Remote, peaceful, immersed in nature, this is hands down one of our favorite spots in all our travels. During the boat ride to the property we got lucky and saw a couple of orcas! Upon arriving we were in awe of the property, the views, and the amenities. We went fishing, cooked fresh salmon on the grill, hung out in the shared space and met other guests, and enjoyed the sound of rain on the yurt roof. I literally had the best night of sleep in my adult life in that yurt! So so cozy. There were river otters that came by each day, which was an added bonus. We will definitely return to take advantage of the surroundings more!

We were…read moregreeted time and time again by excellent staff from the boat taxi at check in all the way to check out. We had a memorable stay here at Orca Island. We were given the Oyster Catcher yurt which had a nice combo of a view of the inner cove and the outter bay. Our yurt was in excellent condition with great amenities. We did shopping in Seward before the trip as recommended by the hosts and had all we needed to prepare great meals at the yurt. We used the kayaks to stumble across salmon spawning near the cabins. The spawning was one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever watched. Thousands of salmon making their way upstream in all different stages of life. Incredible. The kayaks were in great condition and we appreciated being taught how to use the kayak skirts because we come from warm water area where skirts aren't used. I recommend bringing water shoes if you plan to kayak as ours came in really handy when getting off the kayaks at the nearby waterfall. If you plan to fish, I'd recommend bringing your own tackle. We weren't having much luck with what was rigged up but we also didn't fish for that long. Still would have been nice to have our own lures to use because their lures seemed too big for the fish in the cove. Tons of fish, not a single bite. I don't think the hosts are that big on fishing. Always good to do your own research if you wanna catch something. During our stay we saw a ton of jelly fish, bald eagles, thousands of salmon, otters, sea lions, puffins, and more birds I couldn't identify. Incredible experience. We loved the art gallery and communal coffee spot. Wish we bought some orca island gear while we were there but forgot to stop back in the shop before departing. Stay here!! Don't bat an eye at the price. It is worth it.

The snow-capped mountains were incomprehensibly wondrous! The massive blue glaciers were numerous! The oceans, streams, rivers, and lakes were plentiful. We were anble to see sea otters, stellar sea lions, Dall's porpoises, puffins, and a juvenile eagle, among several other types of birds. All of that being said, my most cherished memory was seeing the humpback whales spouting and playfully rolling around in the seawater! It, unfortunately, is STILL my dream to see a whale breaching the water! After gaining the knowledge bestowed upon us by this crew and before returning back to the harbor, we were served lunch. Stale tortilla chips & salsa were served alongside a re-heated burrito. Being pre-heated and then reheated, the burritos were not at all appetizing! The salsa did not help the tortillas at all, either. The crew aboard this boat was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient with this particular group of passengers, many of whom ended up hanging over the sides of the boat while seasickness. I definitely recommend this tour and hope you get this particular crew (Captain Greg, Senior Bobbi, Clint, and Max.)

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with spectacular glaciers, incredible wildlife, and stunning coastal views everywhere we looked. Our captain was amazing! She did a fantastic job pointing out every scenic highlight and all the sea animals we encountered along the way. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the trip even more enjoyable. A special shout-out to the two young servers on board. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the cruise. When we reached the glacier, they even helped us take photos while we held pieces of glacier ice, creating memories we'll treasure forever. I would 100% recommend this cruise--as long as you don't get seasick. The water can get rough. Unfortunately, even though our daughter took Dramamine before boarding, she still became seasick and couldn't fully enjoy the experience. If you're prone to motion sickness, consider talking to your doctor about stronger prevention options before your trip. Overall, this cruise is an absolute must-do in Seward. Dress warmly, bring a good camera, and prepare for one of the most unforgettable experiences Alaska has to offer!

We decided we wanted to do a glacier and sightseeing tour, but all of the companies that showed up in our initial Google search were already booked. After a little more searching, we came across this company, and after reading the reviews, we decided to give them a try. The reviews were spot on. The whole experience was amazing. The glacier was absolutely beautiful, and seeing both humpback whales and orcas on the same trip was something we'll never forget. Leif shared great stories along the way, and both he and Emily were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, wildlife, and local history. They were also just genuinely friendly and made the entire trip fun and relaxed. This ended up being one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. I booked this tour months in advance to ensure we would be able to go. The staff was friendly and the captain greeted everyone. They do forewarn about sea sickness, losing items like a hat and also safety to prevent falling overboard. Things they obviously have no control over is who will get seasick (they had Dramamine and ginger chews for purchase) , what the weather is like, and what sealife you may or may not see. Additionally they must stay a good distance away from from the animals for safety reasons. They do have a bar for alcoholic beverages, sandwiches that are part of the package (turkey, beef, vegetarian with option for gluten free bread), but you may wish to bring your own food and snacks. My best advice: - book the tour early - get in line early so you can get a seat outside the main cabin (good views and helps reduce some of the sea sickness) - bring or purchase some dramamine - bring sunglasses - bring binoculars to better view the sealife and glaciers - make sure you have warm clothing that you can easily secure given the high winds - know that no two people will have the same experience and that you may have good weather and animal sighting or you may not

We had exceptional weather (our guide even said the most rare thing we saw was the top of the mountain range) and it made for a great trip. We saw sea otters, mountain goats (from afar), harbor seals, bald eagles, jellyfish, and were able to follow a pod of orcas for an hour! Our guide was amazing - she was able to help us identify the pods and tell us their story - as well as she had great knowledge of the area, history and all the wildlife we saw.
