Lowe's has always been my go-to store with Home Depot as backup. AIH was recommended to me, and it did not disappoint! A much better price on what I was buying, super friendly and helpful staff. Even the delivery guy was great (good communication and right on schedule for delivery). I'm moving AIH to to top of my list now. If I can buy it at AIH, I will buy it at AIH. read more

So to me, a lady who does not utilize power tools, a square, or even a hammer, this store is just any hardware store. When I come into this store, it's usually with the man in my life. Sometimes, not often, I'll find something of interest at some point in the store. I got a phone charger here once... Recently we came in here to get a tape measure, a chalk line, and duct tape. It was a quick go to the products, go through checkout, and we're on our way. It's not often that the items that we're here for are difficult to find. If help is needed finding product, there's usually someone around to help out. It bothers me a little that they're super choosey about what's allowed on the military discount, but I guess it's typical for most hardware stores. They are a bit more expensive than Home Depot or Lowes, but they're convenient. All around they're organized, clean, well stocked, and usually pretty knowledgable. I was just not impressed with the customer service... Not quite stellar, but passed the test. read more

Aih is about 20-30% more expensive than Lowe's or Home Depot, so it's not typically my go to hardware store. What they do offer is somewhat knowledgeable employees, which is hit or miss at the box stores. Customer service varies by employee, some are super helpful, others seem to barely want to assist. The quality of most of what they sell is excellent. I think my only complaint would be that they close early- I really prefer places with evening hours to buy what I need after my work day is done. It is also a pain to do a return of anything, you have to fill out a form with all your personal info, even when you have the receipt. I suspect the retail end is more of a bother to them, as their bread and butter is the large commercial and bush accounts. read more

I really appreciate this locally owned hardware store that has a great selection, but more limited than big box stores, making it easier to find high quality stuff you really need. They offer a 10% business discount if you qualify, which helps with savings on certain items. Their customer service has always been awesome--they take returns, help over the phone, and usually know the stock rally well. And as a female contractor who spends a lot of time in hardware stores, I really appreciate that the staff has women on it, and that all the employees treat me with respect, not patronizing or sexist the way often happens at other stores. While AIH has a wide range of inventory and decent prices, they practice what I consider a deceitful type of advertising. They claim to offer a MILITARY DISCOUNT. BUT, the discount applies to very few items....for example, none of their power tools have it...not even wheelbarrows. I have purchased over $2500 worth of items from them in the past three months and NONE of it qualified -- not a power tool, not a wheelbarrow, not a plasma cutter...NOTHING. There should be rules in place that state if you don't apply the discount to at least 80% of your inventory, then you can't advertise that you are military friendly. They take advantage of the military by claiming to offer the discount and then saying "sorry, that item is not eligible for the discount". It's total B.S. that they get away with it. I still haven't found anything that qualifies for the discount. Hey, AIH, you aren't military friendly. Yes, you have great selection and fairly decent prices....but your advertised "military discount" is a farce. read more
