We visited the Albion Hotel for dinner and were genuinely impressed from start to finish. The food was absolutely outstanding. The gnocchi bolognese was rich, flavourful and beautifully cooked, and the garlic bread was some of the best I've had. The meals were generous, fresh and clearly prepared with care.
What really stood out, however, was the exceptional service and attention to detail. One member of our group has severe food allergies, and the chef went above and beyond to prepare a meal specifically for them, taking extra precautions to ensure it was safe. That level of care, professionalism and willingness to accommodate dietary needs is something you don't see everywhere, and it made a huge difference to our experience.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout the evening. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and they helped create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for our group.
We also met several of the elderly residents who live on site, and they were an absolute delight. They were friendly, funny, welcoming and happy to chat, which added to the warm community feel of the venue.
The only area for improvement relates to the layout of the hotel rather than the food or service. The bistro itself is comfortable and well separated once you're seated, however diners currently need to walk through the bar and gaming areas to access it. At times this can detract from what is otherwise an excellent dining experience. A dedicated entrance to the bistro would make a significant difference and create a more welcoming arrival for diners, particularly families, seniors and those looking for a quieter meal.
That said, the quality of the food, the outstanding service and the genuine care shown by the chef far outweighed any negatives. It is rare to find a venue that not only serves excellent food but also takes such care to ensure guests with serious allergies can dine safely and confidently.
We left happy, well-fed and very appreciative of the effort that was made to ensure everyone in our group had an enjoyable evening. We will definitely be back and would happily recommend the Albion Hotel to anyone looking for fantastic food, generous portions, caring staff and genuine old-fashioned hospitality.
It is an absolute gem hidden in a place that can be quite confronting when you first arrive due to the area it's in and from people who may have their own issues hanging around , the security deal with them in a kind of, respectful and dignified manor and try to minimise any disruption by these people. read more
