Not a lot of merchandise. Prices are good. Not a lot of variety. Not a lot of proudce. Off brands.

Their produce is almost always fresh. And is priced lower than other grocery stores. Also better prices on eggs, milk and cheese.

Aldi has a number of products that equal any of those found at Wally World, Publix, Winn Dixie, etc. However, shop carefully. For example, their baked beans, every 4th, 6th or perhaps even the 8th can has product that looks like something with which you'd slop the hogs. Their dairy is good, but the expiration date isn't always accurate. For example, their milk may say 10-31-19, but it'll likely go sour on 10-29-19. Hot dogs, save ther Nathan brand, not so good, either. Paper products, freezer bags & the like, eh, so-so. QC isn't always a priority when price drives the marketing. Subject: Daytona's new Aldi Yes and no! Good morning, For the most part I really like your store. It's about time someone gives Walmart a run for their money. I was there to buy some fruits and veggies, particularly tomatoes! I picked up the first box only to discover a bad one so I picked p up the next good looking one. To my surprise and horror I was attacked by rotten tomatoe juice running down my arm. Ugh yuk I shared my experience with a few friends and the one comment was: "Love the store, but the selection of fruits and veggies leaves a lot to be desired." One lady said she told the associate in the area that the box of tomatoes was rotten and then watched her return the rotten box to the shelf. Aldi has some of the best prices. While visiting some family in the area we needed to pick a few things up for the dinner we had planned for that night and since we already loved the Aldi in Augusta, Georgia we decided that we needed to find one in Daytona Beach. We were super excited that we found it--though it was a bit out of the way. This location had prices that were just a great as the one that we were used to. The store was clean and throughout the building there were large baskets filled with empty boxes that you could use to pack your purchases in. That is a great idea! Low frills, low prices. Yes, you pay a deposit for the cart (note you do not lose your quarter like some other uninformed reviewer below believes, but you do get your quarter back when you return the cart). A small inconvenience to keep prices down. The same uninformed reviewer had difficulty using a credit card (maybe it kept getting declined? Likely for someone who has time to waste loading a shopping cart with no intention to buy.), but ALDI does accept credit cards and I use one without issue every time. As the saying goes, you often get what you pay for. If you are looking for better quality produce and dairy, then don't shop at a bargain barrel establishment. That being said, their food passes as food and is probably on par with store brands at other retailers. They do have noteworthy specialty pre-packaged cheeses, hummus, and Greek yogurt that are competitively priced, as well as European-sourced jams and chocolates. The store could arguably be better located, especially if they are trying to compete with higher-end grocers for organic and specialty items. It is not located in the best area and you must go "across the tracks" to get to the oasis that attracts middle-class spendthrifts from throughout the area. Perhaps another location in Ormond Beach or Port Orange wouldn't hurt. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Overall, if you are a picky consumer, you may not buy all they offer, but if you enjoy saving a few dollars and don't mind the location, it may be worth the trip. read more

Both the Aldi on Nova in Daytona and the Aldi on Granada in Ormond have very good products, fresh vegies, and low prices. Service? You don't go to Aldi's to be waited on, but every employee is happy to help if you ask. I shop at Aldi's because of great pricing, small portions and I have been searching for a good pie and for a good jelly or jam that don't list "sugar" as their first 1,2,3 ingredients. Found it here. The blackberry and the raspberry 75% fruit is tart and excellent! We tried a cherry pie and, WOW! (eating it right now). Tart and filled with real cherries!! Imagine that Publix, Winn Dixie, Walmart! Real fruit! Sugar is in the pie and the jams but, way down the list. I frequently find 100% juices with exotic fruits, inexpensive pretzels, and down-to-earth prices on good cheeses. No, its not going to win service awards because the cashiers actually work! (I believe they're on time clocks) and no free carts or bags (bring your own bag you cheapskates or, find an empty box....) I imagine they keep their prices down because the few employees they do have actually hustle! (It used to be called work but nobody seems to put in effort anymore). They gonna need more re-stocker's! Recently I visited this store as I've heard of several them located around New York state. I walked in and was a little taken back that i had to pay a quarter to use the shopping cart. Seems to sound like they have bigger problems with cart theft than Walmart charging for cart usage. After spending a little over an hour in the store I decided to head for the check out lane. After the lady rung up my groceries I proceeded to swipe my card to pay for my groceries and I was then told that they don't accept credit cards. WTF kind of store in the 21st century doesn't accept a credit card? Well apparently ALDI doesn't, needless to say I just decided to leave and let the store employees take care of all the food items and put them back. Its place like these that are victims of their own misery. So a week later I was bored and decided to have some fun with these guys at the store again and went around the store a grabbed a bunch of cold/freezer items and a few gallons of milk and other odds and ends and after a short while I then headed back to the checkout as my ice cream was almost melted and I had the cashier ring up my order, did I forget to mention I had my trusty credit card with me again? Well they told me they don't accept credit cards, to which I said, ok and walked out of the store again. Leaving them out the cost of the items that went bad in the Florida heat. **Overall, places like these remind me of "Spirt Airlines" they have low cost options but over price you on commodities. The food prices are relatively cheaper then some stores but then charging for shopping carts and bags is where they get you unless you bring your own and don't allow the usage of credit cards. By far, my favorite grocery store. I especially like deals on their frozen lasagna ($2.50 per box versus $8 for Stouffer's at Walmart), Millville protein granola bars ($2 for 5 bars versus $3.50 for 5 bars at Walmart), eggs ($0.79 per dozen at Aldis versus $2.25 at Walmart), and wine ($2.97 a bottle of Winking Owl versus $3.29 at Walmart). Store is well-organized, clean, and welcoming. Dont forget to bring your own bags (or you can purchase them for a quarter) or grab cardboard boxes from the shelves to haul your groceries for free! The worst part about this store is the neighborhood it's in. It took me a few years to finally start shopping here because of the location, but I'm glad I finally did. I don't go after dark. You really can save about 50% off of your grocery bill if you shop here. I have found the produce, fresh chicken, cheese, milk, frozen fish, and pantry items to be excellent deals. Avoid name brand items here which are few and not very competitively priced. Also check labels on cans/jars as some products that appear to be made in Germany with a German flag on the label reveal that they're actually produced in China or India when you look at the back of the label with a note: "Inspired by Germany". I also don't buy beef here mostly because it doesn't say "Grade A", but I'm going to have to research this further. This is a good place for people and families on a limited budget. If you cook from scratch and avoid canned/prepared foods, you can eat healthfully and cheaply here. Check it out! It's too bad that people complain about needing a quarter for the carts. With this system, the carts are always left in their place and available, instead of being strewn around the parking lot. If they didn't have this system, the carts would be pushed to people's homes or to the edges of the parking lot if a stop-system was in place for the carts. In this part of town this is absolutely the case. To the person who came back and filled a cart with ice cream and other perishable goods knowing already that they don't take credit cards only to leave the food and walk out as it was spoiling: SHAME ON YOU. Wasting food to prove what point? I vacationed around Europe and was amazed at the number of supermarkets that didn't take credit OR debit - CASH ONLY. Also in NYC many establishments do not take credit cards. Not everyone wants to pay the fees. Anyway, who doesn't have a DEBIT card these days? Transients maybe. ALDI takes cash, debit, and food stamps. Anyone who knows anything about operating a business and accepting credit cards knows about chargebacks. If ALDI had to deal with potential chargebacks and payment processor fees, I'm certain prices would go up. read more

I have shopped at Aldis for many years being from western N.Y. I retired and moved to Florida and was THRILLED that Aldi opened stores near me. First off it is helpful to know how Aldis operates..the charge of .25 for a shopping cart is returned to you when you return the cart. This practice keeps the carts returned and not left in the parking lot to be blown into your vehicle. Second you may bring your own bags, pick up empty cartons in the store or pay a small fee to purchase a reusable bag. This practice keeps litter to a minimum and helps the environment. Big news flash you do pay for bags from other grocery stores the charge is hidden in the higher costs of all good purchased in those stores. Third Aldis does take debit cards in this day and age who doesn't have a debit card? Lower costs and great products. Do your homework save money while buying superior products. I have not been in an ALDI since I lived in MI. I was on my way home and stopped at this store to see what they had. I was amazed at the cleanliness and brightness of the store. I decided to try a few items. Imagine my surprise to see that they carry gluten free bread!!! I bought a load, just to see if it is better than what I currently eat. It is bigger and better tasting! Their Clancey;s potato chips are light and not greasy. I also bought a head of lettuce and a tomato which were delicious. The hams looked good, but I had already bought one for Easter dinner! I will be coming back again and again. And.........I could use my debit card! Wonderful! I am impressed! Oh, the staff was very knowledgeable and courteous, too! This store is a winner!! read more
