Great worksmanship and value here! I was hit and run with major damage by my front fender - paint was scraped off in an area the size of a quarter, and the metal was crumpled. It was $3200 for a full replacement of the fender. The owner said he could also do a not new but not bad looking repair of the existing fender for $300-400. I went for the lower cost option - if you didn't know what to look for you wouldn't notice anything wrong! He even had the exact right color of paint already in the shop. Lee and his crew are AWESOME! I had an unfortunate incident involving my SUV, some roof-mounted bicycles, and an overhang that I momentarily forgot existed. I decided to do most of the repair work myself to try and save some cash, but had a pulled rivnut in the roof that I couldn't fix without specialized tools. I called Lee and he told me to come by the same day and he'd look at it. When I get there, he offers me several options ranging in price for the repair. I let him know I'm trying to save money and do it myself and am not concerned with the cosmetics as it will be covered by the new rack. He has me pull in his shop RIGHT THEN, gets his buddy with the grey beard (didn't catch his name), they haul out their tools and fix it ON THE SPOT, all while having the kind of casual automotive banter you'd expect from folks who have spent a lifetime in this industry. And then he charges me *almost nothing* for the repair. I couldn't be happier. I was able to drive home and complete the repairs on the same day! I would not recommend Albany Body Shop to my worst enemy. I went there to have my auto repaired after another driver hit my car. Rick told me that Geico sent an inferior fender part to them and suggested that he would order a better fender part which would cost me approximatell $130.00. I called geico to clarify. They insisted the part they originally sent was in perfectly good condition. I did not need to pay $130.00 out of my own pocket to Albany Body Shop. I tried to clear this with Rick. His reply to me was rude, nasty, and aggressive.I wondered was he pissed off because I am a strong Latina woman who questioned his work ethics. Not pretty. read more

You know, I thought the days of local businesses being honest, going above and beyond, and doing good to earn good will and future business were gone. The folks at Albany Body Shop thankfully proved me wrong. We went in after an "unfortunate parking lot incident" left our car with some pretty nasty scratches on one of the doors. The estimate discussion was pretty much that we could just bring them some patch paint from the dealer, who'd have a better match, and avoid the cost and hassle of a much more expensive effort for a lot more money. So, we go get the patch paint and bring the car in early in the morning. We got a call back within a couple of hours. The work on the 7 year old car looked just fine, and while not factory-perfect blended in and was hardly noticeable. I go for the credit card to pay what we'd been quoted, and they gentleman there says, "Nah, you don't owe anything. Come back when you have a real problem to solve." All said with a big smile. To say we were surprised was an understatement! There's not many businesses who think about customer relations this way, and of course I know where we're going if we have more major body work in the future. We cannot say enough good things about Lee and Rick at Albany Body Shop. First off, they immediately helped us with a quote that could be provided to our insurance company for our 30 year old Toyota pickup that was hit by an uninsured motorist (we had a very strong sentimental value for the pickup, having bought it brand new 30 years prior). Next they worked diligently on gathering the parts far and wide to repair our truck, communicating with us the progress all the way. During the process, they helped us get the most out of our insurance company that was due to us for the repairs. Lastly, the repair job was GREAT and the costs were extremely reasonable. Story time! My wife and I have had our venerable 1986 Toyota Camry for a LONG time. It has been well-tended, but has also suffered numerous break-ins , theft attempts and other damages. Many non-critical things either don't work anymore or are broken and probably irreparable. However, it still runs great and we love it. The last few months have been rough as we've both been in-between jobs, and my wife has been trying to get a personal decluttering business off the ground. Having a car is essential to this goal. Things were going great until a few days when she got hit by a distracted driver at a four way stop. No injuries, thank goodness, and we're still waiting on the liability determination of our insurance claim. But we had a more immediate and literally pressing problem: the right rear passenger door and wheel well had been pushed in deep enough to flare out the metal so that it ground against the tire if the car hit any bump or made any turn. We NEEDED the car because we don't have the scratch to get a new or used replacement at the moment. After finding out from our insurance company that repairing this damage to make the car operable wouldn't affect our claim, we started to look around for a place that could do the work without breaking our already limited budget. Albany Body Shop is conveniently located just one block from our apartment, so we decided to stop by and inquire. Rick greeted us warmly and was SO positive and encouraging. He was very matter-of-fact about what needed to happen and anticipated a quick turnaround at a price that music to our ears and wallet! We dropped the car off in late in the afternoon and it was ready the next morning! We weren't expecting it until later in the day. A further happy surprise was Rick telling us that he also had fix the front right wheel well. It had been dented years ago, and the door always rubbed when opened and made quite the screeching sound. Rick said he couldn't stand it, so he fixed it at no charge! Our total cost was actually a little less than his initial estimate! Our week and our mood did a complete 180 thanks to the kindness and generosity of Rick and owner Lee. Both men also further offered to research obtaining certain parts for our old car which I'd had difficulty finding online. I've never been more happy to support local business than I am today. Because of the superb folks at Albany Body Shop, we can still get around as we usually do and my wife can continue to work with her new clients. Handshakes and thank you's just didn't feel like enough to me, so I got a box of goodies from Lavender bakery for the entire shop. Rick, my man. If he ever reads this rating, I'm 100% sure he'll know who I am. I went to this bodyshop about... 3 times in the last year! ( I am not a bad driver, all 3 were hit-and-runs on my parked car ). Before this whole pandemic happened, he would greet you with the firmest of handshakes and a smile bigger than the moon. He will run you through the entire process, from insurance to calling a ride home. He is really familiar with the surrounding area so he even called a rental car company to pick me up.The crew outside of him, they are all super friendly as well! Back when I had my first visit, I was pretty low on income so that hit-and-run was a really big bummer. Of course insurance helped me out but I feel like this place helped me out even more. They fixed things that could be fixed in-house and only replaced parts that were really needed, which drove the cost down on my car. I know times are pretty rough, so if you do get in an accident *knock on wood* this place is perfect. Staff was courteous, efficient, gave me a range of options for dealing with the damage to my car and didn't try to talk me into over-spending. (If anything, I'd say they down-sold me.)
