This is my home store and I love it! For the good and the bad. Winco (almost) always has fresh produce and good prices. The good: ample parking, never run out of carts, people are friendly, good prices, always stocked. The bad: stay away between the 1st-10th because it's way too packed, they stock at night and boxes are always in the way, long lines sometimes, very loud beeping or ringing randomly scares you. All in all a great store! I'm glad they're open 24hrs and I understand they have to stock but it can be really annoying if I have to do a late night trip. So I try to avoid that. read more

Friends have been telling me you need to shop here, prices are incredible! I figured it would be too big and too crowded to be worth a trip there for a household of one. I had went there to make a money order and before I went inside I had counted the money that I was going I was going to use half cash and half and when I gave it to the lady @ customer service she said I'm short like how am I short if I counted it right before I got there so I literally ask to of the managers for the camera they didn't let us see it but they were trying to say that we had the wrong amount and if anything there short on there register like wtf I missing 40$ and you guys are saying you don't have it or anything the lady prolly pocket it into her pocket or something so I don't recommend coming here for money orders even if it's cheap..! I love this store. It has a great selecrion of items and is laid out well. This store truly sets itself apart with their bulk bins. I shop these and save a ton on basic pantry needs. They also have amazing pizza dough they make and sell. We love making donuts out of them. The staff have always been very helpful and friendly but, you'd expect that since the store I employee owned. I live life with a service dog and we rarely have issue with fakes in here. 4 paws up for safety and cleanliness. read more

Yesterday was the 3rd time this happened to me. They put a price on the item, by the time you are with the cashier, the price change! For example: Apple Fuji were yesterday at $1.28 per pound, and the cashier charged at $3.99 per pound!. Bananas, $1.49 per pound, cashier: $2.99 per pound! Obviously I asked, she called for assistance, and they said that effectively the prices were the ones I mentioned, BUT that they couldn't give me that price because those WEREN'T ON THE SISTEM!!! [Review #749 2023-035 My husband has crossed over from GO to WinCo Foods as his go-to market when we're visiting my aunt. Why the change? We've noticed a lot of expired products being sold, even though we still get great deals on the fresh, it was just easier to shop at a regular grocery store. We're usually here for the (breakfast) basics: milk, bread, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, & the bulk bins (nuts, dried fruits, candies). And self check-out is fast & easy; we rarely go over 15 items. However, on this recent trip, my cousin suggested their fried chicken meal. She says it's better than KFC. Was it? Yes & no... we came on a Sunday afternoon during lunch, & they had orders backed up to Timbuktu (sort of; it was an hour wait). Seeing that my aunt has to eat on a certain schedule, we called to ask if lunch can wait until 1-ish. I ordered the 24-pc. meal, includes 4 1-lb. options: potato or macaroni salad, coleslaw, or fried potato wedges, & a tray of King's Hawaiian rolls (not listed on the menu as an accompaniment). It was a chaotic at the deli counter for the pick-up since there's no specific lines on placing or picking up your order. I waited off to the side to see what the locals were doing & followed suit (instead of waiting in the long line again). When the server presented our order, I asked where are my sides? And he said we didn't tell him & flung his hand toward the menu. By asking, I was told the sides can be mixed & matched vs. getting 1-lb. each (I'm not a fan of coleslaw). It's a 15-min. drive back. While the chicken was still hot, the condensation made the skin somewhat soggy. Decent flavor, but can't say they're better than KFC (their chicken holds up better for takeout). The macaroni & potato salads had a bit too much mayo, with the mac salad on the watery/wet side. The potato wedges, like the chicken, was a bit limp from the condensation; otherwise, nicely seasoned & tasty. While I like the bulk bins for their offerings & competitive prices, I'm concerned about the cleanliness since I've seen some lids still opened. Did the previous shopper forget to close it? Did someone "taste" the item with his/her hand? Prices are somewhat lowered than the branded grocers. Shelves are well-stocked, but it's hard finding help in between aisles, if needed, so you'll either head up to the cashiers or head back to the deli (not recommended because they're super busy & appears short-staffed). I've been shopping there for years and a lot of these reviews are the same thing. Everyone that works at night thinks it's OK to scream across the grocery store at their coworkers. This is unacceptable. Plus there was a line for me with 20 people and one cash register was open And all the employees waiting to get off of work or sitting by the clock time clock they could've like told somebody to go and get on the cash register. We bag our own groceries which is completely fine, but when we (customers) choose to spend our money at your store at least be courteous enough to smile or say hello. On Saturday afternoon we did some grocery shopping at this store-actually we came in for bread & milk yet left with about 30 more items. Sound familiar? All checkouts were busy except for one & a man came to open it up. I don't remember his unique name but his name tag said he was Store Manager. On the hunt to get an item like or bread to go with the lunch I'm cooking. The store is LARGE! Safe, clean and organized pretty well! Masks worn by workers and required! I planned on getting only a couple things, but, after seeing all the good stuff and great deals, I bought much more! ;) I was honestly impressed with all they had! Many workers greeted me and asked if I needed any help too! Really great! I ended up getting cheesecake rolls they had along with cinnamon, strawberry muffins, ginger tortilla strips for salads, no sugar added hot chocolate, protein bars, breakfast burritos, breakfast lean cuisines, Sweetie's favorite wet food, wheat pita bread, etc. Great service and store! Avoid LATOYA at all cost!!!!! I write this letter to inform you of a horrific experience that I had at the WinCo store #0059 located at 4488 W. Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93722, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at approximately 12:40 PM. I must preface this complaint with the fact that I am a very frequent customer at this WinCo Store. I can be found shopping for myself and my family or for my elderly mother at a minimum of three times per week, every week. There are several employees that I am familiar and friendly with. Those who are exceptionally friendly, professional and personable are: Kwasi, Odell, Salazar, Lorraine, Lori, Henry, Christine and Frankie, just to name a few. What happened on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 was anything but my typical WinCo shopping experience. I came to the store to purchase several items for my mother and a few for myself. As it was two days prior to Thanksgiving, I expected the typical holiday business, accompanied by longer than usual lines. My 17 year old daughter was with me as we found all the needed items for our family and for my mother. We searched for the shortest line of course, and decided upon a cashier by the name of "Latoya". I typically use the self-check-out, but I had more than 15 items and Christine runs a tight ship in that regard, most certainly at this time of year. Latoya was just finishing up with two customers, both bagging their items on the two available conveyor belts. I began by informing her, that I would hand the items and call out the quantities if there were more than one of an item. As she scanned the first item, I asked her not to place it on the belt, but to simply hand it back to me. All three of her belts were extremely dirty, wet and had older, dried, unsightly substances on them. She wasted no time through her non-verbal communication with me, of rolling her eyes, sighing heavily and NOT handing the item back to me, but rather "flinging it" to her left back onto the conveyor belt for me to retrieve. She took the opportunity to apologize to the Hispanic couple behind me by saying, "I'm sorry, but this is gonna' be a while." After this back and forth game, with four or so items, of me handing them to her and her refusal to simply hand them back to me, she abruptly came from around the register to my cart and proceeded to grab my items out of the cart and scan them. To which, I immediately informed her that there were two separate orders. She then yelled at me questioning which items she had scanned were together. When I attempted to tell her which items were not on the first order, and that she had combined them, she quickly retorted back, "Ill take 'em off! What else?!, What else is on this order?!?!?" She went back around to her side of the register, and continued to scan my items, yell at me and slide them quite roughly back onto the conveyer belt to her left. Throughout the entire process, she grabbed my items, flung my items, snapped at me and was an absolute nightmare to deal with. The more impatient and rude she was, the calmer and more deliberate I was in choosing the items in the cart so as to not get confused as to which items were my family's and which were my mother's. With the conclusion of my orders, I said, thank you, and got no response. I said, Happy Thanksgiving, and still no response. My daughter was in awe of how horrible the encounter with Latoya had been. I proceeded to go over to customer service where Lorraine was her usual happy and friendly self, tending to needy customers making returns. I had the opportunity to speak with Kwasi about my experience. He told me that he would take care of it. I spent years in customer service in corporate positions and I'm fully aware of steps that can be taken to deescalate an irate customer and how the customer is always right, being a fundamental position to take. However, this was not the case in my situation. The employee, not the customer, was rude, combative, aggressive, argumentative and completely unprofessional! There was comfortability and a confidence that Latoya displayed in her disregard for me as a customer that gave me the impression she does this often and gets away with it. I have a five member family, three children that I homeschool and my mother who is a senior living alone, that I spend lots of time helping, running errands and shopping for. Writing this letter has taken me time, that I really don't have to spare, but this horrific experience with your employee warranted my expending the time and energy to write and send this letter. Not only is a formal written reprimand necessary, but I would suggest some additional mandatory training classes or refresher classes in customer service. So many people in general will not take the time to voice a grievance or mistreatment by someone providing a service. I came here with my friend, a Fresno resident, who shops here often. My friend had to buy supplies and ingredients for her pastry chef husband. The store itself is plain and industrial looking in scope. Nothing special. WinCo employees are difficult to find on the floor. I was impressed by the rice and bean section where shoppers can help themselves to however much one needs according to weight and measure. My friend loves this section too. We had difficulty looking for specialty cheeses for our tiramisu dessert. Quite difficult to find. We bothered a WinCo employee, unfortunately on her break, to ask about specialty cheeses. She directed us to a small refrigerated section we couldn't have found without her help. All in all, we found what we needed for our pastry chef. read more

5 Star Customer Service all because of an employee by the name of Angel. I did a really stupid thing and locked my keys in my car @ 2am. I have just left WinCo, today on West Shaw for the last time. I have shopped at their stores since relocating here from SoCal in 2000. I have a Certified Emotional Support (small) dog. He was in his small bed-like cushion sitting quietly, in the cart, (pictured example within this post) not bothering anyone, when an employee walked up to say that my dog could not ride within the cart, "it's unsanitary" was exactly what I was told. Hmm, let's see. I have seen babies in carts wearing diapers with "stuff" oozing out, children who jump into the cart with their dirty-a$$ shoes on. But my dog was responsible for creating a sanitation issue. I spoke to a manager-like person as I was exiting. His unintelligent response was to raise his arms as as though to say "beats me" and to smile. He offered no explanation, NOT-A-THING. A good manager owns every situation that comes across. This individual did not seem to care at all. A no hair, black gentleman, no doubt about it, here is a manager who needs retraining on how best to handle disgruntled customers. As we spoke, there children climbing into carts making my point. As a former national sales trainer for Michelin Tire, this is one of over a dozen courses I have created with great success. It's a tossup between which employees to ask a question of where something is located. I've spoken to some that were polite and helpful and I've spoken to employees that were the direct opposite. That doesn't bother me as much but what does are the ridiculously loooooong lines. Why? I mean lines so long people have a hard time navigating the front isle just to get to the bread section. And it seems only 2 or 3 checkouts are open at one time even when it's super busy. Efficiency is not a priority at all for this grocery store. For the most part every time I shop there 95 percent of the time it ends in frustration. I pretty much have lowered my expectations of a good experience before I walk in the door. My goal is to get in and out! Get it together WinCo on W Shaw...That's about it. read more

Where to begin... I primarily shop for groceries here or at Food Maxx. Depends on which is closer and what I need. It's located next to Costco which is a nice complement to your shopping if you have a membership there. It's open 24 hours just like Food Maxx, which is a major plus if you need something or want to shop late at night. It does get pretty busy at certain times or days like Sunday's for example. Their produce prices and pretty much everything is reasonably and competitively priced. Their produce is pretty good for the most part. There are times when some items don't look that good, but I think that's common at most places unless you're at a more expensive grocery store. They have a pretty good selection of bulk items in bulk bins and containers ranging from candy to spices and food mixes to dog food. They even have fresh honey and various nut butters available. I've always been hesitant about bulk bins mainly because of kids and their grimy hands, but bulk bins are cost effective and let you buy the exact amount of something that you need which I find quite nice. Especially if I'm trying a new recipe or something and don't want to commit to or need a lot of a certain ingredient. Some of the items are in containers with pull down handles so there's no scooping or cross contamination. I'd say just use your own judgement when it comes to buying in bulk. I do occasionally see kids eating candy, but what's more annoying is when their parents encourage or allow it and I see them eating it too. They're not free sample bins people! Winco recently did some remodeling in their deli area. They got rid of the single circular open cold box with a prep area in the middle of it and put in a few single open cold boxes and a new sushi making area. It's like mini aisles and you can walk around them and it flows much nicer with the space. Not too long ago they started selling freshly made in house sushi, but now they have a nice area where you can watch them make it. I'm not quite sure what they changed in the main deli kitchen area though. They have a pretty good deli section. They sell grilled and fried chicken which is quite popular and runs out around dinner time. I'm a big fan of their fried chicken. They have a good sized bakery section with various baked goods like cinnamon rolls, brownies, cakes and cookies. They also sell individual fresh bagels and muffins too. They don't accept credit cards here. Probably to keep costs down, but they accept cash, debit and checks. The checkout lines can get pretty long so just be prepared for that. They also offer self checkout as well if you're into that. They have a small cafe up front near the exit that sells fresh pizza by the slice or whole and I think sandwiches too. I've never eaten anything from there before, but their prices are reasonable and it's convenient if you need a quick bite after shopping. read more

WinCo is one of my favorite stores to shop at. You cannot beat the dirt cheap prices on all items here. I have not had any bad experiences here and they are open 24 hours a day. The lines can get pretty long however it goes by fast and cashiers are really helpful and talk to you. However, when attempting to locate items they can work better on and having more floor employees available, it takes a while to track down someone for assistance. When in check out the cashier will sometimes ask you if you want to purchase bags or not. Sometimes, they will let you slide. I like consistency but it feels nice to not pay .10 for bags sometimes. WinCo only accepts cash, checks and debit, no credit. I would recommend to come early in the mornings or really late at night to beat the crowds and lines, don't go on Sundays! Always packed. They have a pizza place there called Leonardi's Pizza which is very delicious. They have deals on Tuesdays per slice. As a kid my dad would buy me a pizza slice since I always went grocery shopping and it's nice to have a quick bite after all that food shopping! The Deli items are yummy too. I like their fried chicken and General Tso chicken as well. They have some Deli items packaged that are discounted which is a steal. I highly recommend to come to WinCo if you want to save money on food and see your money go further, you won't regret it! read more

Manager "Kwasi" refused me service when I complained about an elderly woman (I am a senior also) walking around and fondling produce and other products without a mask. He took her to the head of the line and had them check her out. I asked "what is the matter, are you afraid of loosing a customer?" In my opinion he (and Winco) have an obligation to protect ALL of the other patrons as well. Will never go there again and will try to discourage anybody else going also. read more

WinCo isn't in my neighborhood so I don't get here very often. I always loved to get little bags of all kinds of candy from those bulk food barrels! Just stopped in for some brats and buns this evening. As I walked past the produce I noticed some monster black cherries. Like the premium ones I get at Costco. Anyway, they were only $1.98 a pound and they were absolutely delicious! The brats and buns were very reasonably priced. Super wide aisles which is great at a busy store. I've shopped here for years, but I was really irritated when I went through the checkout lane yesterday. When it was our turn to check out, Jacob rudely asked us to "Wait a second", and left the station. Five minutes later he returned and then announced, "Wait just another second". Both times, he headed out to the store area as if he was searching for something. He made us wait another 2 minutes before returning. He was wearing his mask way below his nose during the entire time. When I requested that he put up his mask, he nastily refused. When I tried to take this issue the Customer service representative, she defended him, telling me, "He probably just was tired of wearing his mask". No apology. Did not care that I am a senior and immune compromised. REALLY? This clerk could not cover his nose for just the time it took to check me out? Why even wear the mask if it is exposing the nose the whole time? Does this employee owned store even care enough about the health of it's customers to require a vaccine mandate for it's workers? In spite of being a loyal customer of this store for years, I'm seriously considering finding another local store to fulfill my shopping needs. Today winco gets a Zero. I had approximately $ 200 of groceries I waited in line while 2 in front of me. There was a problem with the cash register. A supervisor arrived empty the till and left with the first customer. I asked the lady in front of me what was going on, she did not know. The original cashier came back and told was okay, so I began putting my groceries on the counter. The original supervisor came back and yell at me to put my groceries back in the cart. IF the supervisor knew we would have to go to another register, WHY didn't he come and tell us. I was in line for over 30 minutes. He had plenty of time.
