First timer here. I was kinda surprised how it looked inside, made me feel as if I was on a set of a fake grocery store lol. Barely any workers on the floor and if you did see one they were stocking. The food prices aren't bad at all. I like how they had everything I needed, but still not many options. The "fresh" meats was nearly empty but frozen items were mostly stocked. One thing I can say is they had plenty of options to choose from if you plan to make a charcuterie board, loved that. One of the cheeses I was looking at though had mold on it!! It said smoked cheddar but I examined the others and come to find out that thing was moldy! Also no bags you would need to purchase a tote or an insulated bag, so bring your own. They check you out and quickly throw everything in your cart, so you'll need to stand off to the side to bag everything. It was late night so I'm not going to stand outside to bag my items. Well good thing I didn't because as I was putting my groceries away, some creepy man drove slowly beside me as I was putting my items in the trunk of the car and we had the most devilish smile on his face just smiling at me slowly driving. I got so creeped out I rushed and threw everything inside. Didn't even get to chance to return my cart for my quarter back lol. Be safe out there! It's a dark and empty lot. read more

I've been frequenting here for my main grocery shopping the past 2 weeks. I love ALDI for seasonal shopping with fall and Christmas being the best for holiday food goodness. The in stock items have improved dramatically since my last review. A good selection of fresh produce at great prices. Today they had fresh cilantro for $.29 when it's normally $.79. Their boxed mixed grapes is a new favorite of mine. They always taste perfectly sweet, plump and fresh for just under $7. Today's perturbance for me was that they had stacked 3 plastic bread crates at an angle blocked buns. So the first top row buns were completely smashed. I wish I snapped a photo but I didn't. I also love cider and saw the Wicked Grove Plum Hard cider last week. I decided to pick it up today for $7.99 after watching some YouTube reviews where people said it was really good. The store is clean. There was a bit of a line forming this Sunday afternoon but after a few minutes a second cashier opened up. There were a lot of things I wanted to pick-up like the Bolthouse Farms Egg Nog but I will have to wait for next week because I was trying to stick to my budget. Don't ask about a price for something not marked, could take ten minutes to get an answer. May or may not go back. My partner lives in New York, and she absolutely loves Aldi. I've been with her a few times, and really fell in love with the place also. So, when I found out that there was one in Fresno, I drove down from the Sacramento area just to shop here. I was very happy. The place is bright and clean, and had a lot of great items. Everybody was friendly. Most of the things that Aldi carries is their own brand, which is oveall reasonably priced. If you want to get the name brand, you will pay a bit more. A few of the things I got were both a vegetable soup and a German potato soup. Both of them were excellent. The cans were very large. I got three servings out of them. I got some chicken/cheese mini empanadas, I got a cauliflower and cheese instead of a mac & cheese, and I got Aldi's version of Cheerios. All excellent. I got some stuffed pasta and marinara sauce, which was very good. The only thing I didn't really care for was the jarred Alfredo sauce. It kind of had a funny taste. I could definitely tell that it came from a jar. I added some salt and pepper on my own, and I also added a little bit more milk. That made the taste more palatable. That was the only thing out of this trip that I would not buy again. Other than that one item, everything that I got was very good. The prices were reasonable. ALDI, ALDI, ALDI. I love shopping at ALDI. It's probably been about 5 years now since I discovered this wonderful grocery store in Bixby Knolls, and then they opened one up closer to me on Anaheim and WOW! I really look forward to shopping at ALDI, whether here in California or somewhere in Arizona, the prices are super wonderful, the selection is huge and it's an enjoyable outing for me every week. This is the only place to buy fresh eggs, which is so much cheaper than competing markets. I enjoy the veggies (even organic), cheese, the veggie crackers, the probiotic drinks, cashew nuts, the meats and seafood, (they offer wild caught and not just farmed stuff), their wines are nice too, and the people are super friendly and helpful. Such a wonderful environment and easy to get in and out! Shout out to Jennifer, the manager at the new location on Anaheim, always helpful and willing to help the customers. Don't forget your quarter to "rent" your shopping cart- and after you've shopped and packed your vehicle, you return your shopping cart, and your quarter comes back to you! Smart way to keep carts from gathering in the parking lots and dinging people's vehicles. ALDI, keep on providing a wide variety of food, household things and wonderful customer service! read more

I like the store and even the well laid out parking lot which is spacious. There's definitely some great pricing on some items and SOME good quality. But other offerings are 'throw in the trash' lower quality knock-offs that I'd prefer to send to a homeless shelter or something. The cheese is one of those offerings. I made a yummy chili and wanted to shred an extra sharp Cheddar on top. Thankfully I tested this purchase the night before and understood immediately that it was going in the trash. That's okay, now I know. Likewise with the sour cream and cheddar chips...although I ate them, and they served that 'I want to eat a crappy unhealthy snack' urge, I would never get them again... I'm okay with that as both these items were essential the 'probes' I used to sample the overall quality of the offerings, the bell weathers.... They excel on the other stuff, beans, veggies, fruits and those prices are remarkable. In conclusion, quality is subjective and you may have to hunt for select items that meet your standards/expectations. So glad they're here, generating traffic, the improvement of that corner and the the destruction of that roach infected strip mall that previously occupied the lot. Aldi is what it is. You might not be able to find everything you would get at another grocery store, but they have a lot of stuff, although not consistently. There are good deals to be had, so if you're not picky about brands or selection, Aldi works fine. If you need a full service grocery store, go somewhere else. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood, ALDI! You get my vote. Although grand opening was just yesterday, 012821, and the store was busy I was able to run in and grab what I needed and checkout in less than 10 minutes! All registers open - that's the way to do it! While you won't find an abundance of name brands, you will find an abundance of savings! Nice looking produce and great prices. Smaller selection of, well, everything. It's a small store. But in the neighborhood! Milk was less than $2 for a half gallon. Friendly staff. Congratulations to the clerks at Aldi on W. Shaw!!! We were there this afternoon getting a couple of things and just about to check out when the clerk bolted to the door to catch a lady walking out with 3 large totes bags full of things she was trying to steal. He caught her and they struggled for the bags. A couple of customers chimed in to scold the lady for stealing, but another lady was siding with the thief trying to get the clerk to let her go. After several minutes she finally gave up the bags, but it was quite a struggle for the clerk. Hooray for the clerk! So sad that so many stores now just let people walk out without paying for their goods. Like the customer shouted to this lady today, "You should be ashamed of yourself! You're stealing and causing store prices to go up for everyone else!" We should all be shouting this to people we see stealing! And we should vote for people who promise to change the laws that make it of no consequence to steal from stores, and essentially from all of us who pay higher prices everyday. read more

Who ever does the ordering for this store has their head squarely placed up their butt. I have never been in a store that is more inconsistent in stocking regular items than this one. It's almost like they are a Grocery Outlet, as in if you see it buy as much as you can because you never known when they will have it again.  Another issue with this store is how the employees could care less about their handicapped customers. The electric carts are always broken and you lose your quarter if you cant walk the cart back to the stalls. There is no one there to help you.  Also they place huge displays in the aisles blocking wheelchair or walker access.  It's funny how bad this place is managed compared to the store in Clovis. I was in today and at 930am one whole row of shelves were empty. Cant they stock over night away from the customers? The ruin tge whole shopping experience. ALDI is a top notch grocery chain that is much needed in the Fresno market. With only a handful of US based (some hyper local) chains, ALDI breaths a breath of European culture into the Central Valley. Don't forget to bring your quarter to unlock your cart; this keeps the costs low as they don't have to pay for a cart wrangler. Don't expect florists, coffee shops, and banks inside like American stores. This also keeps the costs down and that coupled with cardboard boxes with punch out sections which act as their own display cases, ALDI can deliver high quality products at prices unbeatable by the traditional competition! read more

This is my third time returning to the store because of the convenience of where it is located. However, each time there has only been one cashier. I even posted about this on Google. This place does not improve as time goes on. They don't even have a quick check out lane open. Only one cashier is swamped with all of the customers. Management definitely needs help. It is highly annoying to go shopping and start returning all of the items because the checkout only has one cashier for a large store. **Customer service is practically nonexistent** For new shoppers who come here, the system of putting in a quarter into your shopping cart in order to do your grocery shopping is extremely inconvenient. I had to ask a person unloading their groceries in the parking lot if I could use their shopping cart afterwards. I didn't have any loose change on me?? I almost couldn't even obtain a shopping cart. While I was shopping, there were a lot of unhappy customers waiting forever in line (there were five people = five grocery carts, in total), because they only had one cashier working. If there are five checkout lanes, how can there only be one open?? When I got to the checkout line, cashier could barely communicate to me. When I asked her if she could let me slide in my debit card a second time, she didn't pay attention to me, and when she did reply, all she said was a "yes" in a very snappy tone. The worst part of this experience was that I had to bag my groceries out in the parking lot because they didn't have a bagging station. From beginning to end, the most unpleasant grocery shopping experience for me, hands down, ever. read more

A blonde haired lady (checking me out at the register, who didn't even wear a name tag) gave me a dirty look and a lot of unnecessary attitude for not putting those items on the belt. Last time I went to Aldi was in Wisconsin about 10 years ago . On my cross country trip, I went to Aldi's in Fresno twice the last 2 days and both times the stores were clean, cheap and easy checkout. I also went to the foodmaxx on blackstone and the product quality was night and day. found some good austrian chocolate as well as great organic produce. cheese slices were only a $1.39 compared to the 3.47 for Kraft. Aldi's is a great store, and I use a lot for simple staples, their cheese is great, and you have a lot of choice. Their meat selection is ok, and many times I can't find the coffee creamer, etc. I like, but over all good! Many things are in German, but also in English. Great products, but in all things, you need to be selective. The cut the middle man, and I've save big on the items I purchase. Aldi opened in the latter part of January 2021 and finally this August I took my first visit. This simplistic utilitarian store is clean and has great product selections. It definitely has that German feel even down to the sausage and Gouda cheese. You can't beat some of the prices. Fresh strawberries for $1.78 -- they are the smaller ones but doesn't matter if they taste good. Plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, pastries, breads, cheeses, dairy, dry and frozen foods. There was a nice assortment of booze and household items, including folding tables, beach towels, and candles, as well. The checkout was simple and the cashier simply scans and places items back in the cart. They don't give out bags so bring your own. You can buy one for 10 cents that is strong plastic with handles. They do have Apple Pay so it was a quick and simple transaction. Bring a quarter to rent a shopping cart, which is refunded upon return. I guess this is a way to keep product prices low when they don't have to hire extra employees to fetch carts left in the parking lot by lazy customers. Great idea and I'm surprised more Fresno stores don't use this system to help manage carts. It's sad to me to see people giving it poor reviews expecting cheap prices and it to be like Whole Foods or something. This is a discount store. Worst service ever..The assistant manager was at a regester throwing stuff away. I went to ask him a question. I start to ask, he tells me go over there. Meaning to the cashier who is checking someone out..I say I just need to know where something is. He's says it again and goes back to sorting through and throwing stuff away. He was a complete jerk..The store had all of 4 customers in it. I can see why. There was no reason to act that way..Another employee saw the interaction and came up to me and said he would help me. If I could give this useless business zero I would. I paid for curbside pickup. I parked at the designated parking lot for pickup & let the store know through the ALDI app that I arrived. After waiting for 20 minutes to have my groceries delivered I received a message that said I need to pickup my order from the store. Why did I pay a fee for curbside pickup only to enter the store? It's because of Covid that I used the curbside pickup service. Typical ALDI, there was only two employees, the useless cashier didn't even speak to me, he asked an Asian man for help. To his credit the young Asian employee was nice & apologized but he seemed more concerned that I was going to steal the shopping cart. I will not shop at ALDI anymore! The store is poorly stocked, there are hardly any employees & as someone posted there is no hand wipes as you deposit your quarter into the carts outside. I've shopped at ALDI on Monday - no items was stocked same goes for the rest of the week. The items they sell are good but it's not worth the hassle of finding a quarter & dealing with substandard service. The management doesn't care about the customers or their employees. The cashiers throw your items into the cart. I would rather have a self checkout. ALDI is resembling a gulag reeducation camp or a Cuban market where dictators are managing the store. I doubt the management will read any of the reviews, they could care less about their customers. I don't have a problem with paying for the cart considering the street people outside the store.
