This place has good middle eastern food fast. The service was friendly in a casual atmosphere. I shared a chicken kabob platter with 2 packed kabobs, on basmati rice with hummus and a small salad. I'll look forward to trying more items next visit! read more

We were looking for Mediterranean food and our usual place was closed so we decided to try Alanis. The interior is very clean and bright, with good seating both indoors and outside. The staff was friendly and patient. Service was quick even as they started getting busier. We were both very hungry when we ate so the food so it was incredible at the time. Upon reflection, it was quite average but still good quality. We got a Chicken Shawarma Pita and Gyro Wrap with fries. The sauce that comes with the fries is incredible! Do not skip this sauce! They also have pita or Syrian bread for wraps- we both got pita but definitely would try the Syrian bread next time. The sandwiches themselves were quite average but good. I was in the area craving Mediterranean food and decided to give this place a try. I had a delicious, hardy, chicken kabob platter. The plate was colorful, nutritious, and very filling. Hubby loves the Chicken Shawarma Panini that uniquely contains muhammara (walnut and pepper paste). I always get Alani's Platter, which comes with chicken shawarma on a bed of rice pilaf, hummus and baba ghannoush (super delicious, fire roasted mashed eggplants), and 2 grape wraps. My friend & I, more like a little sister both share a love for mediterranean food. So after we were done shopping and needed lunch, we stumbled upon Alanis. The restaurant was nice, bright & clean with ample seating. We decided to sit inside. She loves her chicken shawarma salad wherever we go, but here she decided on a Taza platter because of the tabouli salad and I got the Mediterranean platter. Both platters had way too much food for the both of us but we loved it knowing we would have leftovers for later. The ladies behind the counter was patient & knowledgeable. They answered all our questions & very friendly. They always have a smile on their faces. I'd like to give a shout out to a local business where I had an absolutely delicious meal. I was looking for something new & different in the Cranston area close to Garden City that wasn't the same old monotonous fare that I'm used to. I stopped in for lunch on Thursday in June as I had an appointment on Reservoir Ave & again for dinner on the Sunday immediately following after I picked up a cake at Antonio's Bakery. I'd like to start out by saying, I'm half Italian on my Dad's side (Neapolitan, from the Avelino region, & Sicilian, specifically from Messina) & a quarter Armenian on my Mom's side (ancient Armenia which is modern day Turkey)...so therefore I'm extremely fussy about my Italian, Armenian, Mediterranean, & Middle Eastern cuisine; my Grandma (Neapolitan) & Grandma (Armenian) were outstanding chef's in their respective kitchens, & I was outrageously spoiled as a child & very rarely ate out, I had the best of the best~those skills were certainly not passed down nor inherited by me-scrambled eggs in the microwave anyone. With that being said... The owner (who is from Syria, so you know you're getting an authentic product) & his team provided great customer service, very attentive & patient, knowledgeable about the food they're serving & able to explain the flavor profile of each item. The restaurant is pretty well taken care of & clean. They encouraged me to try the shawarma, I'm glad I listened, I wasn't disappointed...now I'm obsessed. I ordered the grape leaves, hummus, & chicken gyro. The grape leaves and the tzatziki were okay, I was expecting a tangy, lemony flavor with the grape leaves along with a more traditional look as well as flavor to the tzatziki, however the hummus & chicken gyro were very good. The hummus was creamy & the gyro was light, airy, & mild...it felt like I was eating healthy. The owner provided a free sample of their falafel...which I had at another establishment years ago & didn't like...when I returned on Sunday I ordered that along with the chicken gyro, & the owner gave me a free paklava dessert-to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it as I've found others hit or miss & off putting. Needless to say, I had an amazing experience & I'll definitely be a repeat customer for sure when I'm in town. read more

We are out-of-towners who came for a late dinner after spending all day on Block Island. Our son found this place here on yelp. We ordered 3 platters: chicken kabob , lamb kabob and kafta kabob. Each came with salad, basmati rice, hummus and Syrian bread. We also ordered a side of falafel. Everything tasted delicious. Well-spiced, great char on the meat - which was tender, and the falafel was crunchy and not greasy. Our meal was perfectly executed and flavored with nostalgia and tears and longing and soul. I gave Alinis 5 stars based on the combination of outstanding food and service. I could taste the freshness of what I will guess was the homemade hummus... so creamy... so rich in flavor. The kafta and lamb platters were outstanding... The staff was friendly and brought our order to our table. So good I had to come back again! A friend recommended this place before a show and I am a fan for life! While the place has the feel of fast food, the quality and flavors are five star! Every morsel tastes fresh and freshly prepared. I had the Mediterranean platter this time around and each bite I took was my favorite. Absolutely the best Mediterranean/Syrian food I've had. Falafel is usually dry - not here. Fresh, aromatic, and moist. The grape leaves are the most flavorful I've ever had, and this is comparing with hundreds of others. I can't even do them justice with words. If there is one thing you try here - make it the grape leaves. The aroma of the salad is so pleasant. And the humus is absolutely perfection. The falafel bowl is a great way to try a few different flavors individually, but the falafel wrap with a syrian pita is next level! Really excited to try Alani's as we need to keep up the diversity of food in the area!! I tried the beef shawarma and a gyro. The shawarma was really the star, had good flavor and yummy all around. The gyro was kind of meh, not amazing but absolutely not bad either. The person making my food this night was a little crazy with the onions, but understand preferences vary there. The tzatziki sauce on the gyro was amazing! Everything I ordered was extremely fresh. Place was super clean too. Ordering online was a breeze and food was hot and ready when I arrived. Fast and easy! The place is cafeteria/cafe style, so don't expect a fine dining experience. Best for takeaway or a quick bite to stop in to eat if you're on the go. My family of 5 enjoyed a great dining experience today when we had lunch at Alanis. The space is airy and sparkling clean, the food was fresh and delicious and the owner was friendly and welcoming. The complimentary Syrian tea was deligjtful!. We shared a variety of dishes, including vegetarian and non vegetarian specialties. We loved the falafel, grape leaves, chicken skewers, abundant fresh tallulah salad, fresh Syrian bread, gyros and on and on. Everything was perfect our little one was happy with her kids' platter and enjoyed the many condiments and salad sides as well. We felt comfortable lingering and were happy to taste several of the gourmet baklava and other sweets. We all wish we lived closer and will definitely be back. read more

I don't give many five star restaurant ratings, but I can't do less. Every time I come it's consistently fantastic. Quality, flavor, kind service, it's all there. The chicken kabob wrap is beyond crave worthy, but even the simple lentil soup is delicious. With such an extensive menu, there are many dishes I look forward to trying. read more

Beef shawarma pita was 10000/10 too, with perfect seasoning and a great balance of smoky and fresh flavors. Baklava was literal perfection. But the best part is that it doesn't stop at the flavors: This is my top pick because you can tell they actually care about giving good service. My husband has a dairy allergy and they knew exactly which items to avoid and offered suggestions for substitutions without hesitation. If you are looking for an alternative to East side pockets, this is a great find! The baba was the best I've had in RI, my family loved the kefta and fries.
