My family and I truly enjoyed our meal at Hugo's. I was impressed by the service, the quality of the food, and the portion sizes. There was literally zero complaints and all happy smiles and bellies after our visit. For appetizers, we tried the pretzels and the fried zucchini. The pretzels were GREAT, but the zucchini was AWESOME. Definitely going to be a repeat order every time we go! For dinner, we tried the breaded pork chop special (with two great sides and a salad), the home made ravioli special (which came with a half loaf of really good home made garlic bread!), the cranberry pecan chicken salad (was truly impressed with the size!), the stuffed pepper special (HUGE!), and the kids got a varying order off the kids menu. Yesterday was my SO and my first time here. We've always passed it driving and always wondered about it since it always has a lot of cars. Well, we are glad we stopped! The waitress was super nice, quick and accommodating. It was nice and quiet in there, had a bit of Xmas music going but not too loud to be annoying. Now, the food. Got an appetizer of deep fried mushrooms. We Definitely didn't realize how huge they'd be! It was like video game size! The outer layer was super buttery and crunchy. The mushroom itself was a bit plain but I really liked that it wasn't mushy, had a bite to it. So the outer layer with the sauce they give you? Yum!! Then they gave us an index card of specials, which I thought was super cute! We went with the all you can eat 8.99 spaghetti. We knew full well we'd never make it to the 2nd bowl but it was cheaper than the regular non special. By like $2 but still. I ordered two garlic breads. I didn't think they'd be mini loaves! This place does not skimp on the portions! The meatball was packed with flavor and nice and easy to cut with a fork. The spaghetti itself was good, me personally I don't like soft noodles but my SO did. Felt a little over cooked for me but that's just my preference. Overall, it was a hit. I had lunch here yesterday with eight other people for a small Holiday celebration. We made reservations on Thursday, but the servers working were not expecting us when we came in. No problem, they quickly moved tables together for us! Our waitress was quick and great, everyone was very happy with their meals. Portions are HUGE and food is super reasonably priced! A great little family stop. I had the chicken and cheese tortellini, I really liked the chicken and noodles but wasn't the biggest fan of the alfredo, it wasn't a traditional alfredo and was almost similar to a creamed chicken sauce. The gnocchi and marinara was a big hit in our group and I would definitely try that. We had the all platters, and the fried mushrooms were EXCELLENT and you could tell were homemade- I was expecting those little frozen ones you get at pizza places but I was pleasantly surprised. The manager/owner also came over to check on us several times and was very nice! She even read our story for our white elephant gift exchange! This is a great place to stop for a meal! read more

This is like 2.5 stars but I am rounding up, we called in takeout so I can only comment on the food. The perogis were great, drowned in butter with onions. The mashed potato's and gravy as well as the spaghetti were good, my mom loved the spaghettis sauce. The portions are big! Now for the problem. The meat was dry and terrible. I had the grilled chicken breast and it had no seasoning and was extremely dry. My mom had the veil Parmesan and it was tougher than jerky, barely edible. My family and I went to Hugo's at 9pm on a Friday night after my Cal U graduation. They close at 10, so they were not thrilled to see us walk in, but whatever. Not sure how long this place has been here, but I'm guessing forever lol there was no decor on the walls and everything was super plain. Kinda reminded me of a church social hall or something. We ordered the cheese sticks as an appetizer. They came out right away and were very good, but could easily tell they were not homemade. My husband ordered the stuffed chicken parm that was on special, but he said it wasn't stuffed with anything lol portion was huge though! My mom ordered the seafood marinara that was also huge! My sister and I both ordered the queen prime rib done medium rare. It was only $16 and came with 2 sides AND a salad! The prime rib was not only huge but absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly! My husband liked my prime rib way more than his chicken parm. We got a piece of chocolate brownie cheesecake that was also fantastic. They have a dessert display case in the restaurant. My mom asked the waitress if she could have the last 2 brownies wrapped up to go. About 15 mins later the waitress comes over and says "the table over there wants one of those brownies, so is it ok if I give them one?" My mom didn't really seem to mind, but I thought that was extremely rude of the waitress. But whatever! Pros: the portions were huge. My family ordered 2 prime ribs, seafood pasta, stuffed chicken, 4 desserts, and drinks and our the bill was only $85! I should also add that we were out of there before 10. Food was great however we were told they didn't have a lot of stuff that you think they would. Example we got our drinks and asked for straws. The waitress said they had no more we looked around and everyone had 1 except us. Then another table came in and she found straws when there was none. I tried to order cheese ravolis and she said there was none left. One of the people that was with me asked for ice and never got any. read more

Since the shutdowns my husband and I decided to make an effort to do our best and only support local small businesses. Hugo's is AMAZING! They have friendly service, great daily specials, excellent made from scratch desserts, yummy Italian food and unique pizza like no place else. 3.5ish at times Basically an Italian hybrid that reflects the past ethnicity of the area. Polish,German and rib sticking bar comfort food. I had fried mushrooms that were as big as an apple. Unique pizza and toppings (longhorn cheese instead of standard mozzarella) along with standard Italian fare like manicotti,lasagna and stuffed shells. This is not a place where the anorexic hang out. Went here on Saturday, March 30th in the evening with my parents around 8 pm and had a decent dining experience. They've recently upgraded their furniture and painted so restaurant looks a more modern than it had in the past, but it still has that dated atmosphere and appearance to it. My mother and I both ordered the fantail shrimp and baked potatoes with green beans and salad. Food was very good, especially the shrimp. My father ordered a New York strip steak and a baked potato and corn, which he loved. Their steaks are a great deal. My dads steak was huge and it was only $16.95! If you were to order it at a steakhouse, they'd definitely charge a lot more for a steak that size. Definitely a real value. The total bill was only $47.95 for three people and we ordered alcohol which is fairly affordable compared to other restaurants I've been to. Will definitely be back. Our waitress was friendly and attentive as well. The only thing I found weird about the whole experience is how many foods they had listed in the menu, but they had black highlighted out. Also throughout my dining experience, I heard the wait staff would talk back and forth and being out of different items on the menu, which was a little awkward. If your ouDefinitely will be back in the future. It's nice to have a restaurant in the area that isn't fast food or a pizza shop. read more

I have been going here since I was a child (nearly 50 years), and it, along with Paci's, was THE restaurant to go to for any occasion. It is still a good "homey" place with good food and great service. I have always liked the pizza, who doesn't? The pork chops have always been a favorite, and the Italian specialties are always tasty. I recommend Hugo's to anyone passing through the area and to any locals who have not visited in a while. After living around the world, it is nice to come back home and still find a good wholesome old-fashioned meal. read more

It was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. $16.95 gets you a 16 oz t-bone (or porterhouse) salad, and two sides, and, get this, a complimentary beer or glass of wine. Two of us tried the chicken and dumpling soup with our entrees-it wasn't overly salty, had lots of chicken, and had good flavor. The portion of gnocchi is huge (the picture doesn't do it justice) and the meatball was juicy and flavorful. The spaghetti with homemade pasta was delicious, and again a heaping portion. If I had any complaint, it would be that the pasta dishes could have used a little bit more sauce. For $16.99 the porterhouse steak came with two sides and a salad. This place tried to have a special on steaks on Saturday night 2 for 30 or 16.95 for 1 it said porterhouse or Tbone. My wife ordered the Tbone medium rare. Our friend who's father and brother raise cattle, ordered a porterhouse medium rare and myself ordered I ordered a porterhouse medium. We got steaks delivered to our table that were all 3 about 1/4 of an inch thick Tbones. We told the waiter these were the wrong steaks he got the owner. Who told us we were wrong these were all Porterhouse steaks and my wife told him hers was burnt and was well done. The owner told the waiter to take my wife's steak and box it up he will take it home to his dog and to have the kitchen cook her another steak and ask her what she thought was med rare she said so.e blood coming out of it. The owner told her no you should have ordered a rare steak that is what she needed. she ordered the steak wrong that was what was wrong and stood over our table telling that we were tough didn't leave until the new steak arrived my wife cut it and showed him that the steaks were all cooked wrong because they were all ranged from well done to rare. The owner still insisted we were all wrong and he would not take anything off of the check and he did not care to loss our business. So, don't go to this place very nasty. read more

Recently we had brunch there for Father's Day, the entire buffet was cold. It was all left over food from dinner the night before too. The gentleman working the omelets made harassing comments to me that were very offensive. He then tried to cause an argument with my husband in the dining room over the comments he made! This certainly isn't a place I would EVER eat at again, nor even recommend it to my worst enemy. Horrendous. Used their banquet room after a family funeral - it took them 20 minutes to find a tablecloth and plates for the tables they failed to prepare in advance. They served us wilted salad that was drastically over-dressed and had been sitting in the dressing for several hours, overcooked cold pasta with the cheapest sauce imaginable, and microwave prepackaged fried chicken. These were brought to us by the single surly waitress assigned to care for our party of 50 guests. Truly heinous. read more

While the decor was dated the service was prompt and welcoming. I ordered the ribeye off of the "Specials" menu, which was a handwritten on an index card. It was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time, and the sides were perfectly proportioned. The crust on the apple pie was a bit dry, but the filling was quite good, not too sweet and with a perfect consistency. The bill came as a pleasant surprise, with a prime cut of meat and desert for under twenty dollars. I would be happy to eat here again. read more

I have been in this restaurant eating for many years, and it was always awesome, but today 3/5/17 it was the worst food I have every ate in my life. I always order the spaghetti (homemade noodles, meatballs) was always the very best, well until today, it was the most nasty thing ever, the noodles were not even pink with sauce, the water laid in the bottom of the plate, We got 45 slices of dried out break and frozen butter, the salad was frozen with ice crystals and in big chunks, who wants to set and cut up there lettuce to eat it? "not me" I would prefer it be cut in small pieces. And to say the lest they raised there prices on most things 3.00 per order....NOT going back there again. My very Italian mother-in-law passed away at 85yo, and we needed someone to get an Italian meal together for thirty mostly Italian individuals, for after the funeral. My husband who has never planned a function in his life, stopped at Hugos and met with the Buffet Manager and the owner. He discussed what we wanted and they listened. They listened really well obviously, because after the funeral, we converged upon the restaurant and they were ready for us in a big way. They had us set up in a private room where we had plenty of privacy. They served us chicken parmesan, salad, rolls and butter, iced tea, ice water, the best pies ever, all family style. The food was delicious and the service was great. We needed them to function on our behalf without much direction, and they ran with it. It was perfect. read more

We just got home from a banquet and we was completely dissatisfied. My wife asked the owner about seating as there was no room for our party of 4 and the owner told my wife that we should have arrived earlier (we was 15 minutes early) if we wanted our seats to be together. He went on to say that when he goes to the movies he arrives early to get his seats and he would not expect them to accommodate him. As for the food, it arrived 30 minutes late, the chicken was cold and tasteless, the ham had an off taste, the green beans and potatoes were actually both good. One of the servers was rude to my wife when she asked for more bread for our table stating in a rude manner that we would get more bread after all the food was served.
