Large Reuben with very tasty fries
    Kathryn F.

Frigid ... cold ... even the bathroom was freezing cold. The regulars at the bar were all dressed in hoodies and scarves. The spinach pie, Reuben, and fries were very hot. Big fan of eeewy gooey cheese and crispy fries. Looking forward to trying the shrimp gyros and stuffed grape leaves ... at a warmer franchise.

Got dinner and drinks here with some friends and had a great time! We just got chicken fingers and french fries, and. They were great. The French fries were so good, and the workers were incredibly nice and friendly!

For a restaurant to sell Greek food in PA the food was ok. I asked for tzatziki and was given a house dressing. (Wasn't bad but not what I asked for). The gyro could have used more seasonings and the fries didn't have any salt or seasoning. The quesadilla was very meaty and worth money. The spanakopita aka spinach pie was a little dry. I wouldn't say it was terrible but very bland.

Chances are that if you are from Pittsburgh, you've had Mike and Tony's before. With multiple locations around the city, it is easy to get your gyro fix from this staple restaurant. We started with a couple of drinks on draft including a sour and a sangria. We went with a chicken gyro and an original with all the fixins. They hit the spot every time and keep you coming back for more. Definitely a great small business to support in Pittsburgh!

We had the most wonderful person seating and serving tonight! Class act all the way!!!!

    Really really dried out wings

Solid 4 stars. Ordered take out, honestly was a complex order, lot of extra sauces, stuff on side, ranch, blue cheese. Anyway, the gyros mmm very good, they do not skimp on the meat or sauce or toppings. Chicken & lamb gyros were awesome. Very happy with that. The stuffed peppers, can't complain about anything there, hit the spot. Grape leaves = also hit the spot, not as fresh as I've had before but very good with a little wedge of lemon. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the wings man.. sooo overcooked, not burnt but just so very dry, chicken jerky basically. The cook should not have sent those out. We don't like to waste so we tried using the ranch, blue cheese, bbq sauce & tried to stomach them but just couldn't chew them enough, and our dog was not even having it, she would take it & drop it.. spoiled? Maybe but fat at heart & rarely doesn't eat something we give her. So in conclusion everything els is excellent here, maybe pass on the jerky chicken wings though. Can't post pics of other items because they were too good to put down once I started eating them.

My husband and I ate one lunch here. Indoor and covered outdoor seating was available. The employees promptly greeted and seated us, and I appreciated that they recommended specific menu items to help me choose. After a reasonable wait, the foods were brought to our table. Here are my ratings for what we ordered: Grilled Shrimp - 5 stars - Several large, juicy shrimp were on skewers and had been perfectly cooked. Sides were mixed vegetables and a mix of rice and bulgur. Chicken Shish Kebab - 4 stars - The chunks of chicken were large and juicy and had a mild seasoning. On the side was rice pilav. Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

Falafel appetizer was very, very hard and chewy. Even with a serrated knife it was difficult to cut! Shepherd Salad was fresh but was mostly red and green bell peppers. Very little tomato or cucumber or onion which I was expecting. Not their fault but mine for not knowing about this salad. Again they were super nice and offered to take it back. Donor Kebab was over cooked. Dry. Chewy. Tzatziki sauce was fine. I ordered two extra mini-cups of tzatziki to help me finish the donor kebab. (Extra $1). Bread was very good. I ordered the Turkish Tea but it never came : (

We were confused as to where the actual restaurant was. There is a sign on Route 8, so we parked there, looked around, walked downstairs, only to find it was offices. We then walked upstairs and found that the entrance was actually on the other side of the building but accessible from the front. It's an interesting place when you walk in. We were quickly greeted and seated. It seemed as though the owner and family were working. The menu was interesting, not real large but sufficient. We had, who I believe is the owner, come to our table and ask what we typically like to eat and then she was making suggestions. We thought she was just being helpful. My wife finally looked at her and said, I'm sorry are you also taking flour order now? She replied well that's what I was trying to do. To me that was a little off putting. We all took her suggestions and ordered. The food came out fresh and warm. It was good. We all tried each others meals. We felt that what my wife ordered was the best. The place isn't huge inside but it was fairly busy. It was a little pricey but not bad.

My favorites were: 1) the char-grilled octopus - so tender 2) chicken souvlaki - the roasted veggies were so good with the smokiness of the chicken! 3) the salmon on top of the Elia salad - it was cooked to perfection. Juicy and flaky! Our server was the one who recommended the Elia Salad with salmon on top with the Champgane Vinaigrette. But, we went with the Greek dressing... I think we would have liked her recommendation more because the combo of salmon and salad was spot on! She definitely knew what she was doing and what tastes good! We sat in the indoor patio-like area and it was very bright with natural light and I love the exposed wood deco inside. It feels rustic and classy at the same time. Such a nice vibe, would definitely come again with a group of people to have a filling and and diverse meal!

Seeing him still there, working hard after all these years, was genuinely heartwarming. We visited over a busy holiday weekend, and although things were hectic, I couldn't help but feel for the owner, who was doing his best despite his age. I just wish the younger staff had stepped in to help him a little more. The food had some great highlights. The lamb kabob was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, the hummus was delicious, the lemon potatoes were amazing, and I enjoyed the sampler platter with the stuffed grape leaves. Overall, Christos has a lot of charm, history, and heart. I truly hope this Pittsburgh staple is around for many more years. With a little more attention to the service, the experience could easily match the quality of the food.

The server, Christos, who is 86 years old, came out to greet me as I was looking at the menu on the window. He certainly has a lot of charm and decided to take a chance. He doesn't understand English too well but definitely knows how to upsell. He asked me if I wanted hummus and bread, so I naturally thought it was part of the meal, but it was an additional four dollars. I ordered the great version of the Shepherd pie and he asked me if I wanted boiled potatoes since it was his grandmother's recipe. Again, I should have asked, but didn't realize I was going to be charging another five dollars as well as for anchovies on the salad. He seemed a little offended when I said I didn't really enjoy the Onassis dessert which he raved about and suggested that if I didn't like it, he would not charge me. Because I did not, and wanted to try the baklava sundae, he instead deliver the regular Baklava although it was not very crunchy and actually pretty soft and soggy like it had been sitting around and then microwaved. Probably the worst I've ever had. But he didn't charge me for the Onassis dessert. The salad was actually very good, particularly because of the added anchovies. The boiled potatoes were not anything special so I would pass if offered another chance. Sorry, grandmother! The main dish was also not very fresh and the Lamb tasted a little gamey. The "complementary" vegetable with the meal was green beans, which were very soggy and overcooked. Similarly, the rice tasted like it had been sitting around and prepared days ago. I also found two hairs on my plate. For $50, I would've expected a little bit more other than some interesting stories of how he used to work for Jackie O. But the worker who was sitting in the dining room and doing his own belching contest certainly added to the ambience as he was organizing the cutlery. Now I can understand why the place was so empty. I had planned to go to gaucho's down the block, but the wait was 30 minutes. Next time I will go to gaucho's instead.
