FANTASTICO! This place is a breath of fresh air for Oberlin, replacing a decidedly ho-hum Java Zone coffee shop that used to exist, just barely, on this corner. Aladdin's is a small Ohio chain with almost 30 locations and we've actually been in the original one in Lakewood and the one in the shopping center in Westlake. Both are delightful, as is this one. We had dinner here with 11 family members and sampled a huge variety of their dishes: Greek Chicken Salad, Fattoush, Taza Chicken Salad, Greek Pitza, Sultan's Sharwama Pitza, Aladdin's Lamb Rolled Pita, Spicy Kafta Rolled Pita, Arayiss Pitza, Kid's Grilled Cheese Pita, smoothies, tea and assorted Baklava for dessert. Great food and decent service. Price seemed pretty reasonable given the quality. Vegetarian appetizer plate was spot on. The hummus and falafel were excellent. They even have a house-made hot sauce that was quite tasty without being overly hot. Wraps were good. Pretty good. Nice wait staff. Lots of room inside. Convenient location. Open pretty late and open seven days a week. Kids can eat here comfortably. Food is pricey for just hummus in a so-so pita, but if you're just visiting Oberlin and you're looking for a place to sit down and eat, you could definitely do worse than this. read more

Having been to a LOT of restaurants in the Middle East, I took my Father here as a surprise when I was home. The hummus and tabouleh were both out of sight, but I was a bit dissapointed by the lamb my 2nd time there. It just didn't have the spice and flavor, and the succulence it usually does. Their portions are very generous, and the cost is excellent. I was satisfied with the lamb, but I didn't walk away savoring the aroma and flavors for a reminder until next time. read more

Convenient corner location on/near the Oberlin College campus; across from a park. Easy street parking. Excellent wait staff including Sophia who waited on our table. Perfect sweet strawberry smoothie; loved that it was dairy-free. Loved the hot, well-seasoned Jasmine's Favorite --chickpeas, beans and vegetables on top of brown rice. I ordered it topped with Lebanese Salata; I would recommend trying it with a hot topping rather than the cold salata topping. I ordered the beef kabab dinner. The plate came out with half plate of rice (with pine nuts and almond slices) and six small cubed pieces of beef. Nothing else for $14.95. Rice was not exceptional in any way and the beef was not tender. I am assuming that I just ordered the "wrong dish" but based on this experience, I wish I could give zero stars. Super good! I love Aladdin's! Item's in the menu aren't pretend Arabian food. It's real. Also, I don't know if that's true for most Aladdin's restaurants, but the music is genuine Arabic music. I just wish they had done more with the decorations to make it more Middle Eastern. read more

We happened upon this place while we were traveling through and we are so glad we did! The food was delicious! The prices were good and the service was great too! My favorites were the baba ganouj and kibbie appetizers. My husband had sifha and son had the beef kafta rolled and they were both delicious. The hummus was very good too. The appetizer portion for the hummus and baba ganouj were generous. We ordered the small and there was plenty to share. Be sure to try the desserts! We took baklava and pita bread to go. read more

Today there was a slight mix-up w my order, perhaps a miscommunication - no big deal. I called, and the person who answered immediately said, "Let me get my manager so we can make this right". ok! The manager gets on the phone, sweet as could be, I explain the situation and add it may be the way I worded my order. The manager's reply is, "Would you like to come by to pick up a new order, or can I take your information and have a credit waiting for future use?" Holy cow! This is much more than I expected, but then I realized this ease of providing service to the customer is exactly what I'd like to be able to expect from everywhere. I felt irrevocably in love with tabbouleh, sfiha and kibbeh since the first bite, when I was a kid in Rio de Janeiro (where at that time there was a considerable Lebanese population). We used to eat them frequently. Imagine how excited I was to visit Aladdin at Oberlin, in Ohio! So I ordered exactly that: tabbouleh, sfiha and kibbeh and the disappointment I had is almost indescribable... The tabbouleh was swimming in lemon juice and had no olive oil; the sfiha was a pita bread (yes, I kid you not!) rolled into a triangle that was baked to a wooden consistency; and the kibbeh looked picture-perfect, but tasted nothing like the real thing. The place was dark and gloomy when we came in from the glorious sunny day outside, but I never choose/judge a restaurant for its looks! Our table was so sticky we had to ask the server to clean it; we had to deal as best we could with the sticky menus. I sat against a wall, on a bench. Suddenly these extremely loud thuds were heard and my seat shook a little bit. The thudding kept going on and on and people at nearby tables started looking in our direction. I asked the server what was going on and we were told they were cutting veggies! So, we decided to leave them to abuse the poor veggies in piece and moved to a different table. Wow! New Year's Day found us enjoying an AMAZING dinner after a long day of winter driving. This gem offered the freshest baba, hummus, and tabouli. Hot mint tea warmed the soul and offered the perfect complement to outstanding Tiramisu and Aladdin (house) desserts served in large portions. Amazing people who work here. Ordered this on doordash and the Dasher forgot an item and they completely helped out with everything. We got a hold of doordash and got a new Dasher to deliver food. Then 10 minutes after ordering the servers says "it will be 20-15 minutes until your order is ready, would you like to order any appetizers?" What happened to the usual good service? Aladdin's is probably my favorite go-to restaurant. I eat there, at least 1-2 times per week. I've been to every location in the Cleveland area and also in the Pittsburgh area, where I travel to frequently for work. I've been to Aladdin's more than 100 times and I have NEVER left disappointed. The menu and food prep is usually consistent in all locations. I was in the area for an event and thought that I would stop in this location for a casual Sunday lunch. This was my first (and last time), at this location. I was seated by a server, who was a bit dry. There were only 5 or 6 people in the restaurant and she seated my right outside the kitchen, I placed my order, I pretty much know the menu by heart. The same server brought a basket of pita bread. The basket contained at least 8 pieces of pita triangles and each one was stale and inedible. I asked for a fresh basket, which I received a short time later. I ordered the Cranberry Walnut Salad, which is my favorite salad. The salad should contain mixed greens, lebanese salata (onions, peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers), quinoa, walnuts, cranberries and topped with feta cheese and dressed with lemon olive oil dressing. The salad that I was served included a sad serving of wilted greens, very little, if any, salata, walnuts, very few cranberries and an overwhelming amount of pine nuts (which are not supposed to be in the salad). The server informed me that they were out of feta (what!) and conveniently brought me a side of cheddar (not!). I tasted exactly 2 fork fulls and the salad tasted as sad as it looked. The dressing had absolutely no flavor, none of the lemony goodness that I'm used to. Not even sure that the salad was dressed in olive oil. The dressing tasted more like vegetable oil. I think that that whomever prepared the salad tried to compensate the absence of feta with the pine nuts. I wondered if they thought that I wouldn't notice the difference? The server offered to have the salad re-made. I politely declined and immediately exited the restaurant and stopped at the Aladdin's in Crocker Park, on my way home and had a meal that was worth of the Aladdin's name. read more

I went to Aladdin's for dinner on the night the water main in Oberlin broke--a difficult issue for restaurants to deal with because it affects not only the restrooms but also their ability to clean dishes, clean food, and thus what they are able to serve. The staff at Aladdin's handled the issue calmly and professionally by doing their best to compensate for what they were lacking because of the water issues. For example, they had Dasani bottled water for every guest free of charge. The menu had a wide variety of clearly labeled vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. A refreshing place to eat while in Oberlin. I was overjoyed to discover I could still get a good meal for under ten dollars. I especially enjoyed the spinach pie and chicken lentil -chili. It has recently become necessary for me to follow a strictly heart healthy diet and I have found that Aladdin's has become my go to place for fast food! There's almost nothing in here that I cannot have! I started with a small order of hummus which is by no means small; it's definitely shareable! I used to go to their Amherst location as it was just down the street from my office. I keep coming now that they have moved to Oberlin, its a great change of pace, but far from authentic and the hummus is more oil than either chickpeas or tahini and not very good olive oil by the taste of it. After a crazily stressful week in life and work, I headed to Aladdin's Eatery in Oberlin. I had just been going blindly through the last few days as the news of a terrible accident in our family has sucked up my time and energy. This added to the stress of teaching special needs children with behavior problems and a day that included being cursed and and threatened by a mother and a student and a gushing nose bleed in the middle of a meeting. I was looking for food therapy. Knowing that Aladdin's has such wonderful and healthy meals I headed there. What I got was so much more than wonderful service and perfectly made food. I got a respite a moment to decompress and allow the calm ambiance fill me up. I was really looking forward to eating here, heard good things about the food. We went in, were seated and given menus. We looked over the menus deciding what we wanted to eat. For 15 minuets nobody said anything to us. No one asked about drinks, no one said we'll be right with you, nothing! Then we're not that busy at all, only 6 other tables had people at them! I used to eat at this location (Oberlin) almost every other day. Seriously. For a few years in fact. And for quite sometime never had any problems. I would only do take out. I never ate inside. And the staff were courteous. Until one day, I ordered on of my usual items, the spinach salad, and got severely ill. I hadn't ate anything many hours prior, and ended up throwing up, etc. The only thing that came up was the salad. Very, very, ill. The spinach salad made me sick for a few days. I don't know if there should have been a recall on the spinach at the time, or if it was a hygienic issue? Never again. I was violently ill for days. Very, very upsetting. I quit going there obviously and never went back. Take caution to the salads. I might try another location in the Cleveland area one day, but this scared me permanently and I have not ate at another one since this location.
