Surprised I have never reviewed this location, I'm a big fan of Aladdin's and this is my most frequently visited as it's closest to home. Their menu is extensive and for me specifically it is the most amazing joy to have vegetarian option after option when so many other places are limited for me. I have made a meal out of the vegetarian combo platter before, which is an appetizer platter perfect for splitting between two people. Tonight we did exactly that and everything is evenly portioned for two which is so nice, nobody getting more of one thing than another. It has grape leaves, baba ghanoush, hummus, falafel and tabouli. Perfect combo of flavors and comes with pita for dipping or piling it all on. Our absolutely lovely server also offered some hot sauce which seemed to be homemade and, although I am not a big hot anything person, smelled delicious. Along with other platters, rolled pitas and salads, they have a long list of pita pizzas which I had never previously tried so we decided to go with one of those to split. We got one with garlic butter, roasted spinach, banana peppers, tomatoes and feta and it was a very good choice. The pita itself had a somewhat smoky flavor from the char and I liked how that was thin and kept the focus on the plentiful toppings. They also have some fantastic desserts here. Just look at the case and you will be convinced. There were a couple of chocolate cakes that looked delicious but we went for the carrot cake and it was fantastic with visible pieces of carrot and walnuts. We were very full and thinking about skipping dessert but splitting this was worth it. There is ample inside seating, just a simple no-frills environment but comfortable, and during the summer they set up a few tables outside on Washington Road which I have enjoyed eating at before. Overall this is an extremely solid Mediterranean spot, and I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. I ate here a few days ago and forgot to write a review. Being a rather hot day like today, we decided to sit outside since it was windy enough to not be super cold as it would have been super cold inside due to the ac. Our waitress was a lovely girl and very helpful. We had an order of grape leaves and a salad with tuna streak. I am a bit picky with my tuna and I did find it a bit more dry but I think that is a hit or miss here. I love how their menu indicates what is vegan, gluten free, vegetarian and there is another indicator but I can't remember which one it is. For the price you pay for your food, it is pricey and I was expecting a little bit more of toppings since the salad was mostly just greens. Pros: Friendly Food is good Their mint tea is the best ever! Their menu shows what is vegan, gluten free, etc at the bottom of each page. Cons: It's pricey for what you get Gluten free options are limited. Their pitas aren't gluten free friendly which is something I use to eat before I found out that I can't eat anymore. (I wish they would have a gluten free pita so we can enjoy their rolls too.) Parking: Due to construction, the street parking seems limited but there are a few public parking areas where it costs $2 dollars to pay for the time being. The servers are always nice and attentive, the place is very clean, and I've had many good dishes here. The soups, salads, appetizers, desserts, coffees, and teas have always been tasty. I went to dinner last night, however, and the tuna was so well done and dried out that it was difficult to chew and swallow. I'm pretty sure they would have been happy to replace it, but I didn't ask. I should have. My fault. I would recommend sitting away from the windows on the left side if you want peace. If you get seated in the front --especially on the right as you face the restaurant-- there is nothing to absorb any sound there. Every noise is very amplified to the point of making conversation with your dining partners difficult. One of the best eating experiences I have had recently. My wife and I were looking to go out one night, but we didn't want to eat something super unhealthy. Unfortunately in the South Hills your options are pretty limited. We had been meaning to give Aladdin's a try so we decided to stop. From the time we walked in we were treated amazing by the staff. Our server was fun and friendly, and explained the dishes they were known for and her recommendations. They were also playing some music which added to the great experience. For an appetizer we went with the servers recommendation of the spicy cauliflower. The cauliflower was lightly crisped and coated in two different sauces. One seemed spicy and one seemed sweet, which made for a very different and great taste. The cauliflower was cooked perfectly as well. For my meal I went with Farmer's Pita Pitza. I love pita bread and love pizza so these dishes they offer were an easy pick. Mine came topped with garlic sauce, hot sauce, cheddar cheese, spinach, yellow squash, zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, and banana peppers. Visited on a Saturday evening in late summer. Less busy than usual with the hotter bistros on Washington Rd apparently getting most of the business this night. I was seated promptly and the young person who seated me returned fairly quickly to ask me if I wanted to order a drink or was ready to go ahead with full order. I tried the Mediterranean Lamb plate, Lentil Soup, and small Baba. Food was excellent overall. The lamb was tender and the portion was generous. Actually, portions were generous across the board. Something I especially enjoyed was that unlike most restaurants offering this cuisine (and most restaurants, really), the food was not oversalted. You could actually taste the natural flavors. Everything tasted very fresh. Also, I'll note that the rice that provided a base for the Lamb was great; it was not the bland, ordinary yellow rice typically encountered but a properly cooked (not overcooked) medley and it included pine nuts. I had to take off one star because there was a bit of "serve and forget" even though the place wasn't busy. I had to get a server's attention for a water refill. The servers were young and seemed like they could use additional training in the little things. Overall though, I had a great, hearty meal for one for less than $33 including tax and tip. It was probably enough food for two, honestly, thus making for an even better value. The menu offers many salads and my take is that there are a lot of options for the health conscious. The following is what I call an "anti-cheesecake." I have yet to actually take a bite of it, but I would say that the serving size for this $7.00 (yes--SEVEN DOLLARS) piece of cake is approximately 3 ounces. It would literally be impossible to cut a piece of food thinner than this cake was cut. I don't know if this is a supply issue, or just cheapness on the part of the restaurant, but it is the equivalent of a feather's worth of food. Everything was DELICIOUS! I've lived in the Middle East for several years and let me tell you, the food at this restaurant is pretty close to authentic middle eastern food. I got three items - dawali, mango smoothie and lamb platter. The dawali was a bit soar but with the feta cheese & olive oil garnish, the dish was excellent. The mango smoothie was neither too sweet not too creamy. The texture was just right. The seasoning on the rice in the lamb platter was well seasoned and the combination of garlic sauce, lamb and rice was oh-my-god so good. I have eaten there since the very season that they opened. Their falafels have improved after a couple dry and improperly dressed ones I had years ago. I am usually satisfied with the taste and seasonings. However, I bought a piece of "cheesecake" to go for over $8. When I got home I took the tissue off and saw that it was half sponge cake and half something else (probably cheesecake because I did not taste it). It was quite thin and small in size. I ireturned it immediately and after some resistance and being accused of eating some of it "Becky" (who is pleasant and works hard) agreed to refund my card and must have punched about 70,keys on the register. She gave me a receipt for the refund but it is now 3 days later and it hasn't shown up. She said the cakes were presliced but after my experience buying other pieces of cake I don't think that is true. They wouldn't display cakes that are precut, I don't think. I read more

I go here every time I visit and it is always delicious! The cauliflower appetizer is so good I want their secret recipe. Service is always prompt and nice. When we told our server that we were sharing a smoothie she gave it to us in two glasses with a little extra in both which was very nice. I will never be able to put into words just how much I love Aladdin's. I can easily walk to it, sit down in one of the cozy little booths in this not-to-big-not-to-small joint, mull over exactly what I want, and never be disappointed - plus, I always get my food very quickly, so whoever is in this kitchen, keep doing what you're doing! If you're looking to get an appetizer with your meal, I highly recommend the pita and/or salads, which always have super tasty seasonings - they're super flavorful ways to start your meal off for sure. As for the main course, while there's a pretty decent number of options I'm addicted to their rolled pitas, which range from basic chicken and honey mustard dishes to Mediterranean-styled lamb or beef pitas, complete with special house sauces and dressings. I rarely get their desserts, not from lack of quality but from lack of room - the food here is extremely filling, even if you split it with a friend like I often to. That said, I can testify from my occasional splurges that the desserts here are pretty darn good, so long as you're in the mood for cake. If not, there's both a frozen yogurt and an ice cream shop a block or two down the road. They're super easy to get to and find, assuming that you don't opt to order your dinner online in advance and then take it home, although I think this service is more there to allow someone to plan hours in advance, as opposed to suddenly deciding, Hey I want Aladdin's! At that point you may as well go to the restaurant, since they don't deliver. Second time ordering Aladdin's takeout during COVID and second great experience. Yelp has said it will take 40-60 minutes each time but I've received my orders within around 20 minutes each time (I live 5-10 minutes away). Hummus is great and wonderful with the additional buffalo sauce. Comes with a pita, olive, tomato slice, and cucumber slice. Stopped here for dinner on a Monday evening with my friend. The first thing you see when you walk in is the case of desserts; they all looked delicious and I had to avert my eyes to stay on my healthy eating goal! The restaurant was buzzing but we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. Our waitress was very friendly and she had a trainee with her so we received excellent customer service throughout the entire meal; they were consistently checking on us! We picked Aladdin's to try and satisfy both of our dietary restrictions (Mine is low carbs and my friend is vegan). After doing some research on the menu, she was very impressed with all of the vegan options (not just salads, but vegan wraps, soups, appetizers, and bowls! They also customized her smoothie order to be vegan which she was very thankful for. I myself hose the baba ganouj appetizer with vegetable dippers instead of warm pita. It comes in three sizes- small, regular, and large. I got the regular portion since I was getting a light salad entree, and it ended up being about 4 cups of spread which was a lot for me, I took about half home! In hindsight a solo person should probably get the small size as the regular seems to be for sharing! I also got the Lebanese Salata, a salad of spring mix greens, parsley, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, and olive oil/lemon juice dressing. It was excellent and also a large portion. I was very happy with it. As a side note: it is very wet, the remaining salad did not survive for lunch the next day. One thing I didn't like was how it seems we weren't getting the full picture when ordering. When I asked for the baba dish with vegetables instead of pita, I was charged for the vegetables as if I just ordered them on the side. The waitress did not mention it would be an up charge. She also asked if I wanted hot sauce on it and did not mention 'would you like to 'add on' hot sauce'? Same goes for my friends salad. She asked if my friend would like a soup or salad with her wrap, and it was extra. But it came off like would you like a choice between a soup or a salad, not would you like to ADD a soup or salad. I mean maybe it was just this particular waitress's way of communicating, but it was confusing. If you aren't sure, definitely ask does this come with a side dish? Is it an up charge to substitute so-and-so? Etc! I will go back again because it was really awesome that we found a place that, like I said, can work for both of our dietary restrictions!
