The service at this place is excellent. I have never had some one genuinely care about getting us the right bike for a rental. We got the e-bikes and the host had us try a few e-bikes with different height and different battery propulsion system. They also had a large selection of "hybrid" bikes which do not have an electric assist. We did not try those , but the customers returning the bikes at the end of their rentals seemed happy. They have a nice and warm indoor tryout/practice area to get comfortable with the bike before renting them out. They also have restrooms and water including water bottle for purchase and a water fountain. They were very patient with us and other customers while we were trying the bikes. They explained the bike trails (including the highlights, some tips form wildlife sighting and the parts to be careful in) and suggested us some of the routes that we can take. I would consider this rental location above others as this is larger, is located nearest to the start of the coastal trail and had a large selection of bikes. read more

I'd rent from this place every time. The kid who helped us out was very accommodating and patient. He made sure we had just the right fit and the boss helped out to make sure we were able to get matching colors for some better photos. We were given helpful instructions on how to navigate along the coast and thoughout the Anchorage area. He also gave us a map and some great recommendation of where to stop during our ride. The manual bikes aren't anything too fancy, but with the great rates, that was expected and absolutely fine. I appreciate how they provided a little basket and offered to take a couple pictures before we took off on our journey. They also have some snacks and drinks for sale at the front desk. Regarding the Kincaid Park ride itself - it will be a bit challenging for some, so with picture stops and rest breaks you may want to allocate a bit more than 3 hours. And definitely pause along the path to watch a plane fly in. read more

We didn't reserve bikes or buy a tour in advance because we weren't certain of our schedule or the weather but that's no prob for them-when they say they won't run outta bikes they're tellin the truth! We got four traditional bikes and rode the Coastal trail out n back. Other folks were going e-bikes which is cool and they rent both. They also provide helmets and cable locks which is a nice bonus. We were able to leave our luggage there as well. The bikes were great-no equipment issues and they made sure before we left that everything fit and we were comfortable. Rent a bike here. The staff is relaxed and inviting. They were helpful in finding a bicycle that fit me well with seat and other adjustments. The rentals are reasonably priced, not too expensive, but not cheap. The staff was helpful in suggesting enjoyable routes. We took one that went around the airport. Being very close to the end of the runway led to very cool photos of the aircraft taking off just above me. We continued our ride and were fortunate to have multiple moose sightings, something not extraordinary for Alaskans, but as a tourist, I thought was pretty exciting. I didn't do any comparison shopping before I went here, and I'm glad I didn't. You shouldn't bother. This is THE place to rent a bike. Prices are great and the help is too. Pete will make sure have the bike you need. Be sure to check it out, ride it around, go up and down a hill on the next street over. Helmets, bicycle locks, maps, directions are all included. You can't beat the price or the service. He gave me a free 20mins on the outbound, and even though I came back well after the 3 hour minimum, he didn't charge me for the extra time. I have never been more entertained, renting a bicycle in my life. The guys at this shop are clever, have a lot of great insights for tourists visiting, and clearly care about their community and repping it well. A foursome of us rented bikes to do the Tony Knowles coastal Trail. I while I would've appreciated going back the way we came, we discussed our options, exactly like the guide suggested, and decided to continue through town instead and of course we were rewarded by a moose sighting (a momma and two calves) that we never would have seen had we turned around. And I highly recommend this cheap and fun way to experience Anchorage. I'll be honest I don't love Anchorage, I'd rather be out in "real Alaska," but this experience warmed my heart a little bit to the charms of Anchorage. read more

When doing research we found this company offered cheaper deals on bike rentals. They had plenty of bikes to choose from, but we wanted e-bikes to help with the 22 mile round trip bike ride along the Coastal Trail and fortunately some were returned when we arrived. It was $42 for 3 hours, an extra hour was $4, then $3, etc. S E R V I C E The young employees were really friendly and helpful with our rentals. They mapped out the route for us to drive along the Coastal Trail. Excellent customer service for such young employees! L O C A T I O N The company is located in Downtown Anchorage, so there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you work up an appetite and souvenir shops if you feel like shopping. We ate at MyThai for lunch and Glacier Brewhouse for dinner. Both places were fantastic, although if you plan on eating at Glacier Brewhouse I recommend putting your name down early; there was a 2 hour wait for dinner but fortunately we snagged a table in the bar which offers the full menu (first-come, first-serve). read more

I was visiting prior to Iditarod and looking for something outdoors & physical to do. With the existing snow/ice, fat tire biking (studded tires) was a good option. Downtown Bicycle is walkable from the downtown hotels. I had my doubts about something that convenient, but was pleasantly impressed with the selection of bikes, as well as the advice and help of our sales assistant, Peter. Not only did he quickly get out bikes sized up, he recommended various trails. We lucked out and got to see a moose on the coastal trail. Our hotel allowed us to store the bikes in our room, making a 24 hour rental the way to go. FYI: if looking for more challenging riding, Kinkaid and Campbell parks offer wooded single track trails. read more

Pete was so kind!!!! Drew us out an entire map, had so many bikes to choose from, gave us gloves to make sure we weren't too cold, offered to take our picture, and was just overall so helpful! We got caught up and were 15 minutes after closing and he was so kind to wait for us. This is definitely the place to rent in anchorage! He went above and beyond and we had the best experience! We booked a shuttle to Flattop mountain. Very affordable price includes ride there and they wait for you to come back for a trip back to the town. Peter, the owner, is super passionate about hiking, biking, and anything outdoors. He's a great tour guide and he included many tips and trips along the way. The hike up the mountain was outstanding. Fabulous bike rental shop in downtown Anchorage with long hours and friendly staff! We arrived in Anchorage at around 8:00PM to find all of the bike shops closed, except for this one (they are open until 10PM). I was able to check out a bike quickly and get a longer ride in that night (midnight sun!) since I was leaving again mid-morning. Their prices were extremely reasonable (better than the other two places) and the bike was in great shape. They will give you a rundown of all the trail options too if you want it. All the guys who work here are awesome in their own way! They had a WeeHoo for our daughter to ride like a queen but Downtown also had the big trailer to fit a couple of toddlers, as well a sitting bicycle attachment for the hardier kiddos. Their bikes worked great! We made it to Pluto on the Planet Walk and back, totaling over 20 miles with no bike issues. It took us almost 5 hours to get the bikes back to them, but they were totally cool about it and only concerned that we eventually came back with everything in order and that we had a good time. You can park in the garage on B St and 5th all day, walk a couple blocks over to their shop, and explore downtown Anchorage as well as the Coastal Trail from there. First off- all of your questions and reservation can be done via text to the owner, which I really appreciated. Super friendly. We made reservations and when we arrived at the store the owner had us "test" ride the bikes around the block, then made some adjustments on the seats. We told him where we planned to ride and he gave us some trail tips and spots we should stop at for epic photos. Very friendly! If I had reviewed my experience just after picking up my bike, this would have been a five-star review. Unfortunately, the owner managed to take what would have been a five-star experience (and recommending it to anyone who wanted to rent a bike in Anchorage) and lop three full stars off of it. When I picked up the bike late in the afternoon, the young man behind the counter was very friendly (though clearly inexperienced). After signing the paperwork, he ran my card for less than I had expected to pay based on the pricing online and told me I could keep it a couple extra hours for the same price--but of course, I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth (for all I knew, they ran end-of-day specials for a discount off of the normal pricing for late-in-the-day rentals). I had a great experience riding the majority of the Moose Loop and returned the bike exactly on-time as specified by the young man at pick-up. The person in the store was middle-aged--I later found out it was Peter, the owner. As he signed the bike back in, he told me that the young man (or "11th-grade kid," as he called him) undercharged me. I said I figured as much but assumed it was a late afternoon special or something. He asked me if I could pay the balance. I said no, I had a verbal contract with the rental agent and met the specified terms precisely, and if the rental agent had not specifically told me I could keep the bike longer, I would have returned the bike earlier to avoid extra charges. To that, I received a sarcastic "Fine, if that's how you want to play ball." Had he just cheerfully waved me off and chalked up the undercharge to a training issue with his employees, I'd have posted a five-star review and told everyone looking for a fun activity in Anchorage to rent a bike for a day from him. A greedy, sarcastic comment over $20 completely changed my experience, though. No doubt I'm now on his "do not rent" list, but that's fine--I'd rather give my money next time to someone who doesn't give his customers lip for his own employees' mistakes. (After relaying my experience to a local friend, I learned that Peter was the ex of one of their friends and I was not at all the first person to learn firsthand that Peter is kind of a...jerk. Pete and the staff here are awesome. We did the hike/bike/shuttle combo. Since we rented Mountain bikes it came out to around $120 for 2 of us. Peter's an organized guide and gave a nice tour while in the bus. One thing I will say is DO NOT take the flat top hike or bike trails lightly. We are experienced hikers albeit not in tip top athletic fitness. One advantage is that the elevation only gets to 3500 ft, so we were not winded but the scree climbing and descent was difficult. The climb is a steep ridge with loose rock bouldering. After the hike I think doing the bike all the way back to the store was TOO MUCH. The trails are incredibly fun, but there are rocks, tree roots, narrow hairpin turns and steep descents. Also - not all of it was downhill so after the hike a long pedal was a very strenuous experience. Only choose this if you are a skilled mountain biker. Pete recommends Jeff's Whoop Whoop, which we did survive and had a blast, but I was scared for us and so was a local who gave us tips on how to get through it. We rented two hybrid electric pedal assist bikes this morning to ride the 11 mile coastal bike path. The owner met us at the door. He was very friendly. He explained the different types of bikes he offers and the bike trail details. We decided on the hybrid pedal assist bikes since the paved trail had quite a few hills and the total ride would be 24 miles if we took the alternate route back. He offered us helmets, which we declined. He gave us a bike lock and a map of the trail, including an alternate route around the sea plane airport, which was amazing. We were in and out of the bike shop in less than 10 minutes. The bikes were practically new. They road great. We were out a little less than 4 hours including a half hour stop at Taste Freeze for some milk shakes. The bike path exceeded our expectations. We even saw a moose and a porcupine. We highly recommend you rent a bike from this shop and ride the coastal trail and take the alternative route back. read more
