YIKES!! WHAT A DUMP!! So first thing, you check in at the lobby. Looks beautiful and updated in the lobby, giving the appearance you're staying somewhere nice. Then you get into your room, what a shock!! Floors are crusty and dirty looking with pet stains throughout, may be pet friendly but if you don't have one would be nice to have a room not used by pets. Room has a pungent old paint smell, windows have blinds with no window coverings which pretty much give peeping toms an easy look in. The rooms they advertise are far from what you're actually gonna get. Hair on shower walls, door wouldn't lock unless you slammed it while lifting, you can hear everything in the rooms beside you, coughing, farting, peeing, and conversations, it's awful. Now the staff...night staff were friendly and welcoming, however the so called "General Manager," Tammy O'Bar, is as unprofessional and trashy as they come. Her appearance is rather disgusting and her customer service falls in line the same. Was sitting outside the morning after check-in when she and another employee walked out the doors while loudly bashing other employees.. I politely said excuse me as they walked by and asked if they knew who management was. Tammy, who honestly looked like she came from a long day of working on the garbage truck, dirty clothes, and very unkept appearance, rudely replied that she was the manager, I then asked if I could have a minute of her time, snapped loudly at me, "Can I have a minute!?" I couldn't believe it and just replied, "Wow, so much for customer service." I then proceeded up to the lobby to see if there was somebody above her that I may speak with as her unprofessional behavior was way out of line. I was met with lie after lie by the office staff telling me they couldn't pronounce her bosses name, they couldn't provide me with contact info for complaints, this literally is a dump, run by a bunch of trash. WILL NOT BE BACK. YUCK

Neat and clean with very comfy beds.

I came to Sonora to reunite with my dear friend visiting from Florida. I checked out several motels ahead of time that were near where my friend was staying. Aladdin Inn had some good reviews and I definitely didn't need any fancy~schmansy place to rest my head. I booked a 2 day stay. Arriving much earlier than the 3:00 check in time, I was told there was a $30.00 early check in fee. Ok...Cathy will go find something to do till then. The gal at the desk was very kind and told me to come back between 1:30 and 2:00 and she'd get me in early. Very nice.! Fast forward....I enter the room and was soooo happy! It was clean, quite spacious, nice shower, and two really big pluses? It had a ceiling fan AND the AC was on and the room was nice and cool. It being over 100° I was thrilled! ( Yes here to see friend, but that morning her sister had some issues with a knee replacement from the previous day. She had to go to Modesto. Our reunion was postponed til next day.) So I'm chillen ( Literally) and try to turn on TV. Nothing? A very sweet maintenance guy came to look at it and diagnosed it as a bad TV...not outlet. He brought me a new one! Yeah. Only trouble was it only got 2 stations. SYFY and BRAVO. Turns out Comcast has not fixed the issue that apparently is ongoing. The ONLY reason for a 4 rating. Note: Aladdin Inn DOESN'T offer breakfast but the restaurant adjacent (Happy Garden Cafe) is excellent! So for 2 nights my bill was $210.00 total! I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a clean affordable lodging!

Our room is the first window past the chairs. Cigarette butts are all around, and the empty beer box is next to the trash.

I pride myself in leaving factual yelp reviews so here I go. -Location is PERFECTLY a short block away from the hustle bustle of the Main Street for coffee, bagels, meals, shopping, or maybe even a scoop of ice cream -Check in/out process was so warm and hospitable -We stayed in the Prospector Room because we were traveling with our dog, so took value in the private patio. Our room was cozy and spotless. Thankful for the AC unit as we visited on a hot weekend. Our dog enjoyed relaxing in the shaded patio. Our bed was comfy, more on the soft than firm, but did not hurt my back whatsoever. -OMG THE BREAKFAST. Kim is an UH-mazing cook. Perfect portion, flavor, not too heavy/complex, but certainly delicious. I am glad to have visited Sonora, but not sure if I'd make it an annual trip, to replace it with Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, or Napa. Nothing terrible happened, but I didn't have my socks knocked off either. Maybe it was the hot weather...not sure! If you plan on visiting Gold Country, do stay at the Bradford Place Inn and Gardens! We will.

Kim (Owner) was so wonderful, sweet and very accommodating to my wife's dietary needs etc., when preparing our delicious breakfasts. Each day, our breakfast was prepared fresh, warm and delicious. Breakfast (forgot to take a picture, too good to wait) included a protein, fresh fruit, warm pastries, ice water, orange juice and coffee. Just the right amount to get your day off to a good start... We loved this old Victorian home, it's beautiful. Some rooms, like ours, have a private patio area connected to your room. Very relaxing... Although, we don't have any pets, this place is "pet friendly". Next time, we're in the area, we'll be staying here again. Kim is such a gracious hostess and good person. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you staying here... I found this place to be very reasonable, relaxing, beautiful and includes a delicious breakfast, compared to a typical "no tell motel"!!!

As many of you know, I mostly review eating establishments but occasionally branch out. The Inn itself is cozy, comfortable, and extremely homelike and charming in so many ways, especially among the furnishings, memorabilia, and amenities like coffee and water stations. Let me, however, concentrate on breakfast... yes, the food which is AMAZING. Rhonda and team are such talented chefs, and the food was not only mouthwatering delicious but very creative. The initial cream filled pear was such a delicious treat and everything that followed, the tiny quiche, skewer of savory flavor, etc. were extraordinary. Honestly, I have had many B&B breakfasts, and this surpassed them all. I highly recommend the Inn and commend Rhonda and Fred for creating a wonderful experience for their guests.

It's the only trail near the lake that is not dog friendly and of course it has to be the coolest one. -Downtown wasn't as busy as we had anticipated which was nice, it's still did not help that the sidewalks are extremely narrow and the road through Sonora is busy at all times. If you have a skittish pup, make sure you are on high alert Here's a review if you don't have a pup. The hotel is a sister hotel to the Sonora Inn. You have to walk across the street once you've parked to check-in and pick up your room keys. The continental breakfast is also served at the Sonora Inn. The breakfast is simple, having items like cereal, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, and coffee. Parking has to be the worst idea between these two hotels. The one and only parking lot for both hotels is the Hotel Lumberjack parking lot. If you are planning on walking around or going out on Saturday, make sure your car is parked in the parking lot by 6:00 PM or you will not get parking again. You will have to park on the street or somewhere on the main street. As aforementioned, even though these are dog friendly spaces, they are not thought with dogs in mind. Not having a simple relief area is ridiculous. The three stars really are for the parking lot and also for the paper thin walls. If we were you, we would ask for a second story room. Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to give this historic 1850 inn a chance. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We stayed in Room 14, which was advertised as having a queen bed, but it was actually a full-size bed. The room itself was very small, and while it contained beautiful antique furnishings, it felt neglected rather than charming. The window air conditioner was outdated and awkwardly installed, the shower barely drained, the toilet paper holder had been poorly glued back onto the wall, and the towel bar repeatedly fell off. The old wall heater also appeared outdated enough to raise safety concerns. Outside, the disappointment continued. The swimming pool was green, the grounds felt unkempt, and the property overall looked dirty and cluttered. Instead of feeling like a treasured historic inn, it felt like a place that has been left to slowly deteriorate. What makes this especially sad is the incredible potential this property still has. After returning to our room, I looked into the history of the Gunn House and found photos and information from the previous owners. It was evident they had intentionally preserved the hotel's historic character and created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Since the ownership changed around 2017, it appears that only the bare minimum has been done to maintain the property. Many of the photos currently used online seem to reflect the inn during its better years rather than its present condition. The Gunn House deserves better. It is a historic treasure with rich Gold Rush heritage, and it should be restored by owners who are passionate about preserving its legacy. With proper investment, thoughtful restoration, and professionals experienced in historic properties, this inn could once again become one of Sonora's crown jewels. Instead, it currently feels like a neglected landmark waiting for someone to bring it back to life. I genuinely hope that happens one day, because beneath the grime and deferred maintenance, you can still see glimpses of the beautiful hotel the Gunn House once was.

I'm a really picky rider, in that I want to make sure the establishments I choose to ride with take great care of their horses and the staff are seasoned riders/guides. One look at these horses told me everything I needed to know. All horses were so well-muscled and well fed, and very well behaved. The staff from the receptionist to the guides were wonderful. Lily especially, she really stood out as a warm and caring guide, and knew every horse by name. Riley was such a responsible guide, kept checking to take sure our cinches were tight throughout our ride. The terrain was very very rugged and not for the faint of heart, but these horses were very sure-footed and freakishly agile, climbing the rocks like mountain goats. We gained a thousand feet of elevation and they weren't even out of breath. After 3 days spent with them, we didn't want to go home! Needless to say, we will be back in a few weeks for more.

This year we stayed in cabins 17 and 20, which worked out perfectly for our two families. During our stay we went hiking, horseback riding, and enjoyed several meals at the restaurant. The horseback ride up to Kennedy Meadows Lake is a must-do, and the restaurant serves some really great food. The weather was absolutely perfect, and there's just something special about unplugging and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The only downside is the reservation process. You have to book about a year in advance, and it can take a lot of phone calls before you get through. It would be nice if there were a waitlist or a more streamlined reservation system for returning guests. That said, we appreciate the old-school charm and usually just take whatever dates or cabins we can get when the opportunity comes up. Despite the reservation challenge, we keep coming back year after year because it's such a wonderful place to make family memories. Highly recommend the horseback rides, the hike to Kennedy Meadows Lake, and dining at the restaurant!
