Wow! I was looking for somewhere that did the cheese wheel, wife's request, and I'm glad this place was recommended. Small, quaint, authentic, family, quiet-ish, intimate, outstanding, I could probably keep going but let me get to the food. Not a ton of seating so I would highly recommend a reservation. We started with a bottle of wine that we brought (BYOB), a basket of bread, and the Burrata salad app. They were prefect. I followed with the Caesar Salad and asked to add anchovies. The salad was amazing, dressing was creamy, egg based, and delicious. Omg, I'm still thinking about it. For entrees my wife had the Cheese Wheel, served table side, not just a fun novelty, it was excellent. I have never in 14 years seen her eat that much pasta and that fast. Our guests also ordered it as an app and raved about it. I had the pork chop entree, fantastic! The demi glace sauce with caramelized onions and panchetta, sweet carrots, creamy potatoes... so good. My husband and I dined here for the first time and it was wonderful. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very intimate. I recommend making a reservation as seating is limited. Our server was incredibly friendly and made sure we enjoyed our meals and visit. Portions are large and you can taste the authenticity. We had driven over an hour to meet family there for dinner and did not get our main courses until almost 9:30 . The restaurant was a sauna inside. The fan was set to 81 degrees. We were baking. My family came here recently for a celebration. It was our first time here and it came highly recommended by my supervisor. So rather than going to one of our old staples, we decided to try a new place. We absolutely made a great call. The dimly lit restaurant seats about 30 or so and brings you back to a lovey Italian home with pictures and cross-stitch on the walls. It's definitely a family-run restaurant with mama making the rounds to make sure all is going well, poppa in the kitchen, daughter as wait staff with all the stories, and I'm sure there's others. Our eyes and ears were bigger than our stomachs today and we had plenty of leftovers for additional meals. We shared our appetizers and tried each other's mains and desserts. We were more than full. We had appetizers of the Caesar salad, eggplant Parmesan (special for today), the vegetable burrata, and the artichoke. Wow, wow, wow, and wow. The salad had the best light dressing that you couldn't tell had anchovies within but it did. The eggplant was lightly fried and had some really good gravy. My wife said she could eat 10lbs of it. The veggie burrata had a great drizzle of balsamic and the burrata itself was so creamy. It wasn't runny like I've had with other burrata. We also ordered the focaccia bread which came first. A wonderful bread with some olive oil. We were about to order a second one but glad we didn't. For our mains, we had two pastas. One was a rigatoni with pancetta crumble in a butter sauce, the other was a special of fettuccine in a mushroom sauce with shrimp. That was just divine. Some of the best pasta we've ever had. The three colossal sized shrimp were delicious. Our server said that not only is everything homemade, but many ingredients are imported all the way from Italy. Does it make a difference? We think it does! Even if it was just psychological, we were very happy with these dishes. We also ordered two servings of the Berkshire double-boned pork chop. This is a house speciality and saw plenty of tables being served this two inch thick piece of meat with a nice glaze and some mashed potatoes with carrots. We savored a little of each and took the rest of this outstanding dish home for another meal the next day. Had to cut off a hunk for my kid to take with her. Of course we had to go for dessert even though we were already full. We had the special blueberry cannoli, box cake (which is a chocolate/vanilla custard with Graham cracker crumble), and a "chocolate lava" cake with vanilla gelato. The cannoli flavor took me back to Maine and all the blueberry festivals I've been to. The filling was not heavy at all. I wasn't a fan of the lava cake but my wife loved it. The vanilla gelato was admittedly not made in-house but was quite good. We also had some of the strongest cappuccino I've ever had. Maybe a little more cream, please? Overall, we were so impressed and happy with Albertino's. On Wednesdays I'm told the place gets packed for the tableside pasta with the large cheese wheel. I bet it's quite the spectacle. We're going to be making a return. BYOB here, and everyone had their favorite whites and reds on the table. They surcharge 3% if you pay with a credit card, so save some money by bringing cash. It's street parking and you pay by app. Our meal came to $265 not including tip for bread, four appetizers, four mains, three desserts, and two cappuccinos. Albertino's is a must make reservation! This meal easily falls in the top 5 I've ever had and I don't make that claim lightly. It's been a couple of years since we've dined at Albertino's and I'm not quite sure why because we loved it so much at our first visit. We decided to make reservations for New Year's Eve this year as my fiancé's parents have been wanting to try it. The NYE menu was pre-fixed at $100 per person and everybody was able to choose an appetizer, a pasta, an entree, and a dessert. Many of their signature dishes were included as options such as the Carciofi alla Romana Giudea (Jewish Style Artichokes), Costoletta di Maiale (double bone-in Berkshire style pork chops), and Cacio E Pepe served in their famous and popular cheese wheel. All of which are absolute MUST orders. The restaurant is small and reservations are a must regardless of the day, but it's very cozy and homey inside. I love the decor and the walls almost make it look like you're dining in an old building in Italy. There were two separate seatings (we chose the later one) and we never once felt rushed. The entire experience was relaxing and the courses were spaced out perfectly allowing for time to enjoy our food and company. The service was impeccable as each staff member we interacted with was professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Albertino's is BYOB which is a major plus. We were started with house made focaccia and an antipasto that consisted of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and olives. For our appetizer, my fiancé and I decided to order the fried calamari and artichokes with the intentions of splitting both, and her parents did the same. Great decision on our part as the calamari was very tender and lightly fried to perfection. As I mentioned before, the artichokes are a must order. Also tender and beautifully presented. They're served on a plate with olive oil perfect for dipping bread in. The entire table chose another one of the most order dishes at Albertino's, the table side Cacio E Pepe, which is typically offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We all loved it and it was even better than I remember it being the first time I had it. The spaghetti was Al dente, it was creamy and cheesey, and the freshly ground black pepper added a perfect finishing touch. Just when you thought dinner couldn't get any better than the artichokes and Cacio e Pepe, Albertino's presents us with the stars of the show. The absolute BEST pork chop and Bronzino we've ever had. A double bone-in Berkshire-style pork chop that had a to-die-for crust and was melt in your mouth tender. I was speechless and don't know if I'll ever be able to look at any pork chop the same again. I asked my fiancé to describe what she loved about her Bronzino and she said: the outer crust was great but it was soft, juicy, and tender underneath, it was seasoned very nicely, and was finished with a refreshing lemon/citrusy flavor. Miraculously, we still had room for dessert. My fiancé's dad and I both got the grilled peaches in a brandy brown sugar reduction, my fiancé got the double chocolate ganache cake, and her mom had the tiramisu. I'd venture to say the peaches are another must order as I've had them before and loved them both times. I'm neither a peach fan nor a dessert fan but they're just too good to pass up. Everybody enjoyed their dessert which I wouldn't have expected differently judging by the quality of the rest of the meal. I can't believe it's been over two years since we've dined at Albertino's. I caught a feature on Fox 29 a few weeks ago and made a reservation for Albertino's. I have been trying to catch a place with the famous Cacio e Pepe "Cheese Wheel." My luck didn't allow it until Wednesday, 11/27. We had a 5:00 pm reservation and entered the establishment around 4:50. We were the first diners there, so we had a short wait. We were seated and greeted by our waitress. She shared the history of the restaurant and advised that Albertino's was a family run establishment. Her dad was the head chef, sister was the sous chef and mom made all of the desserts. Needless to say we were excited for our experience. We started with the buffalo mozzarella. It was one of the specials. The mozzarella was stuffed with crab meat, capers, and topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. For entrees, I went with the Cacio e Pepe and my partner had the famous pork chop. Our appetizer arrived promptly and we devoured it. The crab and mozzarella were delicious. The capers and vinaigrette paired perfectly with the cheese and crab. Next up, our entrees. The cheese wheel was pulled up to our table and we got to see how the dish came to be. I enjoyed the experience and couldn't wait to taste the dish. At first glance you would think the pasta would be heavy, it wasn't. The fresh pepper and cream were so airy and light. The pasta and sauce were flavorful. I didn't think my plate would be so full, but it was. My partners pork chop was massive. I asked for a piece and it was juicy, tender, packed with flavor and just simply delicious. He didn't have much to say bc he was too busy enjoying his dinner. Full disclosure - I haven't been able to make a reservation and THAT is the reason for the 1 star - because I can't give a zero. To make a reservation, you have to put in your cell phone number - not a problem as I do it with Resy all the time. HOWEVER, the confirmation SMS never arrived, I tried several times across several days. No luck. I also emailed the restaurant and received NO ANSWER. 2 weeks later, still no response to my email but I now see that they have a "reservations temporarily down, please call" notice up. I may try again but then again, with so many other restaurants to choose from - is Albertino's worth the effort? Based on the other Yelp reviews, Albertino's is either great or dismal. We wanted to try it based on a recommendation from Saverio at JuneBYOB who said Albertino's "is fantastic". I'll try again in a couple weeks - and I will update this review at that time. I was looking forward to our reservation at this seemingly beloved, family owned restaurant. We love to support small business and I really thought this would be the first visit of many. The hostess was kind, and she seated us promptly. From there, the rest of the night went downhill -- fast. First, our server did not greet us for nearly 15 minutes. She introduced herself as a daughter of the owner, went over the menu and said she would be back. We asked to put in our appetizer order because we were famished. And off she went. We didn't see her for another 10 minutes. She had no recollection of our appetizer order, so we placed our order again. She started walking away while we were still ordering. We were surrounded by other tables with servers who were friendly, engaging and checked in with their guests often. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. Our server visited our table exactly four times; once to greet us and take our appetizer order, a second time to take our order (and our appetizer order again), the third to drop the check and the fourth to take our credit card. As for the food, my entree was dropped to the table 15-20 minutes before my husband's table side meal was served. By the time his meal was served, my food was ice cold. He enjoyed his table side pasta prepared in the legendary cheese wheel. My dinner was collected from the table mostly untouched and no one asked whether everything was okay. Not the experience we expected. And while I firmly believe in second chances, we were also charged a mandatory gratuity on our check, despite being a party of two -- restaurant policy states parties of five or more are charged a gratuity on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The food here was great and the staff was super friendly but I wouldn't go here if you don't have 3 plus hours worth of time. Our reservation was at 8, it took an hour to get our appetizers, the table next to us sat down well after we did and got the same appetizer we did and they got theirs way before us, we have a huge family so we're used to waiting since it's a lot more people to accommodate, but still it's not like we ordered more of it than they did. Plus there was a chunk of hard plastic in ours, I added the photo of it next to the knife handle. We didn't get our entrees until 10pm, 2 hours after we arrived even though we were told it was going be out shortly 40 minutes before that. We wanted to try the dessert but decided against it since it was almost 11pm by the time we had finished eating dinner and we didn't want to be there all night waiting for dessert. The food was very good, but I don't think I'd go back with a big group again, it would probably be better for a smaller party. We were all ready to fall asleep on the table by the end of the night. When Wednesdays feel special, you know you're doing something right! When I heard about Albertino's and their Wednesday table side cacio e pepe I knew I had to try it as soon as possible. Tonight was the night we were able to make reservations and eagerly looked forward to our dinner all day. From start to finish Albertino's impressed. We were warmly greeted at the door and brought to our table where there was a short wait for our server to arrive. She explained the history of their restaurant- family owned and operated, her father is in the back cooking, her mother makes the desserts, her sister makes the bread and family members are all around serving. The best focaccia I've ever tasted was brought to the table with olive oil infused with herbs. The focaccia was impressively fresh and flavorful. Crusty top, soft fluffy middle and a hearty, crunchy bottom. For appetizers we shared the artichoke and charcuterie board. The charcuterie board was tasty and fresh with two meats, two cheeses, olives, roasted red peppers and pickled eggplant. However, the clear star of the show were the artichokes. They were broken down so that the entire portion was edible. The leaves were golden brown and crispy, the middle and stem buttery soft. They came drenched in a garlic olive oil which we immediately used the focaccia to sop up. Phenomenal dish. I will dream of those crispy, garlicky artichokes until my next meal at Albertino's. For our entrees we both had the table side preparation of cacio e pepe. Creamy, salty, spaghetti heaven. Our server offered us red pepper flakes imported from her father's home town in Italy. How could we say no to that!? They were much different than your typical red pepper flakes. They were plenty spicy but had a whole unique sensory experience when they hit your tongue. It tingled with flavor and heat. Delicious! For dessert we both had delicious and strong cappuccinos. We also tried their famous ice box cake and grandmother's lemon ricotta pie. The ice box cake was perfect. Flavorful and creamy with nice texture from the graham crackers. The ricotta pie was short and dense. It reminded me of the filling of a traditional Easter pie/grain pie but without the grain. Simple and tasty. The meal was paced perfectly and took 2 hours total. The restaurant is small and narrow but does not feel overly crowded. Lighting and decor added to the ambiance of coziness. Highly recommend! My fiancé and I will certainly return. We dined at Albertino's during their soft opening for my wife's birthday. I made the reservation with Maria via e-mail and she got back to me quickly with a confirmation for our party of seven. Albertino's has taken the spot once held by Indya. Indya has mover over to the space that used to be home to Woksabi. The dining room is rustic and charming old world. Food was good. Here is what was un-acceptable. They add a 20% Tip, not advised. They appear to overbook. ( Seated 40 Min. after reservation time ). Never offered dessert, or coffee. Very small, and not inviting at all. Here is a suggestion. Avoid Wed. & Thursday. 90% of patrons, order the Cacio e Pepe. They have one cheese wheel, and they really can't handle the order volume. They claim it is prepared table side. Not true! it is prepared, and then wheeled to the table, and served. I doubt I will return. read more

We are new to the are and trying out new restaurants. After reading such great reviews I bookmarked it on yelp. Made reservations on their website which was easy. Restaurants is cute but space is limited. We went with our two elementary age kids, which I do not recommend to do. It's not a kid friendly as in there aren't kid menus and the waitress wasn't too happy to see two kids. Waitress made us aware that everyone at the table had to order an entree but this time they are making an exception; Which we appreciated. It's an adult kinda vibe which would be great for a date night. The food is mediocre. We ordered Cesar salad and bread that took forever to arrive. Table next to us that sat after us got their apps first even though we ordered the same things. I was hoping she would bring over the bread at least since the kids were so hungry. Entrees are overpriced and underwhelming on the taste. I ordered the chicken limon which was over cooked, old and overwhelmed with rosemary. Other dish was linguine frutti di mare which didn't have much taste and was skimmed on the seafood. The worst part was that we were rushed out of the restaurant. A patron waiting pointed to our table to the hostess to give them our table. Hostess immediately came over cleared up our table and said,"you don't want any dessert, right?" She had not come to the table the whole night as we waited for our food or service but as soon as this fellow came she was ready to kick us out. Although, we didn't want dessert only because I was tired of waiting it was just rude to get rid of us. It's just unacceptable. I would go as far as saying the pork chop was one of the better meals I've had in a long time. It was, nothing shy of incredible. Is it summer in the garden state and accompanied by 3 measly slices of zucchini when they are nearly giving the produce away all over the state ? Yes - no points removed for that - but when I shared my picture it was brought to my attention. Had I got this dish alone I'd go 4.5/5 and let it be. Ordered artichoke from appetizer menu - very good. Reminiscent of Jewish Rome and tasty. Bread from the house also - very good. Quality oil. Got the Veal Albertino - veal medallion dish with crabmeat and I would say it was very forgettable, rather skimpy, and overpriced for what it was ($38) Crabmeat seemed a far cry from jumbo lump. Would not recommend this dish and if you are so inclined to order veal medallions, I'm thinking you have better options in walking distance. Albeit, probably just the wrong dish to order on what was a rather small menu Ambiance was cool yet tough to compare to the other places in town. Staff was friendly and emphasized they are family owned. Nice. I will be back in the future likely to mix up the dishes a bit. read more

Went for the first time and all the food was great. Had the Cacio e Pepe Cheese Wheel entree portion. Lived up to what I was expecting, presentation of the preparation tableside did not disappoint. Artichoke appetizer was unique and absolutely tasty. Had to try dessert and we got the vanilla/chocolate pudding with cookie dirt was soooo good. Highly recommend! read more

Wow! It's difficult to find an experience such as the one you'll have at Albertino's! Family owned, hard working, knowledgeable wonderful people who make the most AMAZING food! The Calabrese salad was the best I ever had, and I don't prefer to eat salads! The pork chop and the salmon were primo! The bread was so delicious. And the pasta in the Locatelli cheese wheel (Cacio e Pepe) was the best part of the night! Re Re worked so hard at perfecting the entree! This is not your normal Italian restaurant. This place is like going into someone's home. The staff were super welcoming. We were seated immediately when we arrived. The ambiance is very much like a restaurant in Italy. The food was fantastic. The burrata and roasted peppers were delicious. The cacio e pepe lived up to its reputation. The star of the meal was the Linguine ai Frutti di Mare. The sauce tasted just like my mother in law's. It was to die for. The dessert was a good finishing touch. Great job read more

From the moment you walk in, you feel like family in this family run restaurant. Dad is cooking, mom is the hostess, the kids are waiting tables...the inside is inviting and warm. Make reservations for the nights they do the cheese wheel. We opted for the appetizer of it, so we could taste the other offerings from the chef. The pasta cheese wheel was delicious! Add the truffle to compliment the cheesey goodness. The linguini frutti de mare was awesome. Seafood and pasta done to perfection. The ribeye steak special was amazing.
