This Alamo location is hands down the best place to rent a car. Good customer service. Short lines. Car always ready. Easy return. No hiding fees like others. I highly recommended. We had to deal with upstate New York weather causing us delays and airport/flight changes. We rented a car through Alamo, in Rochester, to be returned to Rochester. When our flight was delayed causing us to miss our connection, we had to pivot to flying out of Syracuse airport. We called Alamo on the phone and told them the situation, they said it would cost us $400 more. We were unhappy about this, and the customer service rep said to speak with someone when we return the car. Upon dropoff, we were met by Brendan and Bryce. They also saw the same number on their end, but rather than charge us that amount, they did something and we did not get charged an extra dollar. We were super stressed about our flights not making it out, and Brendan and Bryce eliminated a major problem we were facing. Thanks to both of you, I highly recommend renting a car from Alamo to enjoy beautiful upstate New York. read more

Some of the nicest service I have ever received!! Ok, so I arrived in Syracuse and came to pick up my car. They gave me a Chrysler Pacifica, which was a huge minivan. I asked for another car, something smaller, but that was all they had. The nice lady at the counter gave a number to call the next day if I wanted to change cars. I called the number the next day, told them I wanted something smaller. She said to just come to the Airport to switch cars. I asked do I need to fill it up or anything, she said no. So I went to the lot, parked the minivan, talked to the same lady that I talked on the phone, I gave her my keys, she gave the keys to a car. She asked is a Nissan Sentra ok, I said perfect. No paperwork, zero fuss, the whole interaction only took a few minutes!! I never would have thought it would be that easy!! Rented the care through Expedia and arrived in Syracuse to find that they left for the evening. So had to uber and book a hotel to uber back to the airport next day. More cost I did not plan. Then was charged 223.50 more than Expedia reservation I made. I disputed the charge on my credit card and they sent me collections after my credit card company said it was resolved. Now I apparently I am not able to rent cars from any affiliated company because they over charged me. Not impressed by their dishonest behavior. read more

If I could give this company and location a negative 5 stars, it still would not represent my frustration. I will also say that I have been an Alamo Insider for a number of years. I knew that my family would be flying into Syracuse on December 25 so I made a reservation for a AWD Tahoe in August. Not knowing how the weather would be and also being from Houston, I wanted a vehicle that was: 1) Large enough for my entire family (7) and also 2) Capable of ease of driving in wintry weather. Not once did I receive any notice of problems at the rental location. In fact, I reconfirmed my reservation on December 23, just to make sure we were OK. So we get to the airport counter and were told that they did not have the vehicle that we reserved. In fact, Alamo did not have anything large enough for us at all. It did not seem to bother them at all. In fact I had to keep insisting that we needed a vehicle large enough. After checking with the other affiliates (National and Enterprise), they finally found a van that with our luggage we had to squeeze uncomfortable into. This vehicle was: 1) Nasty - don't know when it had been cleaned, 2) Smelly (we had to purchase a freshener the same day as my wife was chocking on the cigarette smell), 3) Was over 20,000 miles past the maintenance date on the window sticker, and 4) Did not have a full tank of gas. I have tried and tried to get Alamo to contact me to discuss this situation (filled out their survey - gave them 1 star on all categories and left my contact information with a request to contact me in the survey.) I also went on-line and asked the chat person (not a bot) to have someone call. I have not even had any attempt for them to contact them. I feel like I had the proverbial bait and switch and I feel they should at least make an attempt to deal with this. I influence a lot of my co-workers in their travel for our company and I have passed this experience along and I know that we will never use Alamo again until this issue is resolved. read more

Horrible service! Arrived just before they closed and a bored looking clerk checked me in and told me my car with in E-28. Unfortunately, with airport construction in Syracuse, I had to enter the garage at the farthest point away from row E and walk to the opposite side of the garage to find my car. I got to row E and found that a) Alamo cars were not there and b) there is no slot E-28. After I dragged my luggage back across the garage to the desk inside (there is no way to call them), the bored clerk called someone from the back to help me find my car. The guy that helped me said, of course there is a slot 28 in Enterprise. Not E but Enterprise. Lo and behold, there is row N that holds Enterprise cars. To him - E for Enterprise! But remember - I rented from Alamo so why look here? Mumbled apology from the guy, no assistance with the luggage, best he could do was make sure the car started before he left. His theory of E for Enterprise would be fine it there wasn't another row E already in the garage! read more

I recently returned from a 9 day trip to NY visiting family for the holidays. Mary at the desk in the airport was so helpful and friendly and a breath of fresh air after a long day of traveling. She helped get me in a vehicle to suit my needs. Upon my return I dropped my car off and proceeded to check in, security etc. When we reached the front of the line my youngest thought she left her electronic device in the car so we had to go back downstairs and visit the desk. Not only were they helpful and reassuring but they really helped me not have a melt down (as it had already been a rough morning and I knew i had a long day ahead). I am very thankful for the service I received and would definitely choose Alamo the next time we are visiting. Thank you. read more

I recently rented from Alamo at the Syracuse Airport - did not have to wait long at the counter and received my car of choice with minimal upsell efforts from the agent. We have used Alamo Syracuse Airport location numerous times and have always had a wonderful experience. We always get the car we reserved and check out is usually quick. We always have to return the car early in the morning before the counter is open and it's super easy. You just park the car and drop the keys in a box on the counter. I will highly recommend this Alamo location and actually Alamo in general as we have tried many different rental companies but have come to the conclusion that Alamo is one of the few that actually care about their customers. read more

This was the easiest and most pleasant car rental ever and at an excellent price. We arrived at the airport at Midnight and found the agent still friendly and accommodating. She saw how much luggage we had and upgraded our vehicle at no charge to a new SUV. When we returned the car it was painless and took only 1-2 minutes. Our plane was late coming in, as close to midnight at you can get, and they were there waiting and very pleasant. Quick service, answered my many questions with a smile. My experience with Alamo of late is that there is a high pressure "bait & switch" on pricing when you pick up the car. I am an Insider member which means my profile contains all of my preferences with regard to car insurance and other extras. Yet I have to make all of these selections again when making an online booking. Then at the couter, the agents offer all these extras again and require me to decline everything a third time. I don't have to go through this with Hertz or Avis. read more

We arrived about 10:30 pm and someone was at the counter and took care of our family promptly. The KIA Minivan only had 900 miles on it and was clean and worked very well for our 1000 mile college tour. None of us had ever even been in a KIA and the ride and the cup holders were nice.
