First off, I do not like to review poorly but this one has bothered me. We hired Chris to help us get our pool back in good condition; I admit it had been neglected for a while but he took on the project. He came out and looked at the project and agreed to replace the entire filter mechanism and repair the Polaris. This is where it becomes difficult. He did not show back up and would not answer calls nor respond to texts. Finally, after weeks, he answered and said he had been busy moving. We were patient and waited for him to get thru that. Fast forward, he comes out and sells us a "slightly used" filter because he had replaced it for a larger one for another customer. He sold us on its reliability and assured us he would maintain it serviced. He installed the new machine (tossed and left the old one aside), he worked on the Polaris and was paid what he charged. Again, he didn't come back. We called and texted to no avail because the Polaris is NOT fixed. Now, the filter he sold us has to have all of the panels replaced because they were not good to begin with. We hired someone new now and have spent the money AGAIN to do what he promised and did not deliver. I do not recommend this pool service at all. read more

Chris of Alamo Pool and Spa was hired to fix a major leak in my pool and it was done beautifully. He came quickly and gave me a very fair bid. The work was done on time and I basically have a new pool. He also did cool decking over the pebble decking which looks great and won't be hot in the summer. I couldn't be happier with the results. Alamo Pool and Spa is doing our pool for our second year, I only wish I started using them earlier. My pool has never looked better! It is so simple to care for now. I just run my pool cleaner a couple times a week and they do everything else. This has allowed us to be in our pool a lot more often and spend more time enjoying it than working on it. Right now we are entering March, one of the worst times for my pool historically, but right now it looks like I could go swimming in it, well except it is still way to cold for us. Alamo Pool did an unbelievable job renovating my pool! They were fast, responsive, skilled and knowledgeable. My pool had an old leaky rock waterfall and old plaster that produced a greenish water color. Alamo Pool removed my dated waterfall and replaced it with a sun shelf with bubblers. I had two appointments a few weeks apart due to Chris being out of town & was given verbal price ranges for the various projects we discussed doing to my pool and patio area as he walked around looking at everything for about an hour each visit. He took measurements and talked in depth about how he would do the projects. I then told him I would like an estimate in writing which he said was no problem. When I asked for expected timeframe for the estimate that Friday he said he should be able to have it for me Monday. I never heard from him again!!! Why in the world with someone waste their time and mine if they're not interested in the job? I contacted Alamo Pool & Spa via American Home Shield today, 03/15/16. I spoke with Chris, the owner. My problem- My pool pump was getting hot and the pump pressure was very low. Alamo Pool & Spa had been out a week prior for the same problem; my pool pump. I explained to Chris what the symptoms were. In response Chris said, "It's usually user error. It's not my fault if you don't keep enough water in your pool." WOW! Keep in mind that he was on the phone and that he had no idea how much water is in my pool. Secondly, I explained to him that I hire a service to maintain my pool and that they do an excellent job. His response, "Oh..." He went on to say, "Well, it's usually something not covered by American Home Shield." Again, sight unseen. Amazing that this guy is in business! To sum it up, Chris of Alamo Pool & Spa had the worst customer service I've seen in awhile! And worse than that his level of aggression escalated, was talking really loud and forceful, trying to talk over me, if you can believe it. To where I had to simply hang up on him. And to think, it all started with "Hey Chris, can you send someone out to look at my pool pump? We got a problem." Not a pretty picture... Do yourself a favor, call another pool company. I needed LED pool lights added. The guys came over and checked out my pool and existing lights. Recommend a brand and sent me a quote a couple hours later. They installed the lights a few days later. Pool looks great and no problems or hassle. Lights are expensive (same price as internet) but the labor was reasonable and the guys knew what they were doing. Thanks! read more

Chris and his guys are so good at what they do. They have maintained our pool weekly now for several years. Chris is very knowledgable about not only the chemistry, but about the pumps and mechanisms that keep the pool running. He has replaced several old pieces of equipment and repaired others. We were so impressed when he offered to dive down to the deep end and replace the old cap on the drain that had disintegrated and left it uncovered, instead of requiring us to go through the expense of draining and refilling our large pool! We watched him dive down several times and come up for air and dive again. We cannot say enough excellent things about the company. read more

My neighbor uses Alamo. We know this because the guy who comes to clean the pool talks on his phone the entire time. He likes to talk about his boat and what deals he's making and whatever it is he can sell for $500 at five dollars apiece that he would rather sell it for 400. My family and I were quite annoyed to have to listen to the entire conversation on his speakerphone, as we could hear the other person talking, when we are outside trying to have lunch and a children's party in our own backyard. I don't understand why employees have to talk so loud on the phone and why they have to put it onSpeaker, and why the young man goes on and on, he's been at it now, approximately an hour and a half he started in a little before 3 o'clock... Feel sorry for my neighbor in Thousand Oaks San Antonio. What an inconsiderate drag. she has a mini mini pool cleaners and has used lots over the past 20 years that we've lived here. Never have we had to experience this. We have moved our little party inside. We really don't want to hear about his time at the lake just what he starting to talk about now, And apparently he was out there earlier today which is why he's late showing up here today... read more
