I'd love if they added Adirondack merch too though. Lots of seating, Adirondack-style chairs to stretch your legs out on if you're taking a break from driving. There is also a kids playground and a dog area as well as a small area for everyone else to walk around. Overall, it was a great and easy stop!

The structure is beautiful and looked like a barn; it was nicely decorated and showcased Vermont as a whole. The restrooms were large and clean; they had changing tables which was a plus. They had a large patio area with many seats. There was even a playground. Parking was plentiful. We went in September around 6:30 pm and outside near the playground, there were a ton of mosquitos. We had to run out of there lol. Overall, it's a great spot to stop and stretch your legs if you're in the area.

It…read moresits right where Beach Road meets Canada Street, smack in the middle of the village, and feels like the beating heart of this place packed with lake fever and Adirondack charm. The first thing you notice inside is how friendly everyone is. You can grab brochures for boat tours, hiking, ice cream spots, even fireworks schedules, and they really seem to enjoy pointing out what might make your trip special. There is an interactive map that breaks down the lake and the surrounding region, plus displays summarizing local history and attractions throughout Warren County. That mix of information and welcome makes you feel like you are being handed the keys to the Adirondacks instead of a stack of paper. The restrooms tucked behind the center are a nice touch if you have been walking the boardwalk or coming off the beach. Perhaps not the cleanest you';; ever experience, especially during peak times, but never at the "any port in a storm" level, either. This winter the Lake George Winter Carnival used the Visitor Center as its headquarters instead of their usual spot off the beach at Sheppard Park, and it worked surprisingly well. Volunteers were in throughout the day hosting a hot chocolate bar, running the Sunday Sundae bar, selling Carnival souvenirs, and helping people navigate maps and schedules. With the brutal cold that joined us for our visit last weekend, having an excuse for an indoor respite was a nice option to have. It gave the place a lively community feel that made you glad you stopped in. In a town full of sights and things to do, the Visitor Center manages to be a reliably pleasant stop. You get solid advice, a bit of local flavor, enough history to feel enriched and a sense of where to go next. Five stars for being such a nice hub of information and good will.

Work and the world are once again conspiring against me so I took to the natural world to heal. Two…read moreweeks prior, I decided to take up creek fishing and bought rods and tackle thinking that'd be a relaxing hobby. A half a day fishing and a half a day exploring and set up a click below the fly fisherman under the tressel and watched him pull one in after the next. So I stopped fishing and found the water that feeds the creeks which comes off the mountains and I heard the Catskill average between 50 and 60 inches a year of rainfall. I dropped that early rain data number here so I can feel, just for a moment that I'm kinda smart and stuff. Actually, the fine folks at Greene County visitors center dropped that on me earlier in the year. So as I'm walking the shoots sipping on an Ascension pilsner (Catskill Brewery) pup-a-lup in tow, I'm watching the trees sway too and fro as the wind was blowing with voracious gusts. I set my fishing gear again and reread the water, watching those little fast eddys where the Brook Trout like to wait behind a rock, the easiest place to snag food, but no nibbles - not the Shad, Striped Bass, Walleye nor the Herring - all indigenous fishies. But the trees are watching me and I can tell they feel my love of all natural things, it exudes from every pore and I smile at the happy Hemlock with respect to say "I'm in your world and I'll leave it better than I found it". The Beech and Birch liked this answer and whispered to the Maple that humanoid embraces the Creeks code of honor and respect - not so sure about that big thing on four legs accompanying him tho. I did receive what I came for which is to say that the coolness to ease my mind, my body and my soul rolled over me and took me away and it won't be long till we meet again.

Opting to go non GPS, I fumbled with my 1970s AAA map that had the browning creases and the broken…read morerubber band which I located in my attic. I didn't throw the dart which always brings me places, I wanted to be sure I was in the mountains, we went North East topside of the Catskills, we wanted to walk Washington Irving's books takes, to see the greens from Douglas Fir to mighty oaks, the silvertip mountain tops and the changing of the leaves. Inside the visitors center, there was Rip, staff in hand, hand me down galligasketts, good natured smile and his walking stick -- there to greet as were Heather and Nancy. Taking bowls of fresh water to the big dog who slipped down like a ranch horse nose deep in the trough they doted upon him, giving love with meaningful strokes and words of tenderness - the big mush was loving it so. Spinny spinny spinny, they spun the brochure carousel like a spinning top, plucking out appropriate endeavors for me. Clicking the pen and put to paper, they wrote and edited to reflect current days and times and where it's shaking out come the weekend. As many miles big road hound and I have traveled, to where the road never ends, these two fine ladies were the watermark set above and beyond all prior - to be sure.

Overall, this stop felt pretty underwhelming compared to other gorges around this area. The bridge…read morewas under renovation, but you could still walk across it. Even so, I'm not sure it would have made a big difference since you don't really get a clear view of the gorge unless you lean over a not-so-cute metal fence, and there are no photo opportunities if you want you and the gorge in the same pic. It really feels like there should be a trail or viewing area closer to the gorge itself. The visitor center is small but cute, with a little museum and a small gift shop, which was nice to briefly check out. Overall, I'd say it's not really worth the stop if you already have a packed itinerary. If you do go, the best approach is honestly just to walk across the bridge quickly and take a look from there, but I'd skip the trail. I am glad it's on protected land though and that it is being maintained so well. It just is an odd spot to have such large hype.

They offer a couple of tours daily at the mountain summit. Overall, not a bad summit considering that it's New England. I'm accustomed to 14rs where I live. Park is clean. People heavy depending upon what time of day and year you visit. I visited on 4th of July weekend. It wasn't as people heavy as expected. The drive up from the main roadway is really nice. Beautiful area! I would visit this park for another opportunity if I'm ever in the area again.

She tenderly read the menu to him for the day and talked with him about signing up. Then she asked if I was a visitor and pointed out a few fun things to do. She also walked me through the museum. The museum tells the story of the local ski race. We picked up a number of pamphlets. Don't forget to sign the guest book.
