I have never felt so rushed by the medical assistant, the doctor and when I called to cancel my appointment and explain my reason, the scheduler rushed and dismissed my concerns hanging up on me. The medical assistant and doctor didn't address my concerns. They didn't even let me explain my concerns. And rushed me out the door. I would never recommend this offices to anyone. read more

Super disappointing experience. My appointment was at 9:30 and I showed up at 9:35. Staff wouldn't even check me in because they said they have a 30 minute check-in procedure and that I was technically 30 minutes late. If they're going to cancel your appointment and not let you be seen, the appointment should state the time they want you there. Crazy Bad office policy after waiting six months for my appointment! if you need somebody there at nine or you're not gonna see them, the news should say the appointment is at nine and just build in the buffer. I didn't actually ever get seen. I had a referral from my PCP. Called to make an appointment. The lady that makes appointments was not very helpful. Her attitude was one of "I couldn't care less if you're a patient here or not." She didn't even say bye or thank you when she hung up the phone. Messaged my PCP and had them change my referral to another dermatologist who not only was more friendly, is getting me in 2 months sooner than Albuquerque Dermatology's 4 month wait. read more

I was seen by PA Costello, who DX squamous cell cancer in my ear. I was referred to Dr. Connolly for Mohs procedure and reconstruction. The procedure was a success, I was cured of cancer. Also, the reconstruction went well. I don't think anybody notices the reconstruction. This was a positive experience, and I continue to return to the clinic for annual exams. I had Mohs surgery done to both my eyes and an ever so grateful that Dr. Sky Connely did the job to perfection. This is one very unusual doctor in that he is really excited about making life's better with the skills of hands! Who would have ever thought you could find such a great doctor in Albuquerque, New Mexico! I cannot recommend this Dermatology office. I was referred to Dr. Reddy there, however, I will never return. It is most difficult to call the office, as their phones are continually busy. One would think they could get someone in the office to answer the phones, or take a message, but apparently the staff have "other" things to do. Internet perhaps?? I attempted to cancel an appointment and when this was not done, I rec'd a letter on "red" paper no less, informing me I owed them $100 for failing to cancel my appointment. When attempting to dispute this bogus billing with their Collections/Billing person (Ms. M) I was literally shrieked at, especially when she had to admit she had no document signed by me agreeing to this ridiculous policy. Stay away! I saw Rebecca Smith Sealy. She was very nice but has absolutely no management skills or follow up and cannot seem to return phone calls. There are too many bad examples to list. The final straw was her having me go through numerous blood draws to renew my prescription in June. In December, when my original prescription ran out, she evidently never renewed it. I spoke with the rude and disrespectful front office manager, Patty. She told me it was because I hadn't been to their office in over 6 months and my insurance changed. I have had the same insurance for almost 10 years and I have been seen in their office every 3 months for over 2 years! I told Patty I would like be seen by another Dr. and she told me no and that I should just find another Dermatology practice because they didn't want me there anymore. read more

I was referred by a friend; I had a few concerns regarding some visibly developing blemishes on my face. I called to make an appointment, and upon thinking I may have dialed wrong when I heard someone whimper the name of the practice, I thought to myself; "Did I just dial McDonalds?"... It took a moment for my ears to define the mumbly tones of the "professional" speaking on the other end giving me dumb answers as I groped for questions regarding my skin. I called to book an appointment as physician said that the medicine I was taking was associated with skin cancer. I was told on the phone that they could not book an appointment without first having my Medicare Number which I did not have with me. As a physician I am aware that your Medicare numbers are not needed to book an appointment. I told them that if that was the case I would not be making an appointment. Albuquerque is the highest metropolitan city in the US. Yes, it is higher than the "Mile High" city of Denver. People think Denver is higher because Albuquerqueans have never spent any money marketing themselves. Regardless, living (and hiking) in an elevation of 5,000 to 13,000 feet (especially if you are like most Albuquerqueans and spend a lot of time riding the trails of the Sandias) means that you need to take good care of your skin. Which brings me back to my review- the need for a good dermatologist. I highly recommend Sky Connolly at Albuquerque Dermatology Associates. He is professional and knowledgeable. He also personally wrote my insurance company to get a non- typical procedure covered. And as a female, I have to mention that the dude is HOTTTT and easy on the eyes. The only misgiving I have about his office is that they are always running late, so allow plenty of time for your appointment. If you are looking for a good dermatologist who will go out of the way to bat for you, then Sky is the guy. read more

It was time for my annual sun damage checkup and went to ADA for the first time a few weeks ago. In the past, I have always had the test done with ultraviolet light, not a magnifying glass. I'm no doctor, and neither was he, but I know that you can't adequately check for sun damage with a magnifying glass. "I can't see anything except some blemishes," he flippantly said. Also, I asked about fillers and laser hair removal. He said that someone would be in to talk to me about that. That person never came. Instead, I was quickly escorted out of the room and sent on my way. I had made my appointment pre-COVID and still had to wait four months for a visit which lasted about 10 minutes. The medication he prescribed was sent to the wrong pharmacy which was somewhat like the icing on the cake. Since then, I have found a real dermatologist who did not treat me like a senile old woman. For me, this appointment was a total waste of my time AND money. read more

I recently had MOHS Surgery with Dr. Connolly. He and his staff were superb. They explained what I needed to know, gave me a little booklet to read before surgery, and on the day I was treated with courtesy and respect - and, unlike the previous reviewer, I was seen right on schedule. Dr. Connolly himself is an excellent surgeon and has a manner that makes you feel completely confident in what is, let's face it, a pretty scary situation. read more

This practice seems to be more in business to make a buck than provide good patient care.The staff from the scheduling down to the MA's are very unorganized in communication and sometimes rude. I have never been to a dermatologist where you have to tell them if you want to have your top half or lower half checked, especially when you have a history of skin cancer. The doctor is in and out very fast, and quick to point out cost of extras if you want them. I don't know if you have more than one half of your body examined, is there is an additional charge? There are better skin centers that care more about there patients, than how much they make. read more

Told me they faxed a prescription for Hydroquinone to Highland Pharmacy, so I drove across town only to be told by them that a prescription for this medication cannot be faxed - they did not give me a hand written prescription. Dr. Brian Costello needs to show a little more respect towards patients. I over heard him outside the door complaining about taking a new patient, which is what I was. Then he stormed in and just glanced at the area in question and said some big word. Then he asked, "What do you want to do?" I was amazed at what he was talking about. I also had to show him two other areas that needed to be looked at. He was in the exam room maybe 5 mins. Doctors need to understand that new patients are just as important as old and that we are there because another doctor is not sure of the findings, they are looking for advise also. So tame your ego down Dr. Brian Costello you are not the only one in town. One the other side, his assistant was very nice and handed me a sheet that explained in detail what I had. The worst physician I have encountered. It took months to get an appointment and when I did Dr. Reddy was not helpful, spent less than five minutes with me (after I waited to see her for over an hour), and had no bedside manner -- she acted inconvenienced by my appointment. I live over 2 hours away from ABQ Dermatology Associates. I went in today as a new patient. They took off a couple problem spots for me and will call me about the biopsy reports. No further appointments required unless the biopsies are "bad". I am so happy to have had everything handled in one appointment! read more

I went to Albuquerque Dermatology Ass for two minor surgeries. Thought everything was fine. I have two scares to show where the work was done. One of them got infected and I had to go in and have it cleaned out. Eventually, all cleared up and I thought everything was fine. Seven months later, I get a bill saying I owed money. It seems ADA took their time processing my claims and now wants me to pay for their mistakes. I will make sure everyone I know stays away from ADA. read more

Dr. Connolly performed the MOHS surgery on my ear. I trust him as a doctor and believe he and his staff did an exceptional job. My loudest complaint, however, is that HE DISRESPECTS HIS PATIENT'S TIME!! The second day of my two-day procedure I had an appointment at 2:30. I was not seen until 5:30. NO exaggeration. He was THREE HOURS LATE. Two months later I had a follow-up appointment scheduled at 9:30 (which the front desk told me was a good time to see him because it was one of his first appointments, so he would be on time...), and it was 11:20 before he wandered into the exam room---nearly two hours after my appointment time. Dr. Connolly was somewhat apologetic, but at this point I concluded that profound lateness was routine for him. Basically, he feels entitled to be late and waste his patients' time, so the apology is just a routine response with no sincerity behind it. read more

I had been going to Albuquerque Dermatology Associates for several years when I was suddenly informed that they would no longer refill my prescription without an appointment. Since I was on a tight schedule and they gave me no notice about this policy I could only see them the next day, which they informed me, they could not accommodate (they didn't even try to accommodate me). As a result, I decided that I wanted a refund for peels I had purchased (which didn't work, btw) but had not used. They told me that I actually received more peels than what I had paid for and so they were not going to charge me for the peels that I used (I purchased a package of 6 and only used 3). They told me that I was free to use the 3 remaining peels, but that I was owed no money back. I asked them to give me something in writing saying how much each individual peel was and they refused. A few days later I received a registered letter from them saying that they would no longer provide me with dermatology services-- in essence- they won't even provide me with the three additional peels that I paid for but haven't received yet!!! Stay away. There are plenty of honest dermatologists in Albuquerque to choose from. You don't need these people. read more

This visit was pretty much a waste of time for me as I also had to drive in from Santa Fe. Evidently if you don't have acne, psoriasis, or need something burned off they cannot help you. The worst thing I about these kind of visits is that they have these set questions that they ask you which may or may not relate to your problem. You cannot even tell them the history of your problem or they look at you like you are crazy. They are not alone in this kind of treatment but I just wish I could find one Dr. that doesn't just dismiss problems that are very real to me. read more
