The service is fast, without sacrificing the quality of the food. While I love everything I've eaten there, I'm quite partial to the Grape Leaves and their Hummus. I have been coming here for years and love the food. Today my husband and I decided to just share a meal and we were charged a fee for Sharing. I will never return. Why would someone charge you for sharing a meal? Very disappointing. Had they told me this I would have ordered an appetizer instead of losing the money. They just lost a customer. read more

Maybe better than 3 stars, definitely better than OK. Been a couple of times and really enjoyed. Wonderful gyros. Had the Gyro platter once but the gyro sandwich was plenty and the kids gyro plate is more than sufficient. Prices are reasonable. Good Lebanese Iced Tea (personally would like it with pine nuts but that's not a knock at what i had). I will give a more detailed review when we've been a few more times and tried more items on the menu. One menu suggestion I would like to see is a sampler appetizer of a variety of items. There are platters for two or three but that was a bit more than we were looking for in a sampler appetizer. We went with 2 kids (2 1/2 and 1). We had no problems with the kids from restaurant and the 2yp like gyros and the 1yo is happy with a chuck of bread. We also went early, better for kids and for the later crowd. Easy parking, decent decor and really wonderful food. Some of the staff can be a bit gruff, but not rude. I have yet to eat something here that I didn't absolutely love. Extra tip--order the hummus appetizer "to go" when you leave and mix a couple of generous spoonfuls into the meat the next time you make hamburgers. SO much yummy zazz! Best burgers EVER. read more

Best gyro I've ever had! I used to get the chicken gyro because I didn't think I would like the lamb. I decided to give the lambe gyro a try and it's absolutely delicious. You really have to give it a try. I also think their fries are some of the best I have ever had. read more

Today's lunch was the Alfredo Penne Pasta with Chicken and the Spinach Pie app. Let's start off with the app shall we. I am not sure what is on the inside other than spinach. There seems to be a small amount of feta mixed with the spinach but it is pretty much non existent. This is wrapped in philo and baked to crispy perfection. You receive 2 per order with lemon wedges and tzatziki sauce for dipping. I would love for the flavor of the feta to be amped up but otherwise a great little app. On to the main event! I am not a huge fan of Lebanese food. OMG, there, I said it! Lol! But I do like a few things. Whenever we get Albasha, I always go for the Alfredo Penne Pasta. You can choose from chicken, gyro, or shrimp. I love, love, love the chicken! It is thinly sliced chicken shwarma that they lay on top of your pasta. It is sooooo good! The pasta was al dente and it was drenched in this super creamy cheesy sauce. Every once in a while you will come across a little nugget that is a chopped sun dried tomato. I am always looking for more nuggets. This dish is so satisfying and so filling that I can never finish it. This makes my hubby happy since he gets the left overs! This is definitely a must try. Albasha Greek & Lebanese Restaurant 1958 N Highway 190, Covington LA 70433. Well this is not a place that I will be returning to. The food was mediocre, but the the service was very lacking. George ordered a feta cheese appetizer, which arrived with pita bread. The feta was supposed to be fried and warm, it was not. The pita bread was supposed to be fresh and warm, it felt like a cracker, not bread at all. To top it off there were no napkins or silverware. Silverware did not arrive after the entrees were delivered. we had to ask for silverware after all the food was delivered. Poor service. We also had to ask to fill up our sweet tea twice. I ordered the lamb chops, edible, but they did not ask me how I wanted it prepared, well-medium-rare, so it came out whatever. The salad was on the same plate as the rice. I am accustomed to the salad being brought out first and the meal second, both were delivered together. The lamb was cool not warm when served, and very rare. Girlfriend had the beef stuffed vegetables, the only problem is that the menu did not say that there was rice with the meat, and there was three times more rice than meat, so it should have been rice-stuffed vegetables. Other friend ordered the Gyro dinner. More side stuff than Gyros, matter of fact, very little Gyros. The best part of his dinner was the beer, problem was they did not have the Greek beer that he ordered, so he settled for the other foreign beer they had on the menu (Almaza) THREE thumbs down read more

Having grown up mostly eating Mediterranean food from the likes of Byblos and Mona's on the south shore, this place just doesn't do it for me. I've tried it a few times and it is hard to put my finger on exactly what I don't love but it kind of seems watered-down, if that makes any sense. Maybe less authentic than I expect. It's not terrible and in a pinch if I'm really craving falafel then I'll pick it up but I'm never quite satisfied. We were seated quickly and a server was quick to take our order. Our food was extremely quick to come out and that's because it was pre made and sitting there. Was here for lunch and it was a little packed but I was by myself so I set up at the bar. Bartender was quick to greet and get my drink order. Orderes the steak and chicken swarma plates. Came in a flash. It was very tasty came. with hummus, rice, and a salad and of course flat bread both the chicken and steak where cooked and seasoned very well. Have always enjoyed Mediterranean food, used to visit the one close to where I lived. I usually have the gyro place off of the lunch menu but decided to try the lamb kebab, I make my own shish kebab so I was looking forward to this. I am afraid that this meal had a very strong taste of liver, which I really dislike. I know this business is frequented by local businessmen but it is beginning to feel like a conveyor belt. The Fried Cheese makes this place worth the visit. It's made with haloom cheese. It's very flavorful. The Mediterranean Hummus was lacking flavor. I had the Combination Chicken Shwarma and Gyro plate. Sadly the chicken was dry and the Gyro meat was just average. My partner had the Lamb Shank plate, which she enjoyed. Delicious perfectly prepared food! We ate outside on the patio. My friends loved the variety of the vegetarian plate. Some of everything! I had the lamb kebob. Tender and cooked to order. It was a generous portion with rice pilaf, spinach and feta salad and hummus. Couldn't finish it. I had the fresh-squeezed lemonade which I liked. I saw tiramisu on the menu but we can't fit it in. My family and I always eat at Albasha at least once every two weeks. The place is clean with friendly service and the food there tastes amazing. The chicken kabob, Gyro plate, or even the Chicken shawarma is our favorite. With these entrees we either get a choice of salad with greek dressing which is unlike any other or hummus and rice pilaf. The hummus is delicious, I don't think these entrees would taste as good without hummus. The pilaf with the Arabic nuts is my husbands favorite. The meal prices are very affordable between $10 to $13 dollars. I have tried other restaurants but this place beats all the other Greek restaurants by far. We love this place.
