Came here on a Friday night! It was a little confusing, bc there are 2 separate buildings called Albaghdady in the same vicinity, but I think one is a store and then one is the actual restaurant. I have driven by this place so many times because it's right across the street from the Chinatown strip in Richardson, and I have been meaning to try it! A few friends and I met up here for lunch, and it was nice to see that they had opened a full sit-down restaurant. The ambience was very casual and the restaurant seems like it is family owned. We ordered a starter platter (with hummus, baba ghanoush and two other dips) and it came with a GIANT fresh pita. It was probably at least twice the size of my head and it was so delicious. I then ordered the mixed meat plate, which came with beef kebab and grilled lamb cubes on a plate of rice. The meat was grilled to perfection and well seasoned. Finally, we ended our meal with a box of baklava. They had many different kinds and all were amazing. I definitely will be back in the future. I think next time I would love to try the beef shawarma and I plan on getting more baklava! read more

This restaurant is one of my favorites. Their beef swarma is so good it's totally crave-able and to die for. They should bottle the sauce on that sandwich and sell it. I come soemtimes just for the sandwich because I really think it's one of the most delicious sandwiches in the DFW. their other sandwiches are also good. I've tried them all. Their plates ...... are also amazing. The grilled veggies with the meat, rice, and bread is a winning combo. A full platter can be shared by two adults. Don't forget dessert at this place either. Beautiful interior, helpful employees, reasonable prices. My go-to order is a falafel sandwich with fried eggplant on samoon bread which is baked there. Samoon is a boat shaped loaf and my sandwich is big enough for 2 meals. I like mine with extra pickles. Add seasoned fries and a canned drink or bottle water for a small upcharge. They also run the bakery across the way which has many sweet selections and breads. I hope people will try this great small business. read more

Instead of a plastic takeaway container now they put a small portion in a foam box, which of course, leaked. Little things like that made it not so great visit. read more

My Iraqi wife and her family were all excited to come here as it's specifically styled towards Iraqi cuisine, but we were all overwhelmingly dissapointed at multiple points through the experience. It started off on a good note; their complimentary lentil soup was hot and flavor-wise probably one of the best lentil soups I've had, but that's just about where any good notes can be taken. The service was lacking to practically non-existent the whole night. We never received any water, had to beg them for any plates or utensils to serve the meat with, and what service we did get the server was extremely short and unhappy the entire time. I'm not asking someone to be fake, but it really seemed like no one there gave a single care about the customer, and I have seen multiple reviews from months ago saying the same, so this must be also coming from ownership that isn't taking charge of ensuring their employees are providing good service. Next... the food. We ordered the 6 person family meal and after waiting a considerable time, when the rice, meat, and bread came out every single one was luke-warm to cold at best; and the rice legitimately seemed to have been microwaved. Again, all of this is on top of the fact that we had to beg our servers for even the most basic of things that are just simply standard at any normal resturaunt. I work in the hospitality/service industry myself so this isn't coming from someone who was being overly demanding. read more

There smaller location sells desserts mainly. There bigger location sells food. We loved the dishes we ordered and there bread is absolutely amazing. They give bread and hummus , babaganoush and spicy sauce plate for every table and we loved it. The breads are huge and taste so good. There babaganoush is well made. There kabobs are good too. Food is almost delicious. They still need to get a hold of the kitchen and there are many ppl working there but I guess they don't have a specify role to each one of them. The Falafel with Eggplant sandwich may be the best vegetarian sandwich in DFW. "Really?" you might say -- "falafel?" YES. The falafel themselves were super hot and delicious, having clearly just come out of the fryer. Not too dry (a pet peeve of mine when it comes to falafel) and perfectly married with the eggplant. The bread is somehow firm yet soft, crunchy yet chewable. But the main character/superstar/standout role in this sandwich is the pickle/vegetable relish. Honestly transformed this sandwich into a heavenly experience, one that made me immediately announce to my boyfriend that he HAD to try it, and then immediately regret that decision because it meant one less bite for myself. Driving by on a Saturday around 5pm we spotted this place and decided to grab dinner. Even though they said the kitchen was closed, they offered a vegetarian platter. We were hungry and so we said Yes! And we are sooo happy we did! Surprised a tray came out covered with a giant pita. That pita was so fresh and delicious on its own. The vegetable platter was amazing, stuffed veggies, pickled veggies... so good. Be sure to get there early! I've been coming to Albaghdady for years and years and so glad to see that they've finally opened up a sit down restaurant. I absolutely love their breads and desserts, and they've always been so kind enough to accommodate my allergies. We made reservations for about 10 ppl and kids on a Sunday. This place is so family friendly, and large enough to accommodate a big group. We all ordered various dishes, and the food did take a long time to come. But, we entertained ourselves and really enjoyed the food when it did some. They made appropriate substitutions because we did have several ppl with food allergies and no one had any issues. This is not a place for a quick bite, we saw one family get agitated that food was taking a while and left. This is such a shame! Not all cultures have a hurried attitude when it comes to preparing food and service for a Sunday meal, and I appreciated this because our big group never felt rushed. read more

I went here for the first time to dine-in and the experience was not good. Food was good but the prices are on the expensive side. The reason why our experience was not good is because of the poor and impatient attitude of the server. I found the main owner (bald, old, big) to be very friendly and sweet. Unfortunately, his son (short, bearded, well built), maybe the manager, has no patience at all. He gave us two different menus. One was old with pretty much the same items as the new menu but had labels on the prices and manually corrected with the new prices. Both menus are confusing and poorly written. Doesn't say clearly what each plate/items comes with. When we started to ask the questions about the menu items, the son becomes frustrated and agitated. It was also hard to understand him as he was talking fast with heavy Arabic accent. Since he was huffing and puffing we just ended up ordering in a hurry. Of course when our order came it was not what we wanted. We just ate and left as soon as we could. The son definitely need to understand what a good customer is. read more

Really glad we finally tried this place. They have a smaller shop next to this sit in restaurant. The interior is nice with authentic decor. Makes the ambiance great. They have desserts they make in house that are available behind a section of the restaurant and you can choose what you want. They blend fresh fruit juices which was nice as well. The menu had a good amount of options on it and we actually enjoyed what we ordered. We got a kabob platter which was good for all of us. The server was helpful with explaining items on the menu we didn't know what they were. He was helpful with suggestions and was attentive to us. The portion seemed a little small for what we were expecting, but it is what it is and our server explained the amount of food that would be coming out for each item. Overall it was a good experience and the food was good. Sometimes you just can't put your finger on something to explain or understand, but there was something missing in the experience. Saw an elderly gentleman walking to his customers that frequent the place with a warm greeting. Very welcoming. Quaint and beautiful decor all over the walls. They have a prayer place inside the restaurant as well. Service was excellent and attentive. Chef walked by and checked on us about the food. Phenomenal taste! A sketchy, run down shack that serves some of the best middle eastern desserts Ive had in DFW (and maybe even across America). Sometimes it's a luck of the draw with when food comes out fresh. I had the pleasure of ordering a slice of the cheese kanaffa as it came straight out of the oven. 10 minutes later I got to eat it and I could have stayed there forever. In an almost transcendent experience, I was lifted out my feet from the power of this hot, melted cheese, pistachios, salt and honey. If you have the pleasure of getting this hot and fresh, try to do so. The jalebi (zalabia) is so much better when its fresh in house. That soaked honey taste that rushes through your tongue has an overwhelming sensation that swells into pure ecstasy. There was also this lovely crunchy hollow texture that must be rationed or you will go into food coma. The shish tawook and the pistachio baklava were amazing! The samoon (Iraqi bread) was delicious and soft. You could taste the lemon in the chicken. It contrasted well with the vegetables. The vegetables in the shish tawook were a mix of pickled and regular vegetables. The pistachio baklava was sold by the pound, but I only ordered two.
