I've had a huge Alaskan landscape original oil painting by artist Steven Gordon for the past 30 years. It is magnificent and pulls you into the scene of a cascading stream through the lush fall forest foliage. It has been prominently displayed in my California Sierra ski lodge for at least 25 years. But I am moving to another country, and it wouldn't be practical to take it with me. I reached out to a number of Alaskan fine art galleries to see if they would consign the painting. Then I learned about Alaskan Premier Art Auctions and emailed them. They were able to achieve a handsome price for my painting, while finding it a new home where it will be enjoyed indefinitely. Wow! With all the awards I thought I'd get great service! It was anything but. Today I decided to load up my collection of original paintings and visit this auction house. No sooner did I walk in and the three women behind the counter kinda jumped at me and said they don't take walk-ins. I said I just brought in a few things. They said they require a pre-signed contract before they even talk to anyone. And that you have to visit with a sales person. I'm not sure how I was supposed to know that. I felt like they did not even want to talk to me. I got the opposite of warm and fuzzy. Standing my ground--even though I wanted to walk out---I said I'd be happy to visit with a sales person. Before even looking around they said they were all busy. Huh? Interesting. They explained you had to have an appointment on top of already having a signed contract. Hum, I wondered, how do you do that if the sales people are all busy. Finally, one lady said, oh, the sales manager is in and available. I said great, and said that wasn't that hard. She left. The second lady left with her (they weren't doing anything as far as I could tell) and while I'm waiting there the last lady felt uncomfortable. I felt like walking out. But I decided that maybe they were just having a bad day. A few minutes later one of them came back and said the manager was busy with another person who had an appointment. It would be a while. I just totally felt unwanted. I didn't feel like this is an Alaskan company. I left and was welcomed with open arms at another auction company. And I wonder how Alaska Premier Auction could have all these awards if they treat everyday people this way. Maybe they bought them! read more

I have bought multiple items from Alaska Premier, all I can say with auction shopping, is know the items value. Don't over pay, and it's probably fake, or a reproduction. This is the best auction house in Alaska, in my opinion. General descriptions are on point, bidding platform is excellent. Billing, item collection times, it all works smoothly. I have bought one item over the last few years that I feel was misrepresented, I should have inspected it closer, otherwise I feel this is a solid auction house. I will say that items generally get bid up over retail, so watch out and stick to your max bid. read more

Overall really good people to work with and a flawless online system for bidding. No delay even using an old tablet. They do a great job with pictures showing the flaws of damaged items. The warehouse crew are all friendly and helpful (though they will not help you load anything, as a caution if you buy something heavy). The one big disappointment (and why only 3 stars) in the experience is their VERY disorganized pickup system (don't even consider shipping, it's outrageously overpriced!). They require you to commit to a 10 minute 'window' but there are not enough of those to accommodate everyone if it's a large auction. They also schedule with no thought to what amount of time will actually be required. So if you don't reserve a spot within a few hours of being notified and given the link, you may not get a time slot. Worse, every time slot is the same 10 minutes, whether you have one item or many. This leads to a cluster of vehicles and trailers picking up larger items/equipment and a possible delay of HOURS. Lastly, keep in mind the 20% extra they charge when bidding. It's easy to overbid if you don't factor that in. A lot of things go too high because people get excited and logic takes a back seat! It's probably very rare to actually get a really good deal on anything. read more

What a bunch of liars and losers. This place got too big too fast. I feel they have no appreciation for customers. I bud on several items several weeks in a row. They required that I pick up items at a selected 10 minute time frame window. I showed up ten minutes early one week and got a reprimand. The next week I was on time to the minute and had to wait 20 minutes more. Then they could not find one of the items and told them to just take it off of my invoice, they refused and said they would get back to me when and if they found it! On the third day after the auction I had still not heard from them. I used this auction company the first year of business and was happy with them but a few years later I do not trust this group. read more

I was just billed over $1100.00 for shipping of some small items by their "in house shipping" (only shipping option). Let me repeat that. OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO SHIP SOME SMALL ITEMS. I contacted Alaska Premier Auction to sell a couple rare and valuable items. They communicated with me quickly and clearly. They offered estimates of what they thought my items would likely bring at auction. I went ahead and put my items in the auction. The descriptions they wrote in the actual auction did not adequately describe the items. As a result there were very few bids and my items sold for a pittance. The final bids were not even close to their estimates. I think I could have done as well with a pawn shop. I did receive my payment from them in a timely manner. Not a terrible experience but still rather disappointing overall. I will not do business with them in the future. read more

In dealing with Dan and his bright team of auction coordinators I felt comfortable throughout the entire transaction.
