Good initial service but Keith did give me accurate information. My initial contract was $43 a month. He told me after two years it could go down to about $25 like comparable rates. He said I was just paying for the equipment. After the two years CSG would only lower my rate a few dollars and only if I entered a new two year contract. They explained that what I was told was not accurate. Update: I see Keith's response and yes, he has at least one customer in El Cajon and he knows that. I've added a photo to help him remember. After an unpleasant experience with ADT in getting our home alarm system reactivated, my husband found Alarm2000 through Yelp. Keith responded to our inquiry promptly and came to our home to explain the service within 24 hours of our initial contact. He explained that his company operates like a referral service, where he connects homeowners and business owners to security monitoring companies, which helps ensure that you get the best deal possible because those companies are competing for your business. Also, Keith takes care of any paperwork that needs to be filed with the city, so you don't have to deal with that hassle. A minor complaint is that the installation process didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. The first installation took 3 and a half hours, and the technician seemed to struggle with the system. The technician had to come back a second time in order to complete the programming of the system (if I recall correctly, there was an issue with programming one of our doors), which was not the most convenient thing for us. Fortunately, the second visit took a lot less time. But I do think that Alarm2000 technicians could use a little more customer service training especially in showing the owners how to better use the system rather than just handing them an instructional CD. So initially we had a great experience. They had great sales and pricing.. 3 years later....we had a whole house flood where every wall and ceiling were ripped out. We had to move out, our house is a shell. No need for an alarm, BUT we missed our WINDOW? To cancel service?!?!? We expect the new construction to be 18 months and they can only suspend service for 3 months. THEY MADE US BUY OUT OR CONTRACT FOR $130.00 dollars!!! The service we got from Alarm2000 was so great that I wished I had switched from ADT years ago! I left ADT and went without security after I called to test my system and it turned out they had "lost" my home phone number and were apparently monitoring my cell phone for an alarm instead for 3 years (what???) Keith the owner is pleasant, knowledgable and thorough. As opposed to other alarm installers I had come to the house, he insisted on revamping my existing higher end wired security system (instead of putting in a cheap wireless system I could have bought on Amazin for $150). Prices are great. He lets you switch monitoring companies if you want and checks that your SDPD permit is current. The actual install cost me $0, he passed the bill on to the monitoring firm to cover in exchange for a 2-year contract. His installer Steve was super, very polite, low-key, and thorough! He found that my ADT system would have not worked for years (even if they hadn't lost my number).... when I switched high-speed Internet providers my phone line to the alarm had been disconnected!!! He tested the smoke detectors, gave good instruction on the system, and cleaned up after the install. I would use Alarm2000 again and never consider ADT!! read more

After having a break in at my office I researched a bunch of alarm companies and finally decided to go with Alarm 2000. I was however a bit concerned from a couple of the yelp reviews, but it has been my experience that people tend to only leave bad reviews because they're motivated and angry. You can tell when people are vindictive in their reviews and I don't lend those a lot of weight. My experience with Keith (and Steve the installer) was what was expected. He had competitive prices and he delivered on his promises. He was very knowledgeable on the components needed and didn't try to over sell. He actually talked me out of equipment I thought I would need. I had him install a system in my home and in my office. I live in the 4S Ranch area and maybe it's me, but I recognize one of his signs on almost every street I drive. He must be doing something right... I recommend him. read more

Save yourself time and money and look elsewhere! Keith talked a good game when we were discussing an alarm and video surveillance system, but when it came time to deliver Alarm2000 failed miserably. The alarm system is fair, but the camera system is worthless. Now I am locked into a 3 year contract and Keith is not willing to refund the $600 paid for the cameras. After 4 on-site attempts to repair and 5+ calls working with technical support over the phone the system still does not work reliably. Multiple times during the on-site repair visits the technicians seemed to know less about the alarm system operation than I do, and I would find them asking me more questions about the alarm system than they were able to answer. Here is a summary of only the major issues. 1. Keith assured me that the alarm system would auto-arm using geo fencing and it will not. 2. The cameras video motion detection is either too sensitive or too weak, there does not seem to be a happy medium. When set so that it reliably detects a person in the motion zone, it gets too many false triggers at night (up to 150+ per night). Keep in mind that you only get 1000 clips per month and then it stops recording. When set so that there are only 10-15 false triggers per day, it detects a person walking directly in front of the camera during daylight only about 30% of the time. 3. Alarm2000 says that the cameras do not have a strong enough wireless signal which causes issue 2 from above and also cause cameras to drop connectivity. I have a very stable mesh wifi network and get a strong signal and 75+Mbps at all camera locations. I installed a Nest camera at the camera location they said was the worst, and will stream 4K video continuously with no connectivity issues. Sorry - it isn't the wifi. Regardless, wouldn't a good installer check the wifi signal strength and download speed prior to installing the camera? 4. The alarm frequently shows that random doors or windows are open, when they have been closed. Then you must bypass the sensor to arm the system. Later, sometimes up to an hour, the status of the door or window will update correctly. 5. Email from Keith - You paid me $600 for the three cameras that we installed. In an effort to find a compromise solution to your dissatisfaction with the performance of your cameras, I will refund $300 if you remove your Yelp review. You can keep your cameras, or I will remove them if you prefer. Let me know. One critical thing for any alarm system is reliability, and this system is very unreliable. I am out $600 paid for the cameras, locked into an expensive 3 year contract, and wasted about 30 hours of my time troubleshooting an alarm & surveillance system that in hindsight I wish I had never purchased. I wanted to wait a couple of weeks to write this review to see how our new system played out. A friend referred Keith from Alarm2000 to installed our alarm system. Keith arrived very promptly and was very friendly. He was very patient and answered all of our questions. He came Thursday night and our system was installed on Saturday. All of our equipments including the upgraded touchscreen pad was FREE! We ended up with the wireless service where we can do everything on our iPhone. There were some minor glitches but it only took one text to Keith to get the problem fixed. We definitely feel safer. These guys rock! Not only are they super friendly, they are very honest about what you do and don't need. I just bought a house that had an existing alarm (that the seller didn't provide codes to) and I wanted to replace it with something that enabled home automation. Kieth showed up the next day and explained how they could use the existing wired system, upgrade it with a new brain and enable all the home automation features. I had big plans on what I wanted to do but Kieth took his time to explain why some of them wouldn't work very well in practice where he easily could've taken just taken my money and I wouldn't have known better. They really want their customers to know what they're getting and why. Installation was scheduled for the day of the move in and the installer Scott actually showed up a little early and didn't complain once working around the moving crew moving boxes and furniture around. I considered a home security system for quite some time for a variety of reasons: Peace of mind, discount on home owner's insurance, quicker access to police/fire/medical in the event of an emergency, etc. Due to a few creepy folks in my neighborhood (think they hit the spoon with the lighter a few too many times), I decided it was time to end the procrastination and move forward. After some research and recommendations, I reached out to Alarm2000 on a Monday late afternoon. I prefer to support local businesses whenever possible, which made them an ideal choice. Within 30 minutes, Keith, their owner, called me directly and scheduled a time to meet the following evening (I have a crazy work schedule, so meeting after 5 alone was amazing) -- and he came to me. Unlike the larger national companies, I didn't feel like a number with Keith and his company. Keith and I walked through my house, and he pointed out valuable tips along the way of simple things I could do myself to make the place safer. Shortly later, we were writing up a work order and scheduling installation. He was friendly, enjoyable, knowledgeable and got right to the point - and he was cool with my asking a thousand and one questions along the way. Install was set for Friday morning. Their technician, Scott, showed up at the time they said he would. He was in and out in less time than anticipated, cleaned up after himself along the way (despite my telling him a few times he didn't have to worry about any mess since my cleaning lady was coming in a few hours). He, too, was friendly and knowledgeable about the products. He walked me through the system, tested everything and away he went. The system has been up and running all day with no problems; I've tested it thoroughly a number of times, including the various motion sensors ... which is important to me, considering I have three dogs that run around all of the time and I had a fear the four-legged menaces would trip the security system when they opted to start climbing on furniture and the like. To my delight, none of them did - as Keith and Scott promised. To go from procrastinating for almost five years to up and running with a full security system in basically four days (install could have been even earlier in the week had my work schedule allowed), I couldn't be happier. Looking forward to a long and positive relationship with Alarm2000. We had a system from ADT and when it came time to upgrade after some remolding I called ADT. Their customer service was so bad, it took weeks for ADT to get back to me. Alarm2000 is outstanding and we are very pleased with our decision to go with them for a full home security system. Our requirements were to take over an older existing but high-end house system (doors, windows, motion sensors) and add video monitoring and detached garage-door monitoring and control (open/close). I received estimates from other local security companies as well as ATT UVERSE. Since we have ATT for other home services I looked at them first. Long story short, bad reviews and a strong sense that they were just out for quota sales made me say no quickly. Keith the owner performed a very thorough estimate walk through. His professionalism, knowledge and pricing earned our business vs the other local companies. Install was scheduled for just 3 days after estimate. It went extremely smooth, and the technician Scott was very knowledgeable. Here are the 3 areas in decision making (IMO) 1. Installing Company: I decided to go local for the responsiveness/support. Each local company has their preferred equipment brands, etc. Alarm2000's were very capable. 2. Monitoring Service: Central Security Group is a common one. Solid, and the folks behind your monitoring/dispatch services. 3. Smart phone interface: Alarm2000 set us up with alarm.com app. Works excellent. System control, video, and garage door position monitoring + open/close control. We had one early glitch with alarm.com - system was shifting from Away mode to Stay mode. Called Keith the owner and he promptly connected with alarm.com and we performed a 3-way 30 min remote troubleshooting process that successfully fixed the issue. Outstanding! I found Alarm 2000 from referring to the sign that the previous home owners had in the yard. I called Keith and made an appointment for the install. Then had to call him 2 more times to reschedule. He was very understanding and very accommodating. When It finally came time for the appointment to take place, he arrived on time and provided a VERY detailed overview of the process and system. Once again, he was very accommodating to have his technician come out the very next day to get have the system go live, as I had broken a window on my move in and he wanted to ensure that I felt safe in my new home. The technician, Scott, was on time, if not 5 mins early and was able to quickly get things completely set up. They were both very professional and very thorough with the explanation to this first time home buyer! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to install or change their alarm provider. This started out to be a good experience that quickly went south. Keith is a good salesman that you think is on your side, but it turns out to be a facade. He was not clear on how the system worked and promised a free equipment move and installation if we moved. He neglected to mention it was after a year which we found very shady. He also was very argumentative and defensive in his emails once he got the sale. Furthermore, while yes you attempted to contact me through Yelp after I posted my review...WHY didn't you show the same interest in solving my systems mis-programing the first 4 times you sent your mickey-mouse technicians who had me purchase more and more equipment only to still not have the problem solved. Which brings this review full circle. If you want to pay someone to screw a plastic box with lights on your wall for the feeling of safety while leaving major opening in the systems security please hire Alarm 2000; HOWEVER, if you want a company who tries to decipher all your homes weak security points and then set up a system that protects your home from intruders based on those points of entry. I chose this company for the five star reviews it got in yelp. I said if all 12 people gave 5 stars they must be right because all the other security companies had really bad reviews. In our first meeting Keith looked trustworthy and knowledgable and assured me that his staff is very experienced. However, a few hours of predicted installation time turned in to almost one week of painful back and forth installer visits and rude emails. The first installer was not able to complete the installation, left the system in a non working state and while searching for preinstalled wires cut off the wire to the garage door opener, so I couldn't use the garage door opener for about a month. His excuse was that his equipment got stolen from his car and he didn't know how to use the new equipment he recently bought. Originally Keith said that he will pay for the garage door repair, but when I actually called him to pay for it he didn't remember his verbal promise and sent some nasty emails to me saying that it was too difficult for his installer to find the wire. The installers in general were rude, one of them smoke and threw the cigarette butts on the patio. At the end it was a frustrating experience to work with Alarm 2000 and I strongly recommend that you choose another company to work with. read more

This is the best security system installation company in the San Diego area. They installed a 24 zone Honeywell system in my house last week at less than half the price of the competition. The system works great and Steve the installer was wonderful. I am writing this review as my home security system is being installed. In short, I'm growing a bit impatient. The technician started the installation at 8:00 am; it's now 10:00 am, and he is still having trouble getting the alarm system to work. I'm a bit frustrated because I also have painters re-beautifying my entire house, so the back and forth by the technician and the constant loud alarm sounds are disruptive and of understatedly annoying. Apparently, the AT&T technician who came out to install the landline switched the "colors of the wires" causing a problem for the home security system. My understanding is that generally, this is not a problem. I suppose I just happened to be one of the few home owners that have unreasonably connected wires. 10:15 am and it looks like the alarm is finally working! Hallelujah! I just wish I didn't have to have Bill Humphries, the technician come out yet again for one more small matter - the sensors. I'm told it will only take 5 minutes. Thus far, everything, including the initial consultation has taken at least 1 hour. Initially, the owner Keith was very kind and informative. The consultation was slated for 15 minutes, but it took 1 hour; I was fine with that because I was able to get all my questions answered. He seemed less enthused after I wrote my check for the first month of service. I had to contact him because of an issue I had with the way my phone line was connected. Apparently, the previous owner had Cox and they cut the phone lines so that the owner could just use the Internet connection. Because of this, the Alarm 2000 tech, Bill Humphries could not install my home security system. AT&T immediately resolved the issue. I was frustrated to learn that the Home security technician could have easily still installed the system without AT&T coming out. Apparently, most home security companies/technicians are familiar with phone companies "cutting one another's lines", and therefore, are trained to work through it. When I contacted Keith to reschedule the technician visit he was not as friendly as the initial call when I stated an interest in securing his Home Security services. It always concerns me when a company that I am interested in doing business with is initially so customer service friendly, but once the first check is collected the service is not quite as friendly. I wondered if this was a red flag to go with another company. However, I went forward with alarm 2000. I was satisfied with the fact that he scheduled the technician to come back to my home based around my schedule. Alarm 2000 is very accommodating in that regard. Thumbs up for that. I'm giving alarm 2000 3.5 stars. However, since 3.5 stars is not available I'm bumping it up to 4 and will revise accordingly as time progresses. My rationale for the 3.5/4 stars is as follows: 5 stars for the initial phone call in consultation with Keith the owner which was extremely helpful. That was an awesome educational opportunity. 3 stars for the initial visit whereby the technician appeared at my home prior to calling first as I initially requested in my consultation with the key. Slight miscommunication, but it happens. 3 stars because I was told by AT&T technicians that the Home security system could have still been installed by the 2000 technician, even with Cox cable having "cut the phone line". 2 stars for the painful to two hour installation process. I was told that this would be a "quick and simple" installation. The installation interfered a bit with my painters ability to get their job done. Lots of bumping into one another and getting into one another's way. 2 stars for the conversations with Keith when he mentioned several times how he gets paid. The issue of how they get paid occurred a second time. Here, he indicated the technician who came out wanted to get paid but could not because the system was not installed. I felt this was unnecessary and in poor taste. I'm paying a monthly fee for a service. How a company gets paid is is internal, and should not be a matter taken up with the customer. 5 stars for the service technician Bill Humphries. He is very kind and has a great attitude. Loved his and customer service and friendliness. He is an absolute delight to work with. At this point, I cannot say whether I am 100% satisfied with the actual home security as I have not had any issues where the alarm would be triggered. God willing, I will never have to. Overall, I would recommend Alarm 2000. Recommend asking lots of questions and being very clear as to the process, timeframes, etc beforehand. read more

I would have like to have a 5 star review here but due to the monitoring company Keith uses, I have to give a 3 star rating. We've had the system installed for a year in January. In that time it's worked as expected and Keith has always returned calls within a day or so the few time we've needed help. However, in trying to move my system to a new home utilizing the one year free system in new house component of the purchase/warranty I have been unable to reach a customer service agent with the monitoring company that owns the system. Day one: 45 minutes on hold without answer. Day two: 60 minutes on hold without answer. Day Three: 55 minutes on hold just to cancel service and it's still not cancelled! So now I'm looking at paying two monitoring fees as Keith can't install a new system until my old components are available from the old service contract. Even though we have not subscribed to his service for several years (we moved on to a different system for personal reasons), our alarm system which he installed still remains in our house. Recently, an alarm starting going off very late at night and we determined it was not our new system. We thought it was the old system which Keith had installed, so we called him on his cell. Not only reasonable and fair rates, but more responsive than my former company. I don't have to worry about them knowing what's going on almost instantly. I scheduled an appointment with Keith based on positive reviews I read here on Yelp. When I called Keith on the phone he was very nice and personable. I scheduled an appointment with him but he was driving so he verbally gave me his email. He asked me to email him and send him a reminder of our appointment with my address. I really thought that this manner of scheduling appointments was strange and truthfully a bit unprepared - asking the customer to email to confirm the appointment. Nevertheless I emailed him and gave him my address. He emailed back confirming the appointment. On the day of the appointment Keith was 20 minutes late. He did not call because he never got my phone number. I called him. He then called me back and was apologetic saying that he had an emergency. I am very busy and really take punctuality seriously so I let him know that his company just wasn't going to be a fit. I thought that that would be it. Not a big deal, I was simply not going to use his services because of my view on punctuality, case closed. What really angered me, and made me write this review though, was that then Keith insulted me. He said, "Wow I never in my life have met someone so unforgiving on being late, I had an emergency, if you had an emergency I would hope someone would be forgiving to you!" That was a real shocker that this person would be late, not get my appropriate contact information and then insult and guilt trip me. I am simply trying to get an alarm system, I'm not looking to get into an argument or a fight with anyone. Now angered, I tried to give Keith a piece of my mind, but he didn't even have the courtesy to allow me to express myself and kept interrupting me. I ended up hanging up on him, and in a very bad mood. I have read other very positive reviews so I'm sure Keith does a lot of good things. As I said, initially he was very nice on the phone, and when he called back letting me know he was late initially he was very polite. Keith visited my home and instead of trying to upsell me, explained that my existing sensors (window, smoke, fire, etc.) were fine and that all we needed was a new panel that would also allow us to integrate with cameras and home automation (thermostats, lights, etc). Alarm 2000 works with a couple different monitoring companies (all UL listed) which allows them to get you a good deal on the monitoring fees. Steve came out and installed the panel and camera with no issues. Unfortunately, the camera began experiencing connectivity problems a few months after the installation. I called the monitoring company and verified the service call was covered under our warranty and asked for a technician to come out. Steve came out and resolved the problem. A few weeks later I received a $90 bill for the service call and got nowhere disputing the charge with the monitoring company. I emailed Keith and within a few days he got the charge reversed. I had a problem with our alarm system which was caused by our cable company. Cox cable said it was not their responsibility that I had to call my alarm company which is Alarm 2000. Calling the main number was a little frustrating. It all changed when they sent a guy named Bill to fix the problem. He said between 11:00 and 1:00 but he showed up promptly at 11:00. He figured out and fixed the problem within 20 minutes of which time included the time he tried to call the main office to test. He is very professional and knows what he's doing.
