Alaska goes head to head with Delta - as, Salt Lake City is a Delta Hub - regardless, when you want to fly from Seattle to the land of Zion - you can't beat the service and benefits of Alaska. I was traveling with my family and I spent extra for the seats so we could all sit together. In this particular aircraft, for some reason, the seats were offset and so we were not right by each other and I asked the flight attendant what we could do so my child was not on an aisle seat not with the rest of us. The flight attendant was very flippant and said that it didn't matter and that I should relax. Or that I could ask the OTHER family to switch. No solutions, no compassion, even though we paid extra and it is their website design that created the problem. I emailed customer service to hopefully show them an error in their planning for families and maybe get an apology. I did not ask for a refund. I was told that I was not due a refund and the case was being closed. That was it. The customer service on the plane, in the office, everywhere is awful and I will not be flying them again. My 14 yo Daughter missed her cruise with family friends due to ineptitude and delay by Ailine. Rebooked onto another flight when maintenance issues were cited and gate agent told her there were no seats and closed the plane. Second time in a row within 2 months June and July 2025, we booked Alaska airlines, and our flights were disrupted and travel plans either augmented or in this case, totally scrapped. Maintenance issues cited (Boeing of course). Customer service was outright insulting. I doubt the airline will take our complaint seriously... But they're happy to take your money and then placate you with "miles". Screenshots of insulting behavior to be sent as high as customer service will allow. Delta never has and probably never will treat a teenager and family this poorly which is why we will never fly Alaska airlines again. read more

I'm going to give Alaska Airlines 5 stars for coming through for me when Delta had some misfortunes with their plane today. I was not only going to miss my connection at SLC, but I would have been stuck for at least 6 additional hours for another available Delta flight heading to SEA. Alaska took me at the last minute and found a decent mid-plane window seat on a packed plane and got me to SEA with only 2 hours behind my original timeline. At SLC, there's really just Delta, and then everybody else. Which is a great, on the one hand, because we get lots of great flights to locations all over the US with the Delta hub. But it also means that there are other carriers that don't get as much attention. Whenever I fly the Pac Northwest, I look forward to Alaska. They're not like, uh-mazing, mind you, but they just seem to be dialed in to who they are. They know their size, their skills, and they stick to it. There was a super nice lady waiting for me as I arrive at the ticketing area, ready to direct me to what I needed. And halle-frickin-lujah, they've got kiosks there ready for everyone to use. A few clicks and I was printed and on my way to the A Gates area. There seem to be plenty of gate agents, and while the holding pens there are standard, I'm pretty jazzed on the plane. TVs? Nah. Cushy seats? Nope. But hidden, just under the bottom of the tray table, is a glowing bit of heaven: personal power strips. Wanna plunk away on the laptop? Plug it in. Phone need juice? Plug it in. Just have your USB cable? Yep, plug it in. I don't know how prevalent this is on their planes nowadays (it's been a while since I flew Alaska and this is a new thing) but hot diggity dog if that's not the most welcome addition to a plane since barf bags were introduced, I dunno what is. read more

My husband and I had FINALLY booked our first vacation with our 7 month old baby. We packed all our things, and all the babies things, drove an hour to the airport parking. Paid to park our car long term, shuttled to the airport. We walked to the kiosk to print our boarding passes, and the kiosk tells me it cannot find them. I tried using the flight number, our last name....nothing was working. We walked over to have someone assist us. After standing at the counter for 30 minutes, we were told our flight had been cancelled. Alaska airlines DID NOT notify me of the flight cancellation prior to this. I'm standing there with my arms full of luggage, a stroller and my screaming baby and we are told "we have a flight you can catch tomorrow?" Excuse me, what? Tomorrow? Oh, and then we are also notified our flight home (it's an hour and 40 minute flight), now has a 12 hour layover. Again, the flight home was supposed to be a non stop flight. I have my baby with us. Long story short, after me bawling my eyes out, Alaska tells us they will refund our money but it will "most likely take a few weeks because they are too busy." We then had to scramble to find another flight out. And the cost of flights nearly tripled. Our $800 dollar round trip flights are now costing us almost $2000. All Alaska could say was "so sorry for the inconvenience." I will NEVER EVER fly with Alaska again. read more

Two of my family's checked bags were either lost or stolen--we still don't know which--and Alaska Airlines has been mostly apathetic. They've done little to help us find our bags without us prodding them over, and over, and over again. Their corporate-level baggage department is the only group that's been accommodating, but they have almost no ability to help us because they rely on the employees at the Salt Lake City airport. If a customer loses thousands-of-dollars-worth of stuff, you'd think Alaska Airlines would care about it and help the customer. Apparently they don't care very much. read more

I really like Alaska. It's pretty much the only primary carrier of choice if you're living in Seattle, Portland, Oahu, or of course, Alaska. The flights in the early a.m. run and leave early, the actual employees seem happy albeit not cheerleader annoying like Southwest, Virgin and Jet Blue. Food, especially the cheese plate & first class is great. The food menu is formulated and optimized for altitude. (humans loose taste at altitude so be aware of eating too much). Aircraft have the reclining Recaro seats as well as power and wifi on almost every plane. Only issue I've ever had is that they don't always update the baggage claim carousel number correctly, so I've been stuck waiting for luggage at the wrong one.. That being said, in over 100 flight per year over 4 years, I've never had a lost or delayed bag. If you're wider, you might want to also consider Jet Blue, they run the a320 airplane vs. the 737, which is about 6 inches in overall diameter wider so more elbow room. Jet Blue is the only other airline I consider when choosing flights. read more

Hadn't flown Alaska before. Not sure I want to again. My wife was running a little late, travelling with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The baggage check people still accepted her luggage and told her to hurry but she should have time to make the plane since departure was still 20 minutes out. However, they neglected to tell the gate attendants she was on her way. So, long story short, her luggage got loaded on the plane but they closed the door two minutes before she got there. The gate attendant said she had time to board but they didn't know she was coming so they closed the door early. So her luggage got sent on a plane she wasn't on - that alone should be a security breach - but then they put her on a plane to a different airport an hour away. Which meant I had to drive to the first airport to get her bags, then to the second to get her and our kids. Thanks Alaska! So, on our return flight almost the same thing happened! This time we were 45 minutes early, and the baggage check people spent a good 10 minutes telling us how late we were. When we got to the plane, again it was a good 10 minutes before scheduled departure but since almost everyone else was on board Alaska was about ready to close up the plane. I understand the need to depart on time but something's being lost in the follow-through. read more

I had to re-route my flight and she was super pleasant considering how crazy some other customers were. -If you're flying a 737-800, you may have a USB port to charge devices (so convenient). -Great, clean planes. Traveled all my life, had to deal with all sorts of less-than-adequate service from airlines, which is something you kind of have to expect and get through. However, I've never met someone as rude in the service industry than whoever runs the ticketing/bag check in for Alaska airlines. Yelled at me and my travel companions asking if we were flying Alaska airlines and calling security on us for using a trash can that was adjacent to the Alaska line (but was actually on the frontier side). It's sad to see an airline go so far down hill if they let someone like that represent their company with such disrespect. She wouldn't give us her name when we asked to report her but she looks a bit like ursula, the villain from the little mermaid. Rudest individual I've come across in a long time. read more

Finally flew using this airline, I flew out to LAX from SLC. I was impressed, the way they loaded the plane made sense. After the first class and those with kids, they proceeded to load the plane from the rear to the front. Which would make sense in any world and they did. Put a little smile on my face seeing as most of the military loads from the rear to the front for less congestion. The plane I was on had plugs behind each seat so I could charge my phone mid flight. Also like most planes these days they had wifi on board. You had to pay like $10 extra for full use of the internet. The free one only came with shows that the airline decided which wasn't too bad, it kept me entertained the entire flight. It also showed how far along you were til you arrived to your destination. I would definitely fly Alaska Airlines again if I had the chance, and for the right price. read more

Great prices to vegas from SLC! They have great pricing, the staff is friendly and the planes are clean. This is a no frills flight from SLC to Vegas. It's a smaller plane and it gets a little bumpy at times, but its only like an hour flight and you can't beat the price. I reccomend using them for regional flights. read more

Alaska Airlines seems to be the last hope for airlines. I have flown three times with them and every time they seem to be helpful and friendly. I love the guarantee they provide on checked luggage...if it isn't out in 20 minutes they will give you some free air miles. Keep up the great service Alaska Airlines. We were right on time even though the entire Washing Huskies baseball team was on the flight, and you know how college boys can dilly dally. I have flown multiple different airlines out of SLC and by far this was the best experience that I have had with any airline. The gate crew were extremely effecient and friendly and once aboard the plane the flight staff were just as friendly. The boarding process was extremely smooth and went very quickly. Our flight to SFO landed 20 minutes early and our return flight landed about 10 minutes early. I look forward to flying Alaska Airs whenever possible. read more

First the good things-I am impressed with this airline's new plane we flew on and they left pretty close to on-time and the pilot was good. They were willing to work with Delta to get us on a flight when Delta caused us to miss a connection. But the flight attendants were the worst I've ever experienced!! They were immature, rude, bratty, and were sitting back in the corner texting on their phones the entire time. The last thing you want after traveling for over 24 hours when you are exhausted is a rude, bratty flight attendant. I politely apologized but asked if he would please mind giving me no ice in my water (I don't normally request this but it was because I was freezing cold and there were no blankets.) The flight attendant yelled at me, spilled the water all over me and walked away- I was completely soaked and very cold the rest of the flight. We never saw the flight attendants out in the cabin again because they were in the back texting and snickering like a bunch of junior high kids. During the take off announcements they kept making inside jokes and did not seem to take anything seriously. read more
