Mandy always does a great job but I recently went and the other lady who is there not Hilda nor Mandy but the other lady who is there is HORRIBLE she messed up my eyebrows was very rough and tried saying I have a bad shape head when it's never an issue before. I've been going for over two years with Mandy and never had issues until this Wednesday I went. She was rude she had the sniffles and I saw her using the same gloves for customers over and over super disgusting. Today i went in to get my eyebrows done , i have been going here for over a year and ive never had a problem ever . The lady that was threading today i have never seen her before . She was VERY RUDE! She was looking at me like she didnt even want to do my eyebrows she was moving my head very aggressive and talking to me very rude . She took over 20 minutes doing my two eyebrows and left them super thin she does not know what she is doing! She hurt my eyebrow and made me bleed and i asked her if she can do my lip and she looked at me like she was discussed and told me NO , ans the lady before me also ask for her lip and she did it . I'm going to use the sandwich technique to describe the services here. My aunt and I came in to get our nails done. I got a shellac mani, she got a standard mani, and we both got pedicures. On a positive note, the staff is very friendly. Alright, moving on. Unfortunately, we are both very disappointed with the services we received. To be fair, I did not expect a lot of bells and whistles as this is primarily a hair salon, and we were drawn in by the 4 stars and single dollar sign, but I did expect the basics to be done well. First off, there were only two people in the shop which meant they were very rushed, and it seemed that once they did start on us (my aunt had her feet sitting in the tub unattended to for over an hour), they just wanted to throw polish on and get us done as soon as possible. The technician filed my nails after verifying that I wanted them to be squared. However, they were very round and very crooked. Then, she didn't bother to clean them up before applying polish. The edges were very rough and small pieces of nail that were still attached were simply painted over, resulting in a very sloppy-looking paint job. My aunt's manicure looks like it was done by a child having a seizure. The polish is uneven and all over her finger tips and cuticles. Completely cringeworthy. When she complained, the technician simply said, "well that's a hard polish to use." ... What? Are you serious? Attempting to finish on a positive note, they did attempt to fix the things we weren't thrilled with. I emphasize the word attempt. I want to say that they tried really really hard. I really think they did. But the reality is, they just aren't that good at nails. But, I like their massage chair and all the wait time let me catch up on a book I've been meaning to read. The threading of eyebrows and the cost of it go hand in hand if you know what I mean. You get what you pay for. However when a specific person does it they do a pretty good job. However when I get my eyebrows tinted I make sure I don't see anyone for 2-3 days because they like to tint the skin and not my actual eyebrows. I don't complain, mainly because after the 2-3 day pass they look great. I tried the eyelash extensions once...and it was horrible. I immediately went home and took them off. This review is on threading and lash services only. I needed to clean up a little after moving to san antonio. I just came here because it was 10min from my house and had great yelp reviews. Came in at 11am (opening) on a Thursday. I came in for threading (brow, upper lip and chin) and lashes. Waited about 15 min while a customer in front of me got their eyebrows threaded. No biggie . It was nice and clean and everyone was friendly as I came in and waited. I was quoted $50 for it all by a gentleman in the front. I thought that was amazing. I was used to paying at least $100 for all of that in other salons. In the end my total came out to $44! I was very pleased. When the customer ahead of me finished up, i headed to the chair. The threading lady (I think the owner) asked could i wait while she took care of a woman who came AFTER me because all she need was her brows done. I had time so I'm like "sure, no big deal." I was off of work so I had time. It was another 5 min wait and she got me right in her chair. She quickly (Not rushed) threaded my face. A great job if you ask me !! she was very gentle around my lip area, which always hurts for me lol. Last she did my lashes. I didn't know what I wanted so I let her choose. They turned out great! She was very gentle and understanding because I kept stopping . Lol I have no natutal lashes so it always is a battle putting them on me. She made it work! She was so nice. Her hospitality alone would bring me back. My overall experience was quick and I felt welcomed . The quality of service was amazing as well . Glad I came. Would recommend to anyone ! First time visiting. Its in a convenient location for me (right down the road from my house). Better than driving to La Cantera. My threading lady from Just Stryngz no longer works there so I had to find someone new. It wasn't busy when I walked in. I told the lady what I wanted and she delivered. Took her less than 10 minutes and the cost was great! $8 for threading when I used to pay $12. Can't beat that! Will most definitely be returning for future threading services. NON STERILIZED instruments! The lady got an open package for my shellac manicure, it was clearly never autoclaved since the tape was still on, I pointed it out and she tried to tell me it was sterile. I work in a dental office, I know very well how to tell when they're not. She got another package which was recently sealed and only had been put in cold sterile, but fine I let her do the job. Not the best shellac at all, bad on corners and little selection. As I went up to pay she tried to charge me $25 even though their website says $18, I pointed it out and they tried to tell me that shellac was the same thing as dip, when I said it wasn't she tried to tell me that $18 is for the painting only..again, says diff on website and it's not what I asked for to begin with, at the end she said that it was an old website as I googled it and showed it to her. I dont know how this place got 5 stars. First off, it was our first time going. I took my son and my daughter in for a hair cut and a trim. The sign outside advertises that is $8 per child and $12 for girls. So assuming that this was a great price to pay since my son is 11. $20 and of course a tip. We went in and it was very warm and there were only 2 older ladies working. One doing hair and one doing pedicures. There were 2 men sleeping in the back and the lady doing hair was taking fkrever with the gengleman before us. My daughter had changed her mind and said she didnt feel comfortable with being there. After the man was done getting his hair cut, the lady who was just working on someones feet asked the man if he wanted a rinse ans he said ok and she washed his hair and then asked him if he wanted a massage and they laughed and he said yes. So im thinkin how nice and my son was going to be pampered which is what i wanted for him because he was having a bad day n i was happy that this place was walking distance from where we lived. We always go to Fantastic Sams and dor $10 he gets a great hair cut and they shampoo and rinse his hair. So my son gets in the chair and i walk over to the lady and showed her the photo in their book of how i want his hair to look which has been his style forever. She said she knew exactly what i wanted. Very easy haircut, we have never had anyone mess it up. So right away shes using the clippers and my son complains 3 times saying "ouch, be careful and your going too hard." All of a sudden she doesnt understand english and said "what does this mean its too hard i dont understand." so my son says "your being too rough, you almost cut my ear off" so i get up to go look and she has already messed his hair up so i ask her to stop so i can take him somewhere else and she starts speaking perfect english saying "im going to fix it, his head is shaped different, i never worked on hair like his" wtf???? My son has a lerfect head and great hair. We have never had this problem and no one has ever made my son say ouch. So i told her that ahe didnt know what she was doing then she said that she did and that she just wanted to make sure i was fine with it. So i looked at her and asked her what she was going to do and she explained that she will do what i ask so i said all you have to fo is make it even on the sides and trim the top with scissors to be able to comb over and edge up by the ears and neck. Its not hard. So she said ok and then i went to sit back down and then my son is saying ouch again and be careful. Then she finished. I was so upset that i just wanted to get out of there. They didnt offer him a rinse. He had hair all over and he was pulling hair from his mouth, his hair was butchered and the other lady who was doing pedicures says $12 and i said you mean $8 and she said, how old is he and i said he is 11 and she said its for kids that are 8 and i said i didnt see that in both of your signs and she demanded $12 so i ask well does my son get a rinse and massage with that like you did for the man and she sid no it is an extra $3 and i said you didnt charge that man and she gave me a blank look like she didnt understand me and i just paid her. No tip or anything. My husband seen his hair and said what happened to his hair and what took so long and i told him what happened and how much it cost and he went back in and came out with $5 and said that we are never going there again. I agree. They are sloppy and have no clue to what they are doing. They are not stylists. Dont waste your time or money and they need to change their clippers and go back to school if they ever did. read more

I have had threading done before at different salons, but I have never had such consistent performance. I have taken two of my daughters to have a haircut and couldn't be happier. One has curly thick hair and a lot of it and they very seldom do a great job in the pricier salons we used to go to. Hilda, on the other hand, did and outstanding job and now even when she flat irons it, she gets compliments for her hair. My other daughter, has extremely straight and thin hair, Hilda was able to give her the layers she wanted and volume where she lacked. Today we stopped to get our eyebrows threaded, I thought mine weren't as bad before, as I was taking care of them, but after she fixed them I realized that for now on I have to go back to them for that too. My daughter was happy as well with how hers turned out. I love that they are really close to my house, they are fairly priced and I don't usually have to get an appointment to get a great haircut, just call and see if it's a good time to show up. read more

Why not 5 stars...because I think the end result could have been better...coming out the chair its hard to see all the things you'd change, but after your eyes adjust, you see it.
