy look in. The rooms they advertise are far from what you're actually gonna get. Hair on shower walls, door wouldn't lock unless you slammed it while lifting, you can hear everything in the rooms beside you, coughing, farting, peeing, and conversations, it's awful. Now the staff...night staff were friendly and welcoming, however the so called "General Manager," Tammy O'Bar, is as unprofessional and trashy as they come. Her appearance is rather disgusting and her customer service falls in line the same. Was sitting outside the morning after check-in when she and another employee walked out the doors while loudly bashing other employees.. I politely said excuse me as they walked by and asked if they knew who management was. Tammy, who honestly looked like she came from a long day of working on the garbage truck, dirty clothes, and very unkept appearance, rudely replied that she was the manager, I then asked if I could have a minute of her time, snapped loudly at me, "Can I have a minute!?" I couldn't believe it and just replied, "Wow, so much for customer service." I then proceeded up to the lobby to see if there was somebody above her that I may speak with as her unprofessional behavior was way out of line. I was met with lie after lie by the office staff telling me they couldn't pronounce her bosses name, they couldn't provide me with contact info for complaints, this literally is a dump, run by a bunch of trash. WILL NOT BE BACK. YUCK

Neat and clean with very comfy beds.

I pride myself in leaving factual yelp reviews so here I go. -Location is PERFECTLY a short block away from the hustle bustle of the Main Street for coffee, bagels, meals, shopping, or maybe even a scoop of ice cream -Check in/out process was so warm and hospitable -We stayed in the Prospector Room because we were traveling with our dog, so took value in the private patio. Our room was cozy and spotless. Thankful for the AC unit as we visited on a hot weekend. Our dog enjoyed relaxing in the shaded patio. Our bed was comfy, more on the soft than firm, but did not hurt my back whatsoever. -OMG THE BREAKFAST. Kim is an UH-mazing cook. Perfect portion, flavor, not too heavy/complex, but certainly delicious. I am glad to have visited Sonora, but not sure if I'd make it an annual trip, to replace it with Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, or Napa. Nothing terrible happened, but I didn't have my socks knocked off either. Maybe it was the hot weather...not sure! If you plan on visiting Gold Country, do stay at the Bradford Place Inn and Gardens! We will.

Kim (Owner) was so wonderful, sweet and very accommodating to my wife's dietary needs etc., when preparing our delicious breakfasts. Each day, our breakfast was prepared fresh, warm and delicious. Breakfast (forgot to take a picture, too good to wait) included a protein, fresh fruit, warm pastries, ice water, orange juice and coffee. Just the right amount to get your day off to a good start... We loved this old Victorian home, it's beautiful. Some rooms, like ours, have a private patio area connected to your room. Very relaxing... Although, we don't have any pets, this place is "pet friendly". Next time, we're in the area, we'll be staying here again. Kim is such a gracious hostess and good person. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you staying here... I found this place to be very reasonable, relaxing, beautiful and includes a delicious breakfast, compared to a typical "no tell motel"!!!

Breakfast had cheese omelettes, French toast-sticks, cereal, juice & fresh fruit. All tasty! The location is close to the freeway, but tucked away on a side street that is private. Because of that, it's much more quiet than the hotels along the Main Street in Sonora (15 minutes away). It is an hour and a half to Hetch Hetchy Dam, 15 minutes to Culver's Apple Farm in Tuolumne City, 8 minutes to Columbia and 3 miles from the BESTsourdough bread you EVER ate, from Two Acre Farms! I had a a positive check in experience at the Historic Sonora Inn, but unfortunately everything…read morewent downhill once we walked next door to their sister property, Hotel Lumberjack. As soon as we opened the door to our room, we noticed several cleanliness issues. Although the bed appeared to be made, there was hair all over the bedding, and the comforter had what looked like dried snot on it. The bathroom sink barely drained, the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, the shower was dirty, the floors were filthy, and the towels didn't appear to be clean. It was so unsanitary that we didn't even feel comfortable taking our shoes off. I immediately went to the front desk and asked to be moved to another room. While they did relocate us, the second room wasn't much better. The sheets hadn't even been made, which made us question whether the rooms were being properly cleaned at all. Since we were traveling with two small children, checking out and finding another hotel late in the day wasn't convenient, so we decided to make the best of it. Unfortunately, our night only got worse. Around midnight, there was a great deal of noise coming from the parking lot, making it difficult for our family to sleep. On top of that, the air conditioning unit was incredibly loud. I honestly don't understand how this hotel could have been recently renovated yet have so many maintenance and cleanliness issues. The online photos are very misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of the property. I also spoke with the front desk manager Brianne regarding my concerns, but I didn't feel that my complaints were taken seriously or handled with much care. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Between the lack of cleanliness, maintenance problems, noise, and poor overall experience, I cannot recommend Hotel Lumberjack. If I could give it a negative one-star rating, I would.

You might be able to fit a crate in the corner, but that's it. -The very popular Natural Bridges Hiking Trail is not dog friendly. It's the only trail near the lake that is not dog friendly and of course it has to be the coolest one. -Downtown wasn't as busy as we had anticipated which was nice, it's still did not help that the sidewalks are extremely narrow and the road through Sonora is busy at all times. If you have a skittish pup, make sure you are on high alert Here's a review if you don't have a pup. The hotel is a sister hotel to the Sonora Inn. You have to walk across the street once you've parked to check-in and pick up your room keys. The continental breakfast is also served at the Sonora Inn. The breakfast is simple, having items like cereal, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, and coffee. Parking has to be the worst idea between these two hotels. The one and only parking lot for both hotels is the Hotel Lumberjack parking lot. If you are planning on walking around or going out on Saturday, make sure your car is parked in the parking lot by 6:00 PM or you will not get parking again. You will have to park on the street or somewhere on the main street. As aforementioned, even though these are dog friendly spaces, they are not thought with dogs in mind. Not having a simple relief area is ridiculous. The three stars really are for the parking lot and also for the paper thin walls. If we were you, we would ask for a second story room. The people above us had kids and were moving things back-and-forth, and it was impossible to sleep .

1/5 -- Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience…read more We booked this hotel through Booking.com for our Yosemite road trip. After a long day of driving, we arrived expecting to rest for the night. Instead, we discovered fleas in our room and were bitten multiple times. We immediately reported the problem to the hotel management. Since we could not safely stay in the room, we had no choice but to leave in the middle of the night. What happened next was extremely stressful and frightening. We were exhausted, had already been bitten, and had to drive for approximately two more hours through an unfamiliar area in the dark, with little or no cell phone service, trying to find another hotel with availability. We finally arrived at Sierra Sky Ranch and checked in at approximately 4:30 AM. We had planned our entire road trip in advance, including our accommodations and budget. Because of this incident, everything was disrupted. We lost most of the night, got only a few hours of sleep, missed the breakfast included with our replacement stay, and had to make unexpected hotel payments. We were charged: * $310 at Sierra Sky Ranch ($210 room + $100 security deposit) * $236 at Holiday Inn ($186 room + $50 security deposit) * Total charged immediately: $546 Although the security deposits are expected to be returned later, this money was unavailable to us during our trip and created unexpected financial pressure. The flea bites have also continued to cause significant itching and discomfort, and we have documented the bites with photographs, as well as the conditions we found in the room. The hotel did refund the original booking through Agoda, but management considers that the end of the matter. In our opinion, refunding a room that was not safe to stay in is only the minimum that should be expected. It does not address the additional expenses, the health impact, the loss of sleep, or the major disruption this caused to our trip. We have already contacted Booking.com and provided documentation of what happened. We are also keeping all photographs, videos, receipts, and other evidence. This was one of the most stressful hotel experiences we have ever had. We booked accommodation so we could safely rest during our road trip, and instead we found ourselves, in the middle of the night, exhausted and bitten, driving through an unfamiliar area looking for somewhere else to sleep. I strongly recommend that travelers carefully consider this experience before booking this property.

Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to give this historic 1850 inn a chance. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We stayed in Room 14, which was advertised as having a queen bed, but it was actually a full-size bed. The room itself was very small, and while it contained beautiful antique furnishings, it felt neglected rather than charming. The window air conditioner was outdated and awkwardly installed, the shower barely drained, the toilet paper holder had been poorly glued back onto the wall, and the towel bar repeatedly fell off. The old wall heater also appeared outdated enough to raise safety concerns. Outside, the disappointment continued. The swimming pool was green, the grounds felt unkempt, and the property overall looked dirty and cluttered. Instead of feeling like a treasured historic inn, it felt like a place that has been left to slowly deteriorate. What makes this especially sad is the incredible potential this property still has. After returning to our room, I looked into the history of the Gunn House and found photos and information from the previous owners. It was evident they had intentionally preserved the hotel's historic character and created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Since the ownership changed around 2017, it appears that only the bare minimum has been done to maintain the property. Many of the photos currently used online seem to reflect the inn during its better years rather than its present condition. The Gunn House deserves better. It is a historic treasure with rich Gold Rush heritage, and it should be restored by owners who are passionate about preserving its legacy. With proper investment, thoughtful restoration, and professionals experienced in historic properties, this inn could once again become one of Sonora's crown jewels. Instead, it currently feels like a neglected landmark waiting for someone to bring it back to life. I genuinely hope that happens one day, because beneath the grime and deferred maintenance, you can still see glimpses of the beautiful hotel the Gunn House once was.

We arrived to Sonora by way of Ebbetts Pass, winding down through crystal alpine lakes, faerytale meadows and boulders and forests that speak in quiet and ancient tongues. It turns out the Victorian-inspired Barretta Gardens is overseen with a care as golden as the hue of sepia-colored days gone past and motherlodes once legendary for their bounty. The proprietors Astrid and Daniel run an inn as refreshing as the Moroccan mint tea set out every afternoon to greet us from a hot day exploring Gold Country. We found Barretta Gardens flexible and welcoming to our two boys as well. Our only suggestion is that if they choose to turn off each room's A/C while guests are away for the day that they would turn it back on in anticipation for their return in the evening.
