Wow this place is a gem! I was in the mood for some good Chinese food and we drove 30 minutes from Vermilion and it was definitely worth it. We found parking really easily on the street and were greeted and seated right away. The menu is pretty simple but it was still so hard to decide what to get bc everything looked so good. We started with scallion pancakes and wonton soup. I got the stir fried noodles with beef and my mom got the diving beef at the recommendation of the waiter. We FINALLY found a good a Chinese restaurant on the far west side. Everything authentic and made to order. The wonton soup was so good and different than any wonton soup we've had before. The shrimp chips were made right after we ordered them. They even came out warm. This place is top notch. The female owner came out and chatted with us. Fresh ingredients not the usual frozen/prepackaged,then reheated style. From the noodle on the wonton in the soup, to the sauces, it seems more authentic. I def will be back recommend. Ambience? Very dark -- it makes me wonder what's in the corners see no one can see. Service is satisfactory for a relatively simple process. Braised eggplant was very flavorful. Why so much corn starch?? Diving beef was disappointing -- appropriate ingredients were used but the chef held back the flavors this dish normally demands. Once again, an unnecessary amount of corn starch which highlighted the off-balance of flavors. Side note -- both my son and I had nausea and massive headaches from the over-reliance on sodium. We went in after our Oberlin auditions looking for lunch and boba. We're from NY and bubble tea is a post audition/recital tradition. There weren't a lot of options at Oberlin. But this place had good reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. The boba was a surprise! The boba was soft! It wasn't as sweet as we'd like, but it was definitely good. The food was good too. They were able to do a gluten free chicken & vegetable dish for me. The sesame chicken was good. The eggroll was nice and crunchy and the wonton soup was good. Definitely would recommend! read more

The MoPo Tofu (vegetarian) dish was one of the best I have ever had. Incredible spice and flavor. Huge portions too.

Doesn't look like much when you walk by, but the food is easily really good for the price, and the service is somewhat quick if it's not too busy. The place is understaffed currently, but I find it not to be a problem on week days. The portions they serve are huge, so I suggest getting a box to go if you dine in. I like the General Tso tofu lunch special. The sauce is really good and the tofu is soft inside and crispy on the outside, and almost all their food is served piping hot so make sure to let it cool. Overall I've had a good experience, but if you sit towards the back of the restaurant, the music is a bit loud. read more

Absolutely amazing Chinese food! Loved the hot and sour soup and egg roll! The servings were generous, and tasty! Ambiance was a little lacking, but in my eyes the quality of the food was well worth it. Our server was very kind, and did a great job. I eat here regularly, and have always enjoyed the food. The hot and sour soup is a standout, the best I have ever had, and for a couple of decades I worked near Washington D.C.'s China Town back when it had many good Chinese restaurants. I do note some reviews here stating that the food is too sweet. I'm well known at this restaurant and have never had that problem, except one time when a new server took my order and Xueping wasn't aware that the order was for me. Unfortunately, Bingo has to cater to American tastes, but they will adjust. Just tell them that you don't want sweetness and, for instance, they'll omit the plum sauce from the Chicken Hunan. Similarly, they will adjust the heat if asked. There's also a more authentic Chinese menu if you ask. My own favorites are from the regular menu, Hunan Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice and Hot and Sour Soup. I've always found everything expertly prepared, including vegetables that are not overcooked. Just remember that they will adjust and do ask for any adjustments you desire. They also have vegetarian and gluten free options. read more

We just found this gem! I'm not sure how long they have been open but I have eaten here twice this week. A few days ago I ordered General Tsos chicken and I was so impressed. The chicken was tender, nice sticky rice and a huge portion for lunch. I brought my husband today and they did not disappoint. He ordered yuxaing shrimp and said it was the best sauce he has had. I got the cashew chicken and it is loaded with cashews and wonderful!! We also got dumplings in chili sauce for an appetizer that we loved and passion fruit boba tea. My coworker and I had some time to spare before going back to work. we decided to grab a bite here with no expectations. This food is absolutely amazing! The food was so fresh and tasted like authentic Chinese cuisine. I had the homemade dumplings and they were the best I've ever had. The portion size was gigantic! The Mushroom soup had a delicious clear broth with fresh broccoli and was not overly seasoned. The chef even came out to make sure that our orders were exactly what we wanted before it was prepared. This restaurant is a gem in a small town. We had Kung Bao Chicken and pork rolls. The portions are very large and could easily be shared by two people. The dish had a large majority of meat, compared to some restaurants that use more vegetables than meat in their dishes. The owner made a point of coming to our table and asked how we liked the food. When the old restaurant at this location closed and I hear a new one was opening, I was hopeful that new management and a new business idea would revitalize this space. All I can say is wow. Bingo had absolutely transformed eating in Downtown Oberlin- it is by far the best restaurant in town and is my #1 choice every time. The food is delicious, and service has improved significantly since they have hired more staff. I eat here often with Chinese students and they think the food is very authentic. There are great vegan/vegetarian options too- I would highly recommend the Yuxiang Eggplant. Just make sure that you request that the dishes be made vegan/vegetarian because many dishes have a meat equivalent. read more

Received a pick up order of sweet and sour chicken with egg rolls and fried rice. This meal was the worst Chinese food I have had in a long time. Chicken was very tough and the breaded coating soggy. I got the feeling it was a warmed up meal. The pork in the egg rolls was non-existant. The rice was greasy with no pork in it. It was supposed to be a pork egg roll. The cost was way overpriced. Was excited to try Bingo after reading other reviews. Didn't have menu so we ordered based on other reviewers - yuxaing shrimp, beef noodle soup and cashew chicken. The shrimp dish looked really good but it is way spicy so be warned if you aren't a spice person. The beef noodle soup only comes in a large container and its also very spicy (and its $14). The wonton soup is ok - just wontons in broth (no bok choy or pork pieces). I did not care for the cashew chicken - it had an unusual flavor that didn't appeal to me. There was also some mystery 'sauce' in a bowl that we weren't sure what to do with. Spring roll was good. Lunch takeout was $39 for the two soups and two entrees. My husband liked it better than I did because he likes spicy food. I'd like to try the yuxaing shrimp if it can be made regular. I'm adding pics of whole menu for future review readers. Amazing hidden gem! Not only authentic Chinese dishes but rarely find high quality. Things are all freshly made and served quickly. Service is excellent. Highlight is how the owner keeps heath and safety as highest priority, limiting number of tables, keeping social distance and ventilation.
