How do you start a review for a funeral home? First & foremost, Harry is no longer a part of Greer Family Mortuary on Blanding Ave -- ask him about it if you have a moment. I first met Harry when my mother was admitted into hospice, to make sure I can get a plan in place to fulfill her wishes. I visited other places but immediately when I came to Alameda Funeral Home, strange to say but it had an intimate home feel to it. It was comforting. The deciding factor was when I sat down & spoke to Harry. He doesn't sit there & sell you products and services but walks you through the difficult process to make sure you have what you want & need. I've been to maybe one funeral in my lifetime & now was time for me to plan one all by myself so you can imagine what was going through my mind. I mentioned that we were buddhist & Harry knew right away many of the aspects that were needed (not Harry's first rodeo, you know). Fast forward five months I get the dreadful news. I was going back & forth with Harry and the monk to make sure everything is how it should be. I had so many questions (you know, those questions that come up as soon as you hang up the phone) -- I'm sure Rosa picked up my calls over seven times per day. Harry even told me to call his cell phone directly if I needed to. The day came & the service went very well from initial setup to our final goodbyes, thanks to Harry, John, Linda and Rosa! I hope you don't have to be put in the same spot as I do -- clueless about planning a funeral service but if you do, don't bother going anywhere else. They even allow doggies there =] read more

As a little girl attending funeral services at my church, I can remember their family always being there. My sweet YiaYia passed and and when I called to start the burial process, Harry answered directly. He guided myself and my family each step of the way and made us feel like we were his only clients. Such an amazing business, both Mr. Greer & his assistant (I feel so bad, I'm horrible with names) were so helpful & compassionate. God truly placed them in their appropriate careers, they were a blessing & so helpful in such a grieving time. The pricing was affordable, we went elsewhere for the memorial, but when I came into the building, I must say I was a little sad we missed out, it was such a beautiful venue for a service. My family ordered a special order urn online, but didn't want to have to do any transfer (from the shipped remains). I called & was able to take the remains & urn into Alameda Cremations on the same day; they took care of everything for us while I waited 10 minutes at most. I highly recommend them, thank you guys for everything. read more
