I was referred to Root Vision Endo in Lakewood. It took some time for them to accept my insurance, but once they did, I scheduled an appointment. The office was clean, and although I was extremely nervous, I trusted that I was in the hands of professionals. The doctor examined and tested three of my teeth. Based on that evaluation, I was told that I needed three root canals. I trusted the diagnosis and agreed to move forward, paying $1,099 out of pocket because I was desperate to restore my smile. Afterward, I returned to my regular dentist and was devastated to learn that two of the teeth that received root canals could not be saved and would need to be removed. I cannot explain how upsetting that was. I had just endured three root canals, the pain and recovery that came with them, and a significant out-of-pocket expense--only to be told that two of those teeth still needed to be extracted. That $1,099 could have gone toward the bridge and restorative treatment I now need. Instead, my treatment has been prolonged, I endured additional procedures, and I am now facing even more dental expenses. I understand that dental outcomes are not always guaranteed and that different providers can have different professional opinions. However, based on my experience, I deeply regret not getting a second opinion before proceeding with three root canals. If you are dealing with a dental emergency or trauma and feeling desperate like I was, please advocate for yourself and consider getting a second opinion before agreeing to major treatment. I stopped by to get x-rays and have my teeth exam and I was getting ready to hear a lot of bad news. Knowing that I had not visited the dentist in about 8 to 10 years I knew that there would be work that would be needed to be completed.. The dentist was very helpful with letting me know the severity of it, but at the same time showed optimism and made me feel comfortable. Not only are we looking into the repairment of my tooth but also he explained to me the things that would be needed to be done in order to restore my teeth. I had plaque built up and my gums were very swollen with numbers high as fives and six which is not great and he explained to me that it would take a few appointments of deep cleaning and laser treatment in order to restore them. The appointments that I've had with them have been painless, and they have always made me feel comfortable while visiting them. This really helped me overcome my fear of visiting in the dentist and I actually do look forward to seeing them for my next appointment.
