I've finally found a dentist since moving to Houston! Very pleased with coming here. Yelp reviews didn't mislead me. Dr. McDonald and his staff are all very nice. The hygienist did a great job! Mouth and tooth pain can be the worst kind of pain. I just had several cavities filled in one session and it was the best experience I've ever had. I always have a lot of jaw pain during dental procedures and Dr. McDonald was considerate and caring the entire time, which meant a lot. I also had some bonding done (which I am very pleased with) and plan on getting more cosmetic work here in the future. :) read more

It's so unfortunate that Dr. McDonald has retired, he is deeply missed. It was time for my prophylaxis and I had scheduled it since before Dr. McDonald left, to my surprise the new team at this location was making FALSE claims that I had decay all over my mouth to get more money out of me. I was disgusted, how can a professional clinic do this? Fortunately, I am a former dental assistant and I knew there claims were false, otherwise I would have fallen for it. Their claims were based on Dr. McDonald's estimate to remove old filings, which were never do to decay but cosmetic. Wrongly misdiagnosing a patient based on a chart where it does NOT stay anything wrong with teeth but rather doing it for money advantages is WRONG. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this dental clinic. read more

Although Dr. McDonald is a great dentist, beware of the office staff. Their insurance quotes are usually off and they do not update the records with the information we are required to take the time to fill out. This is the second time I found out a year later that I had a balance and they said I was ignoring their letters. They did have my correct phone and email but didn't try to contact me that way. The first time it happened they threatened to send me to collections. All they had to do is call me! I had previously notified them twice that of a patient's death and again they asked for his email. I am now 24 years young and they still take care of my pearly whites - not only on the surface but also where they are not on constant display! Conservative Dental Office: After moving from the Dallas area, I needed to find a new dentist, so I checked online with Nextdoor.com and with Yelp.com. Yelp.com helped me locate dentists near to my home, and after reading all the positive reviews for McDonald Dental, I made an appointment for an exam and cleaning. They do have a new patient special which includes a free initial exam and bitewings x-ray to check for cavities. A form is available at their website, mcdonalddental.com. The normal cleaning at this time cost $76, but note that the hygenist reviewed my teeth first in order to make sure that there were not issues which would require the dreaded deep cleaning. Since I have had regular six month cleanings and take good care of my teeth, I only needed the basic cleaning. Summary: as per all the other reviews, I found this dental office to meet my every need, so I highly recommend it. read more

I had my first appointment today with Dr. Louis McDonald and Zoe, Dental Technician. It was a great experience from the first phone call to ask some questions to checking in to the cleaning by Zoe and then the final check with Dr. McDonald. My teeth and gums can be sensitive and Zoe was very careful and continually checked with me if there was any discomfort. She was outstanding and easy to work with. I saw Dr. Klein after visiting another dentist that was not so great. I saw the first dentist for a cleaning and was told I needed to replace an old filling. I had the work done a couple of days later and was in constant pain afterwards. I saw Dr. Klein to "repair" the damage. The first dentist also told me I needed work on two additional teeth that I was not having problems with. Dr. Klein's office took several X-rays and honestly told me I didn't need the extra dental work. She performed several tests to determine exactly what part of my tooth needed a bite adjustment, performed the quick adjustment and sent me on my way. I, like many people, have anxiety about going to the dentist. I had to come in today to replace a crown and fix three fillings. I had the normal build up of nerves but everyone from the girl behind the desk to the Doctor himself was so was reassuring and knowledgeable. I'm very upset! I just got this bill from the dental office, my insurance was supposed to cover my prophylaxis but as you all can see with all the extra charges, now I owe them. I have to say, I am dental assistant and therefore, I know the condition of my teeth. "Oral hygiene instruction"? Really? I haven't had any decay since I was a child, no prescription was recommended to me the day of the visit and it was very light cleaning because I do take good care of my teeth like I learned in school, so what were these instructions? The hygienist doesn't even have to use an ultrasonic scaler on my teeth, yes, they're that clean! "Oral cancer screening" so I had no concerns with my teeth, nothing has change, like I said not even decay so why this screening? "Intra-oral camera" I did not ask for anything else besides what was included on my regular cleaning, I don't remember if they took these pictures, if they did, I want to see them. "Perio chart" this procedure is done with an assistant who writes down a series of numbers that the hygienist calls out, this numbers are measures in mm of the depths of the gingival sulcus around each tooth, so this takes time and you as a patient will hear them when this happens, so weird because I do not recall this happening during my procedure, I need to see that chart because it was $125 wow! read more

I thought I would try McDonald Dental for a second opinion after another dental clinic told me I needed a deep cleaning and had 5 cavities which was quite scary(and expensive). I am extremely scared of dental visits so I almost called to cancel, glad I didn't because the staff did an excellent job working with my anxiety and informing me that all the work the other dentist told me I needed was not necessary. I only needed a regular cleaning and had 2 surface cavities! I'm not excited about the 2 cavities of course, but its not even half of the dental work the other clinic quoted me. I went in for a routine cleaning. Dr. Andrew Smith examined me and performed my cleaning. He was patient with my questions and listened closely to my concerns. I requested alternative cleaning methods to minimize chemical exposures and they were very accommodating. The office is very clean, smells pleasant and is well decorated and maintained. The front staff gave me a warm and personable greeting when I arrived. The biggest deal for me was that I didn't feel like I was being "up-sold" for any unnecessary treatments as I have always been in the past, elsewhere. Dr. Smith offered me information to consider for my future treatment plan and was agreeable and respectful of my wishes on what to wait on doing. He had great advice and was knowledgeable about what he spotted in my imaging. I like it when I walk away feeling educated rather than lectured and warned. I have lived in the area 16 years and have driven by this location but until now, had not become a patient. Dental offices are popping up like weeds on every corner, but thru the years this one has stayed long standing and that is indicative to me that they are a quality dentist. So I found this gem because I wasn't too happy with my last dentist and I am so glad I did. This place is always clean and the staff is always nice. They have free coffee in the waiting room also but I've never had too wait long because I was always called in right away. Also, they're always giving away neat stuff just because you are a patient.
