My son dropped off three baseball pants (piping, pinstripes, and normal). He likes his uniforms altered to fit tighter .. tapered legs. It requires that the entire inseam ripped out and resewn. She completed all three within 2 weeks and did a wonderful job. He is very happy with the work. read more

I have been there several times and was happy with the work and the price. This last time she was so rude. I had two skirts worked on-one the hem and the other elastic replaced. She handed me two skirts folded up and not even in a bag. They should have been on hangers and in plastic. When I asked for a bag she said she did not have one. Definitely not going back! read more

I got a formal gown's hem shortened, it was $50 which was almost the same price as a dress but I've never gotten a dress altered so Idk if that's a lot or not. The thing that got me is it is cash only! I never carry cash so I went to pick it up but had to go back home to get money. I had a M2M suit from Hockerty slightly altered at Alamo Heights Tailor Shop. The only alterations I needed were pants hem and sleeves length. At the time I also got a shirt altered to shorten the sleeves. Miye was very professional and was able to do it all in less than two weeks. The quality of the job was great and the clothes fit perfectly. Finding the shop following the GPS may be a bit of a challenge, as mine sent me a block away from her location. Just look for a small "Alamo Heights Tailor Shop" when you turn and the shop should be right there. She was also very good at looking at the jacket, pants and suit individually to see if there was a need for alterations and if it was worth it or possible. Really helpful! read more

The lady here does great work. I took my wedding dress in to get taken up, taken in, and a lining added. It took her 2 fittings, 3 weeks, and just $170 to do it all. For a wedding dress, that's some cheap alterations. I've never taken anything else to her, but she had a lot of formal gowns and wedding dresses in there too, so it seems like lots of people trust her with expensive stuff. Someone refered me over here since my favorite sweater had a huge snag that caused a hole in the knit work. The other place I go to doesn't specialize in what was needed so I thought I would give this shop a try. I was told the sweater would take two weeks to repair...no biggie it's hot outside anyway. I came in three weeks later and was told it was still not finished and that she had taken it home. Ok, annoying, but I can swing by another day. Well, a week after that I show up and the knit work looks terrible. I could have attempted and had the same result. She almost laughed because she knew it looked bad, and said "Oh well I will only charge you $7." So a month later, $7 shorter, and my sweater still looks like crap. read more

I don't know where you're gonna find more personalized service than with Miye at Alamo Heights Tailor Shop. She is such a sweet lady, and is willing to help you with so much for such a great price. I'm a student, so funds can be a little limited. But being in graduate school I'm now dressing in business professional 3-4 times per week. That being said, I've gotten two of my suits tailored here and they've come out great! Both were a little big on me, needed hemming in the pants and arms, as well as tightening around the chest. One of them even needed to be brought in closer to my legs to so they would no longer look baggy. Miye did each one (with a decent amount of alterations) within a week for between $120-$150. Which for all she did was a great price. She is cash or check only though, so be aware. But she's also very understanding. I normally don't carry cash with me, so the first time I was a few dollars short (I forgot tax had not been factored in the price yet), and Miye didn't even mind. She simply said not to worry about it. I'll be sending all my friends and others in my graduate program to her should they need any alterations. If you need something done well, cheap and in a timely manner--go to Miye. read more

They handled my hem, gave me 3 busltes, fixed some beading and reinforced the delicate buttons along the back of the dress for under $200. Being a young man who had ever had clothes altered before, I wasn't sure what to expect when I first visited the Alamo Heights Tailor Shop. I had quite a few dress shirts that fit me well, but were a little too baggy for my liking and I wanted to see if it was possible to alter them to a "slim" or "modern" fit. I went in on my lunch break and explained my requests, got fitted and received an estimated completion date all within about 30 minutes. I brought in a suit and a blazer to be taken in. What I loved most was that she didn't want me to spend more than i should on the piece of clothing. By that I mean that she took the time to explain that certain alterations would cost more, and if the piece wasn't particularly expensive, it would almost be a better idea to just purchase a new jacket, or suit, etc. Further, she did a REALLY good job on the alterations. My jackets were taken in pretty extensively, and they ended up looking great on me when I came to pick them up. I would definitely return to her, and recommend her services. read more

Being 5ft tall and a whole 85 pounds, my clothes require A LOT of alterations. For years I was disappointed in the results unless I paid a fortune. I finally found Alamo Heights Tailor Shop and so long disappointment! Her work is amazing and at extremely reasonable prices. I have brought in pieces a size or two too big and a week later, the piece is suddenly made for my body. Not only is she good at making it fit the way you want, but she also offers great suggestions. Certain items she has suggested hemming at a certain length or taking in a little more than I originally thought necessary and the results are always perfect. I hate having an item that loses its original flare by looking too altered. She manages to do the same amount of alterations but in a way that the item looks as if it was made that way. I brought in my (short, 1950s-style) wedding dress with almost NO TIME before I was leaving for my out-of-town wedding. My husband brought his suit here as well. I was concerned because it took her a teeny bit longer to work on it than I had expected, but she worked on it on CLOSED days, and I only needed one fitting. The dress came out *perfectly* and cost less than $100 to alter. It needed quite a bit of work, and the fabric was complicated (layers of tulle and satin), and she did a FABULOUS JOB. My husband's suit was transformed as well. Highly recommended for this type of work! I'll probably be coming back for "normal" (i.e., non-wedding) clothes too. Very good customer service; met with me when the shop was closed so that I could have time, privacy, and the opportunity to talk over what I wanted. Made my wedding a lot more comfortable and much, much prettier. RECOMMENDED! Other tips: cash or check only. Call before bringing in your wedding dress to make an appointment. She does al the wedding dresses herself (so she needs a little time). She rushed mine with no extra charge, though. I had a really good experience here. read more

I brought my wedding dress here and Miye did such a wonderful job on it. I got a hem, a bustle and a bra built into the dress and the price came out very reasonable despite her having to hand stitch the hem so as not to damage the lace. It came out beautifully!!!
