Sitting in my car, I already felt the anxiety building because dental visits can be nerve-racking for me. When I checked my appointment again, I realized I was actually scheduled at Fair Lakes Family Dentistry, so I drove over hoping this experience would be different. The moment I walked in, the beautiful lobby and welcoming staff immediately shifted the tone. A.D., the dental assistant, called me back and introduced herself with such warmth that my guard began to lower. Our conversation felt natural and calming, which helped me relax before the appointment even began. Then I met Corey, the dental hygienist. When he spoke, I noticed his accent and asked where he was from. When he said Memphis, I smiled instantly--because I'm from Memphis too, born and raised. That small moment of connection turned what could have been a stressful appointment into something much more human. Corey listened as I shared my past dental concerns and experiences. His empathy, patience, and attentiveness made me feel like a person, not just a patient. As a counselor, I deeply value when professionals create a space where someone feels seen, heard, and respected. Corey did exactly that. OK...this will be a review of Dr Dyer, but also something people who need osseous surgery can refer…read moreto. The review will be ongoing since the osseous surgery needs to be done in stages, so review will be updated several times. Although I brush and floss, I developed gun disease and needed osseous surgery. Osseous surgery can be intimidating. That is because you have to cut the gums open to expose and work on the inflamed tissues and often damaged tooth root. It is not quite open heart surgery, but it is something that is still pretty serious and requires a lot of skill, especially since you will be awake the whole time. Having said that, don't worry too much, the procedure itself is not painful. The shots, of course sting and you will need several. Doc Dyer was quick and efficient. OK, so gums are cut open and doc Dyer is cleaning away and seems to be in the zone. I saw one reviewer claim that doc Dyer is not friendly. In my experience he was quite friendly during the initial visit, but yes was not particularly jovial during the actual work. But that is, IMO, because he is serious about the work he is doing. Your gums are cut open and he is down in your tooth root doing some pretty hard core work/scraping (he also had to re-build a damaged root) so you might not want Rodney Dangerfield type humor at that moment. Just my take. He did call to check up on me that night, I think it was about 20 minutes to 9, so that shows me he cares about you after the work day is over. I am sorry to say this, but IMO, a lot of health pros are in it only for the money (please see my review of Delight Dental) but doc Dyer did not have to call at night. Good sign. So the section was done and I went home. My meds were waiting for me at my local Pharmacy, no problem, but 2 hours later I was feeling no pain so I did not take anything. I probably should have because 2 hours later the gums started to hurt. I ended up taking 3-4 codeine. The next morning they really hurt and I took one and they still hurt so I took another. I was worried because you don't get a lot of codeine...but pretty soon the pain resided and here on day 2 I have some lower jaw soreness and moderate gum pain and might need a few more but I am pretty sure I am good. That is a pet peeve of mine, docs who underprescribe pain medication since they care more about their license than your pain (thank the opiod crisis and general greed). Another reviewer claims that doc Dyer under prescribed pain meds, but I am getting by with no problem on what he wrote. I am getting a little pain from eating but I have enough meds, so don't worry about that although YMMV. That wraps it up fo right now. I am a tough grader but have to go with a 5 for right now. We will see how things go when I get the rest of my work done.

As someone with dental anxiety, one of my biggest fears has always been needing a root canal. I…read morehave such trust issues that I drive 3 hours twice a year to my hometown dentist for cleanings. Unfortunately, I found myself needing a root canal after a long ordeal with a broken crown. My dentist reached out to an oral surgeon colleague in the area who immediately referred her to Dr. Spradley as being one of the best. They got me in about a week or so after calling for an appointment. I was genuinely surprised that was the soonest they were available seeing as this office only does root canal procedures. However, I realize now that's just a testament to how good they are that everyone comes here to have that done. While I didn't get to see Dr. Spradley personally, I was very happy with the care I received from his associate. Everything was thoroughly explained to me, they went over the financial aspect with me and were very reassuring to me throughout the procedure. I felt listened to and well cared for. I've had dental procedures that lasted a lot longer and were a lot more uncomfortable. I was very pleasantly surprised at how "easy" the procedure was. It was painless. The only negative is that they did inform me a small piece of tool broke off in the root that they were unable to safely retrieve. However, they showed it to me on my X Ray and told me that it shouldn't cause me any issues now or in the future. They emailed a detailed report to my regular dentist following the procedure which I really appreciated. They also provided after care instructions that included Dr. Spradley's personal cell number should I have any issues after business hours. Root canals are definitely not ideal, but if you need one this is definitely the place to have it done.

Dr.Spradley is a wonderful Endo doctor. I went in to have an upper molar root canal done and before…read morehe began he numbed my mouth snd started the procedure. He quickly stopped before really getting started and told me that my tooth had a crack in it and he could not proceed with the root canal! He then proceeded to give me two scripts (one for clearing up any infections in the tooth and another for discomfort. He also gave me the name of a dentist (an oral surgeon) to get my tooth extracted. So, now 3 months out, I am feeling back to normal but , I will not forget how caring Dr Spradley and his entire staff were to me that morning in early March.
