But in this case, I feel it's important to share. I came to this office years ago after moving to Cerritos, right before my wedding, simply looking for a new dentist and a routine cleaning. They had great reviews, which is why I trusted them. From the start, I was told I had extensive issues--multiple cavities needed to be redone and several crowns were recommended. This was surprising to me, as I've consistently gone to the dentist and had never been told I needed such drastic work. Still, I trusted their assessment. The procedures that followed were some of the most painful dental experiences I've ever had. They took hours, felt extremely aggressive, and left me in severe pain afterward--far beyond what I've ever experienced with dental work. I have a high pain tolerance, and this felt very wrong. What was most frustrating was what happened next. I returned multiple times explaining that I couldn't sleep, eat, or function due to the pain. Each time, my concerns were dismissed and attributed to things like not flossing (umm I couldn't floss because of the extreme pain), which didn't make sense given the level of pain I was in. After pushing back repeatedly--especially with my wedding just days away--I insisted something was seriously wrong and requested further evaluation. It turned out I needed three root canals as a result of their prior work. Separately, the crowns that were placed caused ongoing issues. Eating anything with texture would cause gum pain, and I noticed unusual gaps that trapped food. When I brought this up, I was told the only solution was to redo the crowns at additional cost. My crowns also came off. Later, I happened to see a different dentist at the same office (a female provider who may have been temporary), and she immediately noted that the crowns had been placed at an awkward angle. She corrected them, and since then, I've had no pain and no further issues such as crowns falling off. I ultimately switched dentists and have not needed any major dental work since--just routine cleanings every six months, with no recurring problems. Based on what I went through--particularly the aggressive treatment, the outcome, and the dismissal of my concerns--I feel it's important for others to have full context before making a decision.

A chipped tooth might not seem like a big deal to some people, but I was really worried -- and they completely understood that. Dr. Sophia made me feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire visit. She fixed my smile beautifully, it looks so natural and perfect. I've already scheduled another appointment for a cleaning because I'm truly loving my experience here. Everyone is friendly, professional, and welcoming. Thank you for taking such great care of me!

My dentist at Innovative Smiles in Long Beach, CA advised me to get my wisdom teeth extracted and sent me to the partner office in Cerritos, CA. I made an appointment 6-weeks in advance of my procedure and cleared my financial responsibility to the office before treatment day. 1st Visit - November 24, 2025 4 pm Appointment Time: I arrived 15-minutes before my appointment time with my designated driver. The procedure was cancelled after I had already arrived because the office had not provided the required pre-operative instructions in advance of the appointment. The office said there was a mix up with my phone number, which is not possible since they were able to get in touch with me for payments and to confirm my appointment. 2nd Visit- December 16, 2025 4 pm Appointment Time: I followed my pre-operative instructions (12-hour fast), arrived 15-minutes before my appointment time, and was asked to wait 60+ minutes because the doctor was not ready for me at my appointment time. When the doctor took me to the treatment room he told me I would need an additional treatment that would cost $250 on top of the $2k+ I had already paid. He made remarks that the electrocardiogram was not working properly, and to disregard the noise from the equipment. He then proceeded to insert an IV in my arm 13+ times. I know it was at least 13 times because he counted the marks running up and down my arms right in front of me! He failed to correctly insert the IV after more than an hour and sent me home. 3rd Visit - December 22, 2025 8 am Appointment Time: I arrived fasted, 15-minutes before my 8 am appointment, and was not let into the office building until 8:20 am. Once in the office, the doctor set up the ECG machine and again attempted to insert the IV. The doctor stuck a needle in my black and blue arms, bruised from the previous visit, 13 additional times. The doctor failed to insert the needle into a vein in either of my arms, hands, or my ankle. The office secretary said management would be in touch and issue me a full refund. Management did not reach out to me upon my third wasted visit and they did not issue me a full refund that day. After numerous attempts to get in touch with management from my end, they offered to pay me back for services not rendered through a payment plan! After continuous follow ups, I received my outstanding funds on January 16, 2026. For a routine wisdom tooth extraction with sedation, a procedure any competent oral surgeon should easily be able to perform, I experienced: * Three appointments with no procedure performed * Multiple 90-minute round-trip commutes * Numerous working hours lost for both myself and a designated driver (as required per sedation protocol) * Repeated 12-hour fasting and preparation for procedures that never happened * Physical bruising on my arms, hands, and ankle After months of appointments, preparation, and follow-up calls, I was left with no treatment, unnecessary physical pain, emotional distress, and a significant loss of time and energy. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend seeking dental care anywhere but here.

She did it on purpose because she enjoys making things difficult for people. As a result of her not sending the email & playing games sending me blank refferal form I was forced to leave my appointment. From the time I asked her to please send over the referral to the time. She finally sent the correct one almost 2 &1/2 hours had passed. I always picture white-knuckling it...whether anticipatory or actual, again, both for me. It's no secret, most people find the dentist visits to be nerve wracking. Today I needed a revision on two crowns placed years ago by the previous dentist that occupied this space, Dr. James Surdilla-miss him dearly, he's moved away. I dreaded it. Maria, their trusted receptionist extraordinaire, ready with her wit & banter, "Okay , Jennifer, just take a seat while they prepare the torture chamber". I appreciate a great sense of humor & it comforted me that they're very friendly & efficient, too. Janet prepared with dental X-rays and was informative & forthcoming. Enter Dr. Susie Kim, with an easy smile & reassuring words. She explained my procedure well. Anticipatory anxiety started to roll in but was alleviated after the needle I barely felt was done doing its job-to numb the area. After all that's said & done, was quoted an hour & a half-almost precise, I'm impressed! I'm not saying that I will stop gripping the dentist chair like a boa constrictor & its prey...but perhaps I will let go a tiny bit to give it a break. I shall return for the permanent crown in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, no eating or chewing anything sticky or hard, gargle with warm saltwater for 24 hours. After paying for my co-pay, Janet gave me the breakdown w/o me asking for it, I appreciated that. Note: If the drill gets to loud, request for earplugs, Dr. Kim offered them-nice lady! It's surprising I would give 5 stars for a dental practice but they do deserve it.
