When my insurance…read morechanged I decided to leave Distinctive Dental try out a different dental practice closer to my house which was a big mistake. The other dentist (NOT distinctive) did a filling that they not only trapped blood behind, but also left a massive amount of excess composite that went passed where the tooth meets the gum and essentially made a spear slicing into the inside of my cheek. I could fit a fingernail between the excess material and the gum above my tooth. I was in a ton of pain from the resulting ulcer on my cheek and the headache from dental pain. I called distinctive and was able to get an appointment very quickly. While Dr. Kim and the assistant remained incredibly professional, they seemed surprised and were very empathetic that I was left with a filling in the condition I was. They ensured I was fully educated on my options and involved me in the creation of the treatment plan. At the first appointment they removed the excess material to ease my pain and allow the soft tissues to heal. When I went back for the repair, we had initially thought a crown was necessary, but Dr. Kim was able to successfully repair with a new filling. They could've said the significantly more expensive crown was still necessary and I wouldn't have known better, but they chose better care over making money. The procedure itself was also miles better than my experience with the other dentist--the other office had forcefully pulled my cheek away as far as possible in an attempt to access the affected back molar, while Dr. Kim gave me instructions on how to hold my jaw so he could see. He also checked in frequently to ensure I was doing okay. He also took multiple photos throughout the process so I could actually see what he was talking about, and the before and after difference was night and day. TLDR: incredibly kind and compassionate staff that truly puts patient care over profit and ensure the patient is fully informed and involved in their treatment plan. I highly recommend!

I was the one call them back asking antibiotic prescription ( amoxicillin). The doctor prioritized selling an implant over treating patient's pain. 2. The deep cleaning was supposed to take two hours , but it only last one hour and missed several teeth. 3. My insurance denied the full mouth x ray because the dental office failed to submit a clinical note or narrative proving medical necessity.

If only I could leave zero stars. I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn future…read morepatients. I was verbally quoted $187 to have a veneer re-cemented and agreed to treatment based on that price. At no point during my appointment was I informed of an ADDITIONAL $117 evaluation fee. (I even texted my Husband during the appointment telling him that the price was $187. I'll attach the screenshot of our conversation for reference.) To my surprise, that charge only appeared later when I received a bill for $304. When I contacted the office immediately, Stacey was unprofessional, extremely rude, and so dismissive. The lack of accountability and transparency is SHOCKING. She repeatedly deflected the issue by emphasizing my 'limited' insurance coverage in such a condescending & demeaning tone which was irrelevant because insurance was never the issue. The only issue was the verbal quote I was given vs what I was billed. Most concerning, after the dispute was reported - the office responded to the Washington State Attorney General, Stacey lied and presented her version of events that just wasn't true to what actually happened, while also claiming the additional fee had been quoted to ME over the phone before the appointment... First of all, that call was not even with ME. it was with my husband. and no such price was ever given. (I was in the background, listening to their conversation on speaker while tending to my toddler.) Anyway long story short... Despite being CLEAR that I was willing to pay the $187 I was quoted, the office refused to resolve the issue and escalated the balance to collections while it was still in active dispute. This entire situation could have been avoided with honest, upfront pricing and clear communication. It's especially disappointing because Dr. Bowyer - the actual dentist - was great! He was kind & very thorough during my appt! We totally would've made him our family dentist. (I even texted my husband *see screenshot attached* that I liked the office and we could stick to it since we're new to the area.) But unfortunately, the office manager on the other hand needs improvement with communication and how patients are treated. Had I been told my total would be $304, there would have been no issue. Get everything IN WRITING before agreeing to treatment here. As for me, after the office "manager" treated me the way she did & ruining my experience, I will never come back here again.
