Booked the glacier full day trekking tour and had Billy as my guide and couldn't have had a better…read moreexperience! Everything about dealing with this company was a breeze! I booked the day before, the morning of the owner texted me to confirm that I would be picked up at my Airbnb, Billy texted me notifying me when he was on his way. He was kind, responsive, full of information, considerate, and willing to tailor the speed and details to the needs of the group. He truly made this trip enjoyable. Van ride to the glacier is about 100 miles, we stopped at a gas station about half way. We stopped twice for two photo opportunities, and then made our way to the glacier gift shop to sign waivers. Then drove down to the launch point of the trek. There are ample bathrooms down there. Billy did not accompany us on the glacier but that was okay, our guide at the glacier was super sweet and knowledgeable. I felt more than safe! You walk across a floating bridge to get your microspikes and then we spent about 2-2.5 hours trekking the glacier. You do spend most of the hike on the rocky surface, but we did a pretty steep climb on the blue ice to get to the top of our area, we drank glacier water (amazing) and then saw the base of the glacier which was stunning. Post trek we returned to the tent and met up with Billy, he had snacks waiting for us and then drove us up to the lodge for lunch. After lunch we made the drive back, and again Billy was willing to accommodate different drop off points.

We had such a WONDERFUL day dog sledding with our guide Lori…read more Our day started with getting picked up at our hotel in downtown Anchorage. Hotel pickup was super helpful since we didn't rent a vehicle. Lori made a bathroom/coffee stop 45 minutes into the drive. We stopped at a local coffee shop which was so thoughtful instead of stopping at your typical gas station. Afterwards we arrived at our destination for the dog sled tour. We went during the winter and it gets very cold when you are moving on the sled! We are from Arizona so we didn't have snow boots or other items on hand. Luckily snow shoes, heavy gloves, beanies, etc were provided for us to change into so that we stayed nice and warm on the sled. We were paired up and got the chance to sit down and ride in the front of the sled which was perfect for taking videos and pictures. And the other person had the chance to stand up at the back of the sled. We warmed up with a delicious lunch at a nearby lodge and made our way back to Anchorage. Overall, we had such a great day thanks to Lori and the dog mushers. It was truly a one of a kind experience! Highly recommend 907 Tours.

Our cruise ship arrived in Whittier and our driver, Phil, showed up with a sign with my name on it…read morewell ahead of schedule. I'll spare you the details, except to say there is a one-way tunnel with a schedule for when you can drive through it, and Phil managed it perfectly by showing up more than an hour early. We paid for a private 9-hour tour, which was convenient because the van securely held our luggage the entire time until we eventually got to the Anchorage airport. Phil customized the tour based on our preferences, so we were able to do some excellent hikes and got to see some bears, moose, elk, and others at a wildlife sanctuary. Phil is a good historian and had plenty to say as he drove us around and accompanied us on our adventures.

The sled dog ride was so much fun, the dogs were incredible, and getting to meet the adorable puppies afterward made the experience even better. Honestly, I am not sure who enjoyed it most, the kids or the adults. Everyone was genuinely welcoming and friendly, and the entire experience was informative, interesting, and entertaining from beginning to end. You can tell how much these dogs are loved and how excited they are to run. This was easily one of the highlights of our entire Alaska trip. It is a fantastic experience for the whole family and worth every penny. If you have the opportunity to do it, do not miss it.

I brought my bike here for a bent rim and they had it fixed within 4 days during the busy summertime. They charged $50. Their road bike inventory is super limited compared to their mountain bike inventory, but they can order anything online and have it shipped to their store for assembly. This has to rank as one of the most wonderful vacations of our lives. The scenery was spectacular - we hit the Alaska/Canadian border at exactly peak Fall color. The Top of the World Highway was overwhelmingly beautiful. Chicken, Alaska, with its history of gold mining, was a fascinating place. Dawson City and the Yukon River was a historical wonder. Although we struggled with variable cloud cover, we saw some fine auroras. The thread of gold mining, both historical and present day, wound through the entire trip like a great - sometimes tragic - historical epic novel. The pace of the six-day tour, driving in a minivan from Fairbanks via Tok, Alaska to Dawson City, Yukon, never felt rushed. There was always time to walk, take photographs and learn about the specific locations which we stopped at. We were fortunate with generally good weather and a very pleasant, friendly small group (10). This, however, was a small contribution compared to the leadership of Laurent Dick. Laurent has an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of Alaska and Canada. He has a decade-long career as a photographer and writer. He is a great story teller. In addition to this, though, he knows how to run an immersive travel experience. He is always enthusiastic, always good-humored, always willing to go the extra mile for his clients. He was very willing to be flexible during the trip allowing us to do things "our own way" and make the traveling be our own distinctive experience , rather than adhere to a rigid plan. He spent enormous effort getting to know each of us and constantly steered the conversation in a light hearted way to an inclusive goal, making us all feel appreciated and valued. I could not imagine a better tour guide and I would unreservedly recommend him to anyone thinking of a trip like this. I do know that this special vacation will stay in our memories for a long time.

On this trip we saw beautiful fall colors, the aurora several nights and got to experience the funky mining town of Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. We traveled through the Alaska Range where each turn provided a WOW vista, then traveled the Top of The World Highway into Dawson City. Words cannot describe the beauty of this part of the world. You won't experience this on any other tour and would certainly miss much of the sights traveling on your own. I'm planning on yet another trip with Laurent and Wild Alaska in the future!

The additional parking lot was totally new to me. I recommend skipping the main lot and parking there. I ended up having to leave my eldest two on a rock, so I could grab the car in the main lot and pick them up. They were so done with me! haha I pushed my toddler in a City Mini GT (all-terrain stroller) the entire time. I like to hike, but I've yet to invest in those fancy backpack toddler holders (see, I don't even know what they're called). It was my goal for us make it to the infamous bridge and back. We did it. I'm so damn grateful. I don't have a dog, a gun or bear spray (yet). I depend on a simple bear bell, my super loud Bluetooth speaker, and the protection of my ancestors, angels, and spirit guides. Luckily, we saw other hikers often. We were never alone for too long. Still lots of snow melting. The trail was still very wet and muddy in some spots. We did not have waterproof boots so naturally we left soaked from the calves down. It was worth it. Highly recommend.

You may not know the name "Powerline Pass Trail", but you've probably been on it before…read more It's often used as a sort of "trail hwy" to access other, more desirable trails. It starts at the Glen Alps trailhead. (same as the most popular hike in Alaska, Flattop: https://www.yelp.com/biz/flattop-mountain-trail-anchorage-2) The Powerline Pass trail itself goes all the way to the actual Powerline Pass (the big mountain on your left/north is Avalanche Mountain https://www.yelp.com/biz/powerline-pass-trail-anchorage, the one on your right/south is Homicide Peak) and then goes south, towards the Turnagain Arm and ends at the Indian Trail Valley Trail (https://www.yelp.com/biz/indian-valley-trail-anchorage). There are also various offshoots including (from Glen Alps): Williwaw Lakes Trail (https://www.yelp.com/biz/williwaw-lakes-trail-anchorage): at about 0.5 mile, take a left, then take a left at the fork in about a mile. O'Malley Trail (https://www.yelp.com/biz/o-malley-peak-trail-anchorage): same as above, but take a right at the fork Hidden Lake Trail: at about 4ish miles in, take a left Great place to use as a hub. If you just want to get out of the city and move your legs, this is a great trail to do a mile or two on. Doing it as a trail in and of itself, it's a little boring on foot. The real thrill of this trail is doing it on a mountain(or fat) bike or skis.
