Sigh, I hate updating a positive review after poor experiences but I'd be remiss if I didn't. Pretty much all of my previous experience is still true (see below!). Aldi is a wonderful grocery store to shop at and save money. What has changed? This location is truly troubled in two ways: 1 - There are only ever 2 lines open and the lines are always extremely long, no matter the day/time. It's turning into W*lm*rt. I'm sure that it's good for their bottom line to not spend more money on more employees, but at what cost? The team is truly lovely, as stated before. They get you in and get you out as quickly as they can. But I can only wonder how much more of an efficient experience it may be for us all if they opened at least one more of their available lanes. 2 - The produce selection here is C-grade at the most. I'm not sure if it's because of the location or what, but I'm constantly disappointed with the selection and find myself having to hit Kroger or Publix to get my produce after a visit to this Aldi these days. The last 4 times that I've visited, I've seen rotten carrots, mushy or totally unripened avocados, overpriced bags of produce available vs. individual options and more. Even when I've purchased produce from them in the past, I've come to see that they somehow rot quicker than when I get them from other places, no matter how well they are kept. With produce being such an important part of our diets, it saddens me to see that higher-quality items aren't put on display and offered at this location. All of my other praises still stand! Aldi is still one of the best places to get a number of items priced lower than other grocery stores. But if you're seeking out produce for your next grocery run, prepare to make another stop before heading home. Original Review: I love grocery shopping. Always have. There's something about being apart of the shelf to table process lol. Although Aldi may not always be my first shopping choice, it's absolutely always at the top. Offering some great deals, their very specific brand and a European shopping experience, I'm definitely an Aldi fan. If you've never been to Aldi, my first tip is to either bring a quarter or a reusable tote or two. This is because carts require a quarter checkout fee but it's returned to you when you return your cart. I usually opt to bring one of my reusable tote bags when picking up a few faves, always comes in handy as that's your bagging option + purchasing a reusable bag in person + paper bagging. This Aldi is incredibly clean and organized, I love that! Each aisle is always stocked and never leave you asking team members what to do. Because Aldi doesn't do competitive products (if you're looking for peanut butter, you'll find one brand!) it's usually a smooth shopping process since you're not going through the indecisiveness I know I do when comparing brands. First time at this location. It was kinda packed so I didn't get to take pictures. They had boxes everywhere, and if you weren't careful you could've tripped over them. Mind you this was later afternoon. Why are there empty boxes just everywhere throughout the store?? Definitely a safety hazard. Even though I did see 1 associate stocking items, there's still no excuse for a lot of empty boxes to be in the way as customers are shopping. Someone seriously could have fallen over them. It wasn't that clean. They were out of alot of items. The associates weren't approachable or warming at all. When we checked out the (white middle age guy) didn't even greet us. When we spoke to him, he didn't look up at us and all he said AS HE SCANNED OUR ITEMS was, "go ahead and put in your in" and I said no, we would like to see our total first. I won't be back to this location. We only stopped because we were in that area. Never again! read more

I usually shop at this Aldi location due to its pricing and convenience, but I often find myself driving to the Decatur location instead because of the way some items are handled at the register. There are two staff members--one a shorter, female-presenting individual and a male who is frequently seated at the register--who don't seem to handle merchandise with much care. While I understand the pressure to keep the line moving, I've noticed that my items are often tossed into the cart, leading to bruised produce and punctured meat products. While efficiency is important, it doesn't seem like it's being balanced with effectiveness or customer care. This is something that might need to be addressed in the future. read more

This is one of the best ALDIs I've seen in the area! The store is clean, organized and well stocked. Staff is friendly and super helpful. They also have a nice variety of brand name foods. Today I actually went shopping for junk food to cheer up a friend. & um... Wow! They had so many goodies I was almost overwhelmed with excitement. I snagged some baddies and grabbed a couple staples for myself from the well sticked FRESH produce section. I'll definitely be back here. 100% recommend if you live nearby. read more

This location was recently renovated and looks much nicer with the renovation. It's a hit or miss with the employees here (some are super nice and helpful, while others not so much). They do keep most of the items in stock, but often times, the store is super messy. Everything else though, I like going to this store for cheap groceries. read more

I always save money on groceries at ALDI. I shop there at least twice a week. I went and picked out several items and was rang up with the total, then realized that I left my card at home, so I went home to get it and ended up going to another grocery store for the same items and when they rang me up it was almost double the amount that I would have paid at ALDI. Make it make sense!!!!! I darn near broke my already injured arm trying to get my groceries to the car. The carts have sensors on them that automatically stop the carts on the way to the parking lot. There aren't signs posted to let customers know and you still have to pay a quarter to get a cart!! This is ridiculous..Does this company have any consideration for the handicapped,elderly, mothers with kids,etc............??? read more

I wanted to write a review for the cashier by the name of Angela. I was in a rush this morning and needed to stop to get my children snacks for the road to head back home to Dallas. She was such a sweet person. She asked me did I find everything ok and I said yes just having a bad morning. I told her my kids are stressing me out. She told me everything gets better and smiled. Food snobs look away from this one. For everyone else...if you believe a penny saved is a penny earned then you're missing out if you don't shop at Aldi. I know it doesn't have the sex appeal of places like Trader Joes or Whole Foods but Aldi sells organic foods too--wallet friendly ones. On Sunday I brought the boy here to teach him a lesson about bargain hunting. The shopping carts are on lockdown outside near the front entrance. In order to get one he had to insert a quarter into the handle to unlock it. It's refundable; when you bring the cart back and re-lock it, the quarter pops out. The deposit gives people an incentive not to leave carts scattered all over the parking lot. Anyway, the first thing you notice when you get inside is that the display looks like a warehouse store. No effort goes into the aesthetics; items are stacked in boxes and on pallets. A banner overhead proclaims that all of the Aldi brand items in-store are free of trans fats, MSG and artificial colors. Good to know. The store is laid out in a way that encourages you to put things into your cart in a certain order. The aisles lead you to non-perishables and canned goods first, followed by produce, refrigerated items, breads and then frozen foods before you reach the checkout. On this visit there was only one lane open which sounds bad but we weren't in line for long. Everything is tagged with multiple barcodes which makes it easier and faster for the cashier to scan them. Once they ring up the groceries they put them back into the basket so you can wheel them over to the bagging counter. It's important to remember that Aldi doesn't offer plastic grocery bags like most stores. You can either bring your own reusable bags or purchase them there. You have to sort and bag everything yourself. This setup annoys some people but it doesn't bother me. The big draw for me is Aldi's SimplyNature product line. They have milk, grass-fed beef, salad greens, cereal, nut butter, coconut oil, tomato sauce, exotic vegetable chips, blue & yellow tortilla chips and more. Many items are even USDA certified organic. I've enjoyed most of the ones I've tried. To be clear, Aldi probably won't meet all of your shopping needs. It's about the size of a drug store and doesn't have nearly the selection of big box grocery stores. But (unless you're a label whore) you can find organic products and other quality staples at a good price. Oh and they take credit cards now. read more

FRESH ORGANIC FOOD Whether fruits , vegetables , meat or dairy ! You have to bring your own bags, but if you don't, you can purchase some at the checkout counter! There are never any long lines waiting at this particular all day which I love so much, especially during a pandemic when you want to just go inside and get what you want and leave. This is my least favorite Aldi out of all the various locations I've been to throughout Georgia. On my visit today, I noticed that there was a new security guard who was standing outside when I pulled up in the parking lot. He stood outside as though he was trying to memorize license plates or something. It was strange. He should have been inside watching to make sure no one was stealing from the store. I do give him credit though. At least he was mobile. One of the previous security guards used to stand at the front of the store looking down at his cellphone, barely looking up. I witnessed this on several different occasions. On one occasion, I saw this same security guard and one of the staff, a large in stature, mulatto female walking toward what seemed to be the office. Something about it just didn't look right. They appeared to be more than co-workers wherein the affairs of the store were the last thing on their mind at least that's how they acted. What a lot of people don't realize is that employees sometimes steal more than the shoppers do. I hope the owners of this store go back and look at their surveillance footage. I have a suspicion that they would be surprised at what they see from those two. read more

Aldi is the ISSSSSH! Glorious bargains and their store brands are phenomenally good. For example, today i got: corn chips aka "Fritos" for $.99 and these really good jalapeno cheddar kettle chips for the same price. i buy all my pantry items there...sugar, flour, brown sugar, oil, peanut butter, jams, oatmeal, butter, sour cream, cream cheese...the list goes on forEVAH! basically, Aldi is a staples kind of place, for me anyway. go there for the basics to stock up on things you always want to have on hand. they have a freezer section with some name brand treats like Skinny Cow. they've got frozen fruits...blueberries, strawberries, etc. for a very reasonable price and some of their frozen appetizers to heat in the oven ain't no slouch, either. they have great cookies and chocolates and many of the stores have wine (Winking Owl) and beer along with some fake Bailey's Irish Creme that i've used for baking and in times of desperation. It's a'ight. OH! they have this quirky section with small appliances and housewares but i'm straight with all that gear. the prices were unbeatable though. once i got a really nice striped canvas patio umbrella for $19.99 and it was even in the spring when you'll never find those things on sale. make sure you bring a quarter though cuz you'll need it to get a shopping cart. you'll get it back when you return the cart. smart thinking, no? plus they charge for bags so you'll want to bring your own. Do you like adding an air of adventure to even the most ordinary experiences? Then grocery shopping with armed guards is for you! ALDI has THE cheapest prices on groceries. As such, it is a very unique cast of characters you will find shopping along with you at this location. As long as you're okay with buying their store brand, you will not be able to find these items at a cheaper price. I bought groceries for the week yesterday, and my total came to $15.31. At Kroger, these items would have come in at closer to $30. Eggs are always $1.09, half a pound of delicious fresh mozzarella is $2.49, three hearts of romaine run $1.99, and sour cream is $0.89. My mother (a die-hard chocoholic) swears by their store-brand chocolate, and at 55 cents, their milk chocolate bars with almonds are a sinful treat with just a little less sin. They're made in Germany (ALDI's home country). Bring your own bags or pay 10 cents for one, remember a quarter for your "deposit" on your shopping cart, and smile at the armed guard protecting you from the hoodrats also looking for a good deal. read more

I love this store.. the produce and veggies here are of great quality and very good cost.. Milk by the gallon is always less than $2.. This is a no frills store they do not carry all the bs that you find in huge supermarkets.. so you will not spend money on impulse shopping..Now the brand names are all from Europe , but if you buy something from there an you do not like it.. you take it back for full refund or exachange.. so you its a win .. win.. you cant loose. Aldi is a german based grocery, so the products they carry are from Europe , they are not off brands they are just brands Americans are not familiar with... I just started shopping at Aldi after moving back to Atlanta. This is the first one I've lived close enough to make it worth the trip and it's become a regular grocery spot in addition to Kroger. There are some really good prices on the basics. Milk is less than $2/gallon all the time. The stock is predominantly store/off brand items but the quality doesn't seem to be lacking and in fact many of the items are superior to Kroger brands. The fresh meat and produce department is a little small but they offer a decent selection of frozen items. For such a small store, they carry a pretty broad selection. The staff has always been exceptionally nice and checkout is always pretty quick even with the usual solo cashier. They charge for bags to encourage customers to reuse. Of course I either forget my bags or stop by unexpectedly. They don't tear you a new one with the bag prices though. They're pretty reasonable. My biggest gripe is the limited store hours. They don't stay open past 7pm and I tend to do my grocery shopping around 10pm for some strange reason. I realize it's kind of ridiculous to expect anybody but Kroger to be open that late. I've also been hassled by a panhandler on the way out to my car but you can't really blame the store for that. The area it's in is 'transitional.' read more

I love Aldi but the amount of litter in their parking lot should make this company ashamed of themselves. They are super environmentally friendly with the fact that they encourage customers to bring their own bags - which is great. You would think the outside area would be clean but it's not. Just looking at the parking lot makes me not want to go in. I work at a restaurant and I know for a fact that it doesn't take much time to clean up the outside daily. read more

There aren't many Aldis in Atlanta yet, and this one is about a 15 minute drive from where I live in Candler/Inman Park. It's usually pretty clean and well stocked. The staff is incredibly friendly. I love Aldi but they have one nasty segment and that is mama cosi italian products with a foul red sauce in their take home and bake pizza and the pizza rolls this sauce has no tomato flavor its more like grease and fat in red paint it taste so nasty you have to throw the stuff right in the trash. Aldi I love you and your value most of your stuff is just great your fish chicken and dairy dairy products are #1 in quality your lunchmeats are super your soda is tasty your ice cream is awesome. I am really grateful for this market. I arrived in Atlanta sick, tired, and in need of food that adhered to my restrictive dietary requirements - but, to my surprise, I was able to get some wonderful, healthy, organic food at this Aldi's, which I had stopped at only because it was the first market I came to. Plus, the cashier was friendly, and the men's room was clean. Just like that, I had my meal, and I was paid up and on my way - manna from Heaven, it felt. I like the employees at this Aldi - they are always friendly, and they are always working to pull products to the floor. They work hard. The parking lot and trash and customers screaming at others is just a product of the area. It IS changing, but unfortunately, change can be slow. "Staples" makes me think about either Mavis the singer, or beig in 3rd grade learning about Manifest Destiny and Wild West settlers. ANYWAY, Aldi is a discount grocery store that is perfect for buying your staples. I stock up on canned mushrooms ($.49), stewed tomatoes ($.45), boxes of instant rice ($.99), big bags of frozen chicken breasts ($5.49), and assorted sundries like granola bars, fruit cups, apple sauce, gallons of milk ($3.29), canned fruit, juice and pop (soda, Coke, whatever you call it!). The quality of their store brands are pretty high for simple things, but they also have a line of gourmet products that are hit or miss. They have a limited fresh produce section, but it includes standards like potatoes, lemons, tomatoes, garlic and the like that you probably pay way too much for at Kroger/Whole Foods. They also have the cheapest stoplight peppers (red, yellow and green bell peppers in a pack) I've seen, at around $2.50. A small, but well stocked fresh meat selection and an extensive frozen foods freezer round out their offerings. They are able to keep prices low because you pay $.10 for bags, or you can use their boxes to pack your groceries (a la Sam's Club or Costco). The store is clean, bright and the staff is extra friendly, taking me directly to a product, or offering a return without question if I was dissatisfied with a product. So, if you're trying to stretch a dollar with the no-brainer groceries, go staple-shopping at Aldi. read more

I just started shopping at Aldi and I found the experience to be really great in term of the prices I received for my items. However, recently I asked a person who I think was the manager a couple questions about how their sales cycle works and she was not nice about answering. She answered my questions, but seemed to be inconvenienced by my asking. Like she had better things she could be doing. I think she is the manager because I seen her a couple time before and she is usually scanning stuff, like she was doing when I asked her my questions or walking around telling people what to do. If she is a manager it just makes the situation all the more sad. My other experiences at the store have been good. I like the low prices, the store usually has the items I want to buy, and the store is clean. I also have not had a problem with anyone else that worked there. read more

I love this AldiI love it's size...I don't need a 3 mile hike to get to the dairy section. I am a picky foodie and the quality of most products are excellent. I read ingredients! They have some brand names but most of their own Aldi 'Select' brands are of a high quality, minimal additives and a reasonable price. Some of their Aldi's brand are extra excellent! They have fresh produce and some organic produce. They have some Select brands that are comparative to 'Gourmet' products! If you don't like the product they give you a double refund. $ and another product! Who does that?! The people that work there are helpful and friendly! Down through the years I've seen different security people standing in the front often on their cell phones. I often think to myself they might miss something on the phone. I don't know if they come from a Security agency or are an employee of Aldi's! My time is precious so I go to Aldi's first. If they don't have it then I will go to a 'Supermarket'. But don't take my word for it....go on to your BIG SUPERMARKET.... don't be crowding up My Aldi's!!! read more

I originally wrote this place off as junk. Any frozen food item tasted like it was 50% salt. They sold stuff that I couldn't imagine any of their patrons buying (expensive exercise machines, breakfast nooks, GPS systems, etc.). I didn't return for a few years. Things have changed a lot since then. The strange extras were replaced with a small produce section and the products have gotten much better. From what I can tell they've eliminated high fructose corn syrup from most if not all of their products. It was replaced with honey, cane sugar, or molasses. The bread selection expanded to include more gourmet varieties. Given that they are a German company it's no surprise they carry high quality chocolate. I've been buying more and more produce here as well. All of it seems to cheaper than Kroger and about the same quality but some things are significantly cheaper. Avocados, red onions, bell peppers, and cucumbers for example. They also have a few organic veggies as well. A recent surprise was the take and bake pizzas. I'd had one from Kroger and was not very happy with it so I went in with low expectations, but I actually liked it, especially at almost half the price. As far as this location goes i don't know that is dramatically different than any other. There are only a few employees at any Aldi store so I'm not surprised that it's the case here. It's part of their business model and one way they keep prices down. I've never felt like I've waited an unusually long time considering the set up of the company. In fact the reason I started shopping here again was when I got tired of standing in line at Kroger. Although there is only one dedicated cashier, a manager will usually come assist if he/she gets behind. The parking lot layout is nice because even the most distant space is still pretty close. If you live in the area and haven't stopped in yet, give them a try. Especially if you love to experiment in the kitchen or are hosting a party. read more

Everyone knows about ALDI or has shopped there, but if you haven't you, it's very similar to it's sister store Trader Joe's on a Dollar Store budget. Bring your own bags, bring a quarter to use their shopping carts, and be amazed at their prices on staples. Their house brands are typically made by the same companies that make Trader Joe's brand goods with even better prices. I'm glad to have this near my house but be prepared, it's not typical of all stores. As other reviewers have commented, it is the only one I have been in with a security guard, and with these bargain prices expect a small wait in the checkouts, they typically have only one cashier. Just don't come here expecting to get in and out quickly. Also bring either your debit card or cash, they don't except credit cards. Again, not your typical ALDI in some respects, but I'm so glad its here on Moreland and can overlook it's shortcomings. read more

My only regret about Aldi is that I didn't clue in sooner. The stores appear small, and at first glance it doesn't appear they have everything you need to buy on an average grocery trip. But in fact, they do have all the basics, including great, fresh produce at prices lower than Walmart and waaay lower than Kroger. They always stock fresh spinach and red bell peppers at standard prices that are ridiculously low. Plus, they have things like hummus (it's very good and exactly half the price of Kroger), jarred pasta sauce (also good and exactly half the price of Kroger), very good quality seafood, and, most obviously, absolutely wonderful European chocolates and sweets. None of the brands are ones you've heard of (a lot of Canadian and European brands), but the quality is very often superior to brands you know. But you do have to tour the store to realize how much they have--they make no effort at displaying things-it's all just set out in boxes or on tables. If you cook and eat at home, you can save hundreds of dollars a year by shopping at Aldi. Plus, they sometimes have these amazing buys on non-food items--like, luxurious fleece blankets (king or queen size) for $20; digital picture frames for $15; ridiculously cheap kitchen appliances; and all these things actually work! read more

I would recommend you do not shop at this location. They have one of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in a grocery store. There fruit is full of mold, and they conveniently will find ways to hide it, but if you start looking through, they will embarrass you in front of other customers, I used to shop here on a weekly basis spending $200.00 each week, but with this experience I will never spend another $1.00. read more

I was a student and the prices was exactly what I needed to keep food on the table. That was in 1976 Germany. Today ! Atlanta/Moreland-Aldi is my store. It's great to hear Clark Howard speak well of Aldi, for I've shopped Aldi more than 20 years in ATL/Metro ATL--way back to there were only 1 or 2 and they only carried dry goods--and no fresh fruits/vegs, meats, dairy, or refrigerated-anything was to be there found--and know 1st hand and very well the savings at hand. They were were mighty dirt- cheap way back then, and even though prices have certainly risen--same as with their competitors--I still get great, and sometimes unbelievable savings...plus they're much easier to find now because they're everywhere. For years, I'd drive quite a distance to shop Aldi, but it was well worth the drive. All in all, apples to apples, oranges to oranges, their prices have consistently been much less to very noticeably lower than their competitors. When they finally did start providing carts, I began making sure I always keep an 'Aldi quarter' in my car. BTW, they do provide bags--for a dime, but they are reusable. They used to have nickle bags, too, but because I usually keep at least one very worn previously-purchased bag in my vehicles, use my own bag, use the boxes they sometimes have available, or roll my cart to my car-empty cart-roll cart back to hook & retrieve my Aldi-quarter, I'm not sure if they still offer the nickle bags or not. Another plus is that it is usually a quick, hassel-free stop. Getting in and out has always been much quicker and easier than shopping at the big boys. Set up is sorta like a really, really small Sams, Costco, Bj, etc. Shopping Aldi's many years and many, many Aldi's all over ATL and in lots other cities--big and small--and I've yet to encounter one that was not spic and span clean. There was a time they closed around 6p and closed Sundays; but now they're open until 'round 8p M-Sa, and close a bit earlier on Sundays.
