I truly am a customer. I purchased six table lamps and three pendants from Tiffany. She was a dream to work with and incredibly helpful. She's kind, caring and considerate. My husband Randy and I are redoing the dining room. A friend told us about Alcott. The saleswoman, Alison, explained that none of the display models are for sale. Everything must be ordered frrom a binder. The binder had no prices. Prices, Alison said, are "determined upon request." I requested. Alison disappeared for eleven minutes and came back with a Post-it note that said $1,850. No model number. No description. Delivery: 16 weeks. Installation: not included. Returns: "we'd have to discuss that." I asked if I could see the fixture I'd be ordering. Alison pointed at the binder. The binder photo was 240 pixels wide and appeared to be a scan of a fax. Brittany provided extraordinary customer service and took very good care of us. Our outdoor carriage light / sconce had a factory defect. She contacted them, arrange shipping terms, and provided us an exact sconce that matched our defective unit. Alcott and Bentley is by far the best in Kentuckiana. What a horrible customer service experience. I had the displeasure of working with the store manager Tiffany, who only feigned like she cared about my business for the purchase of two higher price point lighting fixtures. No smiles, no courtesy, not even an iota of creative design. Every question was answered in a curt manner, with a condescending tone. Luckily, she wasn't working the second time my wife and I visited, and we were fortunately helped by Chelsea. Absolutely fabulous recovery on all levels. And as far as Tiffany goes, we remember her when she was a server at Louvino's... and she was just as lackluster then. How the owner could ever promote such an obstinate, condescending "lady" to a managerial position, I'll never know. And don't be surprised if my wife and I don't hire Chelsea to work at our firm right out from under your nose. read more

We recently visited Alcott & Bentley while on a short vacation to Kentucky. We were welcomed to the store by lighting designer, Chelsey Clark. She was very nice and invited us to look around. She was available for questions but not pushy in her approach. After a brief discussion she learned we were updating our home and had not been able to find anything we loved. We are drawn to contemporary pieces but our home is traditional. Chelsey spent several hours researching options for us and found several pieces that are transitional. We love them! I had spent over 40 hours looking for lighting and Chelsey solved the challenge in an afternoon. I highly recommend the store and Chelsey! read more

I recently moved to the area, and found this charming store from the beautiful, unique fixtures in the window while driving down Bardstown rd. I stopped, met with a designer,who made a home visit and took time to work with me on the design needs for my home. I enjoyed the many options available in the store, as well as the items available for order. Tiffany also offered names of electricians for installation whom provided excellent service. I found the service excellent, the craftsmanship of goods purchased superb. This store lends to the true fun spirit of shops on Bardstown road. read more

My fiancé and I will never "shop" here again. We were out looking for furniture and thought to go and see what this store had to offer. We loved multiple items in the store and were really considering on buying a couch from out of there that same day. But when we went in we stood around for 15 minutes with no one greeting us or asking us if we needed assistance even though they've seen us enter. Which is even more appalling because other customers after us were greeted as they entered. There were a couple employees standing near the back table by the lights who also didn't acknowledge us as we walked past. I'm not sure if it's because they thought we couldn't afford any of the items or because they thought that we'd just waste their times, but we really did not appreciate this form of "business" at all and will not return. read more

The customer service at this site is spot on! The ladies always come over and check in on customers. Have answers and willing to take the time to answer the questions. This is one of the coolest stores in Louisville. We like to find 'different' things. This is not a cookie cutter lighting and decor store. Very beautiful and something for everyone and anyones budget. They were very helpful in sending me and email with all the things we had looked and discussed so that I could think about it. Then when I came back and made my purchase, even though I didn't need it immediately, worked to arrange for it to be delivered directly to me instead of my having to drive another trip to Louisville. Please don't buy anything from this store. Their store manager is not customer friendly. I bought a Casablanca fan that was defective. They came out as the only Casablanca warranty service center in town and tried to repair promptly but after that it was a nightmare. They ordered a new fan and then I had to wait 2 1/2 months for them to install it after they received it. It also didn't work. They told me they weren't going to send it back or order another one from Casablanca and told me I could if I wanted to. I asked them if they would hang it if I did since it was under warranty. They said no we don't work for free. The electrician they sent out was friendly and helpful but even he suggested that my electric current to the fan may be bad. I hung my old fan back up and have no problem since. read more
