I was able to score a sweet clearance day sale on 7 new pairs of slacks but they only had them with an inseam longer than I normally wear so I looked around and came across Lee Custom Tailoring which is not to far from my house and on my way to work. I called and they gave me a price for the rehemming of the pants and it was a fair price and it was still a deal on the total price of the pants due the clearance sale deal I got. I asked if there was a different charge for rehemming a pair of jeans I also needed done and she said it would be the same price, great. I go to drop off the pants on a Saturday and I ask how long it would take to get them done and she then asks me when I would like them done by....1 day, 2 days, 3 days or a week. She could make it happen depending on my need at no extra charge, very nice. I wasn't in a rush so I said 4 days would be fine (Thursday after work) and she said that would not be a problem. She rang up the total cost and informed that they only take payment in cash so when I come to pick up the pants on Thursday to please bring cash....no problem. I arrive on Thursday afterwork and pick up the pants and they are all ready, nine in total. When I get home and try them all on, they fit perfectly. Very poor quality alterations. went in for a hem, for an outfit that had an invisible hem stitch, I had asked them for the same alteration, they did a very cheap looking very visible alteration. Unfortunately since I left the review they have not been able to deliver the same standards since then. I went in in October trying to get some pants hemmed, she said ahe couldn't do it, ok understandable. i took a top and she said the same thing, ok understandable. i appreciate the honesty. The one pair she could do, I asked her how much, and she told me pay today, AND cash only ??? i'm all for give a deposit but my clothes should be the deposit? I had to find a bank near by and bank of America was closed, i drove around for a while and found a bank of america. Today I came in trying to get measured and I like to stick to one place or person because I hate looking around. I would think being someone who always come whether you can deliver or not it'd be a little more easier. I called at 3pm and asked if she could measure she said sure, I came in at 6pm because i know they close at 7 pm she said she's too busy to do it right now that she has someone coming in 10 minutes, i asked how long will it take, she said it won't be more than 5 minutes and to come back at 7. I'm nervous to leave and come back in case i get here after 7 and she's locked unfortunately and gone. If it won't take more than 5 minutes why can't you help me? A client came in to get something fixed and she stopped what she was doing to help them and it took more than 5 minutes !!! I walked back in at 6:50 because she was not answering the phone and she said come back tomorrow because she's working on another customer's item; the customer is in the lobby waiting... as i'm typing. idk it's not the same maybe she should hire some help read more

Although I was a little worried about trusting my wedding dress to someone whose work I didn't know firsthand, I was incredibly impressed at the job she did! She immediately pointed out what needed to be brought in and the work was done super quickly. It was about $60 to alter the two dresses, which is amazing compared to places that specialize in wedding dress alterations that cost a ton. I've had patches sewn on to my nursing school scrubs, had countless pants/jeans altered & had other scrub tops altered (I'm short, but the length in the tops is sometimes ridiculous). However, don't expect miracles if there's 500 kangaroo pockets, secret inner pockets and notches for every single pen and marker you own on the bottom end lol--be reasonable. I've had multiple garments altered and recently brought my daughter's school uniforms for alterations. The owner is very detailed and very good at what she does. Based on the number of garments on the pickup racks, you can tell they have a loyal following. I've seen military uniforms and police uniforms, so as long as you know your regulations and can measure the placement, I'm sure they can make it happen. I definitely would have used their services when I was active duty. Lee's is also much more reasonably priced than the other spot near the Dollar Tree on Babcock and depending on the workload, most items have had roughly a 5 day turnaround time. If you need it faster, you can ask but expect to pay slightly more. If they cannot accommodate, they'll let you know. It is also check/cash only so come prepared. If not, there's an ATM in the parking lot near the coffee stand. read more

I had 3 total items that needed work (hemming, lining). It took ~1week to get the pieces back. The needlework is solid and very reasonable priced. Tailor repaired an "invisible" zipper done so poorly by another tailor, I thought I was going to have to throw the formal gown / Mother of the Groom dress away. I need to fit multiple things in my scrubs and scrubs are not meant to be fashionable and tight! I brought a formal gown in here a few months ago for it to be shortened. The store, run by a Vietnamese couple, is tucked away in a small lot on the corner of Huebner and Babcock and can be easily missed if you're not paying attention. This is a no-frills tailor shop that features racks of altered clothing in the front, threadbare carpet, and no wall decorations. However, a dressing room complete with a floor-length mirror is available for garment fitting. A functional but unattractive place... The turnaround time depends on your clothing need deadline which the owner(s) will inquire about before you leave. Overall, I was pleased with the sewing work but not too excited about the price: $40. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Houston Chinatown prices? I will probably look around for a less expensive alternative but will be back if searching takes too much effort. Cash only. read more

Your tailor The Lee's have tailored almost everything I own. In fact, when I purchase new clothes I immediately drop them off with the Lee's, tags and all. Once you get past the language barrier just keep in mind that these are two very busy Vietnamese so be sure to have them measure BOTH sides (we are not symmetrical) as they will want to take a short cut by only measuring one side. Came back three (business) days later, and they were ready. Polite, professional staff. The space itself is unassuming and quaint. Not particularly inviting, but functional! They have a small dressing room (with a full-length mirror) for them to pin your clothes. She did pin one side only. I read the other reviews before and opted not to ask to measure both sides. If it were suit pants, I'd be a little more invested to ask to take the time to measure both sides. Definitely recommend for your tailoring needs! read more
