Great restaurant!! Great service. Great Caesar salad. Great pasta. Amazing atmosphere.

While there is nothing that seems inherently 'Sicilian' about this restaurant, they do serve some very tasty Italian fare. We started with the vegetarian meatballs - made with eggplant, covered with cheese and sauce - they were flavorful and a great way to start the meal. The menu includes the favorites, two of which we ordered. I had the Carbonara - very good, though I do tend to like my guiancale cooked a little more crispy the sauce was quite good. My girlfriend had the Linguine with clams, which she very much enjoyed. Eating inside, the atmosphere gave a somewhat authentic Italian feel - service was appropriately attentive - no rush, but things arrived in a manner that was timely, but suggested that care was taken in preparing our meals. The price of the meal was a bit high - an iced tea is $5 and a plate of pasta or appetizer is pushing $25-30, so I wouldn't eat here every day, but I will certainly keep this place in mind for future trips to the city. read more

Check your bill! Seated right away on a Monday night. Not very busy. Calm, quiet dining room. Service was relatively quick for water/bread/ordering. Food came pretty quick-- after being informed kitchen was closing in 5 minutes. Chicken parm was good, pasta & gnocchi was better. Freshly baked bread. However, our server was increasingly distracted. Talking to co-workers while we waited on multiple requests 2-3x. Then he realized he forgot & then brought our request. Totally understood if it was slamming busy but was not. Bill arrives at $100, but charge machine says $180 ($80 over what we ordered). Almost signed but flagged & fixed by server. I don't know if this was an egregious mistake or deliberate tourist scam (in the dim light, 8 almost looked like a 0 (as bill was almost signed without looking). Came here after seeing a broadway show (walking distance) and it was amazing. We had reservations at 9pm on a thursday but got there a little early and they still were able to seat us. All the servers were also friendly. We got the margarita and fichi pizzas. Both were delicious but I highly recommend trying the fichi, which was on the sweeter side. We also got the crostata di mele for dessert and we devoured it. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but the ambience and food is worth. Great for a nice summer day! read more

Came here after a show and we sat outside in the patio seating on a beautiful summer day and our waiter Roberto gave us the best service and made us feel like we were in Italy! I ordered the cascarecce and my partner ordered the spaghetti chitarra and both were insanely flavorful and delicious. I came here with friends for brunch in Feb before going to see Chess on Broadway a block over. The place is quite large & the space is light and bright. Based on Yelp reviews I got the Spaghetti Chitarra (delicious!) while my friends had more standard options off the brunch menu (fritatta & brunch bistecca) which they thought were decent. They also had a Bloody Mary and Sangria, while I got a Sicilian Breeze. We shared the Limone di Sicilia dessert--such a cute presentation looking just like a lemon, and a very nice refreshing taste! Wow! What a lovely restaurant. We were going to see a broadway show and this was 2 blocks away. We had the most leisurely meal ever. The servers and staff were super attentive and met all our needs without being intrusive. It was decorated so pretty for Christmas and the general decor is elegant and classic. The food and drinks were excellent! Prosecco, Sicilian breeze, Capri Rush and San Giovese red. We shared a crocche appetizer and Cesar salad. Dinners included the crab cake appetizer, Cacio e Pepe, lasagna, and carbonara. They sang happy birthday to me with a delightful Limone di Sicilia and Torta Al Formaggio. This review is mostly influenced by the rude attitude that the bartending server had with me from the moment I sat down at the bar for dinner, for no reason at all. I accidentally dropped the menu when I was ordering and it went off the bar, she stared at me for 5 seconds, rolled her eyes, and then picked it up and put it back in front of me. I asked her if there was champagne by the glass because I couldn't find it on what is the cluster of an alcohol menu they have, and her reply was "yep, it's on the menu". Thanks for that so helpful wow!!!!!!!! I asked for cheese on my pasta and she said "what" in such a snarky way and made a ticked off face at me that was totally unnecessary. When I asked for a new fork to eat my pasta with after my appetizer, she rolled her eyes and threw down the new silverware beside my plate. Based on all of the social media hype and reviews, we were really looking forward to having dinner at Sicily Osteria this past week, & decided to make the 2 hour trip into NYC . We were very disappointed on many fronts: Menu - we came for some special dishes listed on Instagram earlier that day. One dish was sold out (Zucchini Blossoms) and another wasn't even offered this time of year (Basque Cheesecake). When asked about these, we were told that the "web team" was separate from the restaurant team and they don't always update the social media postings & we should call before arriving for menu updates (really?) Food Quality - there were many misses on this front. We ordered the potato croquettes. The cheese in the croquettes was not at all melted and they were dense & dry. The bread, while fresh was soggy and not crisp. The sauce on the pasta dishes was subpar, something we would expect to get in a local pizzeria, not high quality at all. My wife ordered the Paccheri Ala Norma and there was really no eggplant in the dish, just the hard, bitter skin. While we like pasta al dente, this was way harder than al dente. On the plus side the Gnocchi was decent. For dessert we got the Limoni Di Sicilia and the Crostata with peaches. The Limoni was overly sweet, and while the Crostata was tasty, it was missing some elements that we saw in the restaurants pictures (flower embellishment). Overall, very disappointing food for the price - we don't mind paying the high prices, but when the food is this bad, it is irritating. Service - Our waiter was nice, doing the best he could, but since someone called in sick, the service was somewhat chaotic. Add a private party in the back room, the staff was challenged to keep up. He never offered us cheese for our pasta and was very apologetic for the menu mishaps, but again, he was doing the best he could. There are much better Italian restaurants in NYC and better restaurants on Restaurant Row. This was a one and done for us. read more

And which I thought would be an easy going night and since it was near Broadway, people would be filtering out by 8pm. However this was not the case. Which is always a good problem for the restaurant to have. As it was so busy! Almost every table including the back room (which we were seated) was full. It was hard to flag down our waiter as he was so busy. But ok we were not in a rush so we were not mad. We just relaxed and whenever our server came he came. We ordered a few apps, from the burrata, meatballs, Caesar salad and the octopus, they were so delicious! The octopus was a generous portion and the burrata was so fresh and creamy. Only thing is I was hoping to get the complimentary bread which I saw photos of, but it is no longer complimentary !!! You have to pay $5 for it now!! So that was upsetting ! Next we ordered the eggplant parm, chicken parm, salmon, and 2 different pastas. However the pastas were both similar flavor and was not different. But we loved the salmon and the parms! Overall Visit We stopped by here for dinner before a show and had a reservation. We were immediately greeted by the host with a smile. I didn't look at photos beforehand of the seating setup, but I guess my face said it all when we got to our table, the staff quickly noticed and kindly offered to move us. It was pretty, but honestly, if I came back, I'd probably choose a different spot, it felt a bit tucked away and harder to get noticed by the servers. Drinks Our server was friendly and welcoming, which was such a breath of fresh air for NYC, people here aren't exactly known for being warm, so that stood out. The cocktails were great overall. I had the Watermelon Sugar (so good!) but was a bit disappointed in the lemon garnish, it didn't match the profile, and a watermelon slice would've been better and seen it in photos like that too. The drink was still good. The Capri Rush, which to me tasted a bit like lemon cleaning product, maybe just me, but not my favorite. Food Now, for the food, OMG. I quickly skimmed Yelp and saw everyone raving about the Spaghetti Chitarra, and let me tell you... it did not disappoint. Absolutely phenomenal, the pasta texture, the sauce, the crab meat, pistachios, chef's kiss. Trust me, just order it. We also had the Branzino and the Polpette (meatballs), the meatballs are technically an appetizer, but if you want something lighter, they could easily work as a small entrée. The branzino was also excellent. Restrooms & Accessibility The restrooms are located downstairs and the stairs are quite steep, but they also have an accessible restroom on the main level, which I really appreciated. Whether before or after a Broadway play, Sicily Osteria is always a welcoming addition to your day out. Food is always consistently delicious, authentic, and fresh. I love their wood fired pizza's cooked to perfection. Always asked about the specials, sometimes they forget to mention them, case in point we overheard another waiter mention the specials and our waiter had no idea about them. Well today they had stuffed zucchini flowers and they were amazing, brought back the memories of visiting Italy. Decent wine list and full bar. Came here for a bite to eat at 12:30 pm before a 2 pm matinee. We didn't have a reservation and just walked in. The restaurant is deceivingly large inside and had tons of seating. My husband and I started with the warmed ricotta with honey. We liked it, but it needed more honey. The cheese was super fresh and creamy though. We ordered their $5 homemade bread as well, thinking they didn't put any bread on the table and we would need it for the ricotta. Turns out they do give you table bread, and while the warmed skilled bread was good, it wasn't necessary. We chose to share the carbonara and skirt steak. Both were excellent, really decently sized and would get again. The star of the entire meal was dessert. We ordered the lemon mousse and it turns out it's mousse with curd, and it's dipped in chocolate to look like a lemon. Until we cracked into it, we genuinely couldn't tell it wasn't a real lemon. How this isn't tik tok famous, their signature dish, everyone isn't talking about it, I'm not sure, it was out of this world. It comes with this delicious crumble around it. I walked around after work looking for a place with happy hour specials and found Sicily. It's a lot bigger inside than it appears from the outside. The servers and host greeted me as I went in. I sat at the bar and ordered their Limoncello Spritz and later the Aperol Spritz which were both light and refreshing. For an appetizer, I tried their Panelle (chickpea fritters). They were crispy and paired very well with the tomato based dipping sauce provided. I also ordered their Spaghetti Chitarra off the main menu. Not a lot of crab meat in it but it was creamy and filled me up. Had an issue with the bartender charging me for more drinks than I actually ordered but he rectified my bill. Be sure to ask if they will serve bread before the meal. I made the mistake of ordering the bread on the menu for five dollars. It was not good. After I ordered that bread, they served bread to the table which was a tasty sourdough, much better than the bread for which I paid five dollars because they would not cancel the order after serving the table bread. I tried a limoncello spritz, and it was really good and refreshing. I also ordered the Caesar salad salad, and I have no complaints about it. Super delicious and not at all bitter which is the key ENTREES - I did the linguine and white clams. The linguini was very good but not homemade but the clams were those manilla ones that aren't that great and there were little shell pieces in the sauce. Others thought their dishes were the ok. Everything here is amazing. The service is beyond excellent all of the staff was very attentive. The food here is also excellent. Everything is so fresh you can taste it. We had two different kinds of breads before we got out appetizers and they were perfect. The star of the show here is the desserts. It's all hand crafted made in house and absolutely amazing. Pre-theater NYC Restaurant Week Dinner 2025. Good price and portions for restaurant week! Great place for a pre-theater meal and great deal for reataurant week. Conveniently located on Restaurant Row. Note - I mention in detail at the end of this that it could have been more efficient, we had to rush to the show after. 2 people on a Thursday night before seeing a Broadway show one block away. One person vegetarian, the other gluten-sensitive. We only ordered from the reataurant week menu, one person also ordered a glass of wine. Note that the restaurant week menu does not mention which dishes are vegetarian or gluten-free. It doesn't mention any allergens so fortunately the staff helped clarify that information to us. I also commend the staff for coming back and letting me know that my original apprtizer choice was not gluten-free and pointing out which one was. Appetizers: Pomodoro Ripieno (could have used more salt. No salt shaker on the table so I just ate it as-is) - veg, gf Involtini de Melanzane - veg Second Courses: Tortellini - veg Halibut e Zafferano Third Courses: Mount Etna (sicilian pistachio lava cake w gelato) - surprisingly gluten-free and extremely delicious! Tiramisu - it was like a deconstructed tiramisu that was assembled tableside It is a large space with a lot of diners and we were seated in the back room - we and the 2 tables on either side of us were all rushing to get to shows in time. I expected it to be much quicker/more efficient service for pre-theater dinner, especially since most people were ordering the same few items from the restaurant week menu. We didn't receive our appetizers until about 20 minutes after we were seated? We mentioned to the staff numerous times we had a show to get to, to please bring out our food. We also asked for check before dessert arrived to save time, so did the table next to us. I've eaten here at least three more times since my last review, most recently this week. I'll still come back regularly but my later experiences were not QUITE up to my enthusiasm for my first few visits, so I'm downgrading a star. If I could do half stars, I'd probably make it 4.5. On one of my more recent visits, I had the rigatoni again. I'm not sure I can say why, but it didn't wow me as much as it did the first few times I had it. On one visit, I had the fettucine al funghi, which didn't have a particularly strong flavor. I LOVE mushrooms so I was surprised that I thought it was just meh. Most recently, I tried the chicken parmigiana which had a great flavor. It was a single chicken breast pounded VERY flat, so it took up a lot of real estate on the plate, but wasn't actually all that much chicken. The chicken was still juicy, though, which I appreciated. We also shared an order of the panne di casa, which comes in a small round cast-iron skillet. I liked it but didn't love it. We split the apple tart for dessert (I'll upload a picture), and it was good, but the tart came cold with ice cream on top, and I really wish it had been served warm or hot instead (still with the ice cream though). Like almost all my meals here, my most recent meal was pre-theater, and the place was packed. Even though I could see a lot of waiters, it was sometimes hard to find ours. And I had to ask for parmesan cheese for my dish twice before someone came over with it. It also took a bit of time to flag down our waiter for the check. read more
