This woman attacks most business that aren't owned by "pasty" (her word in every negative review she writes) people, like herself. When you walk into Al 'an Rubens you are immediately "family", no matter your skin tone, your language, or your gender! You are RESPECTED for you from the start. As for the food, you don't want to miss it! There is nothing on the menu short of spectacular. Please don't listen to Crystal! Hateful is hateful, and this fabulous establishment is being dragged down by a lying, "pasty", hater! As a pasty person myself, who provides reviews regularly on Google, both good and bad, I will call out the Crystal's of this world every time I know without a doubt they are lying. I wanted to love this place so badly. The wait took very long, which is fine with me, I'm willing to wait for great food & service.. Finally once we got seated, both parties asked for ice water with lemon. They brought ice water, with no lemon, fine, I didn't say anything. We ordered, everyone else around us got bread with their salad. When I finally asked for it twice after my pasta came, I finally got it. They told me they don't give bread until people ask, "just in case they don't want it and so it doesn't go to waste". (Not sure if this is true or they're just saying that to make up for everyone else in the dining room getting bread without asking) The food is extremely good but they need to work harder at managing under the pressure of being busy. Food came really fast once we got seated. By the end of the meal we were completely out of water. The place has extraordinary potential once they completely work out the kinks. We hadn't been to this restaurant since the pandemic and decided to stop in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Since we were here last, I believe they've done some upgrades to the restaurant. It appears that they've redone the floors which is nice. It's a family owned restaurant and they make sure that the service you receive is both attentive and friendly. But, the biggest attraction is the food. Every meal here is outstanding. Today we ordered (pictures attached) a Sausage Flatbread, the Chicken Salad (it included fries that came on the side) and a 1/2 order of Chicken Piccata w/a side of pasta. Everything was melt in your mouth and utterly delicious. Probably one of the best salads I've ever had. This place is a little out of the way, but is definitely worth a visit. One of the best- if not THEE BEST- restaurant in Washington, PA. Such a fun and unique menu with some of the most flavorful food ever. If you like bleu cheese even the slightest bit, you have to try their salad with house-made gorgonzola dressing- it is TO DIE FOR! All the food I have ever had here is impeccable. The mozzarella appetizer is so rich and decadent- it's basically a fried grilled cheese covered in a cream sauce. The chicken collini is one of the best dishes I've ever had- chicken cutlets in a cream sauce with crab meat, artichokes, and diced tomatoes to garnish. They used to have a veal collini but it was taken off the menu, probably due to supply chain issues; I always look to see if it's a special though! I DREAM about the lobster mac n cheese here, again some of the best I've ever had. They offer unique specials and incredible desserts. Staff and owners are very friendly. It has been a few years since my last visit. Stopped in and ordered a Mozzarella in Carozza as a friend sad IYKYK, almost heaven.... A thick mozzarella fried cheese sandwich, topped with Parmesan cheese sauce. Creamy and cheesy delight. Very good if u are in the mood for a cheesy sandwich. The staff is great! Definitely a gem in Washington! We stopped here for my moms birthday, and we were so pleasantly surprised. You can tell this food is homemade and made with love. The way they explain everything to the customers as far as the servers being so busy to the specials is so refreshing. The wait area is a bit tight but pull up a seat at the bar and have a drink. The cheese appetizer was different as they bake cheese between bread with a cream sauce but it was so O.M.G. The salads were small but after the cheese who cares. The chicken parm was to die for as was my wifes dinner but I forget the name. I've enclosed the pictures though.
