We're transitioning from the big bulk membership stores because hey, we're "empty nesters" now! This Aldi location is on my new learning curve for where to find stuff. We're very happy with their own branded selections that rival our name brand favorites. Not exactly up the street for us but always worth the trip for fresh produce and essentials to fill our "Quarter in Quarter out" cart. BTW - This grocery cart concept was new to me. You won't find any carts scattered around the parking lot. I even had a gentleman offer to return my cart (and other carts as well). This way you see, he collects the twenty-five cents for its return - win win lol. read more

I've shopped at Aldi's before -- in other states and in Birmingham UK. It will never be on my regular weekly run -- I don't eat many bagged snacks, crackers, or candy. But I still enjoy occasionally looking to see what's dirt cheap. The store does a great job of keeping the aisles clean, the products neatly shelved, and the prices low. There's a mix of generic brands along with brands such as Ghirardelli. I have yet to figure out the "rules" at the checkout. Somehow you are forced to use the cart of the person before you and not the one you've been using to gather your purchases. Took me several visits before I noticed that there were bags to be had. Sturdy plastic ones for 10¢ and paper bags for 5¢. The need to get your quarter back means most carts are returned to the front of the store and not left randomly in the parking lot. read more

UPDATE 4/18/2018 There must be new management because Aldi's selection of whole grain products is now almost non existent. No more Multigrain cereal or MG mini bagels. Discounted food. Healthy whole grain cereal less than $1.50. Canned vegetables and fruit for less than 50 cents. Probably want to shop somewhere else for fresh/organic produce. You put a quarter in the slot on the cart to unlatch it for use. Then return the cart to retrieve your quarter. No more carts in the parking lot. read more

I love Aldi. This store in particular always seems to have a good selection of produce. I love their low prices and good quality!

When it comes to quality they have nothing to say. They have fair prices but not good products "you pay less for lower quality ". I like their ready to cook meals ,they worth the money. And they do not accept credit cards!! read more

Like other Yelper's, I too was hesitant to go into an Aldi. I was blown away at how awesome this place is once I went in though. The store is neat, the selection is great and the staff is very friendly. I don't know if I could do all my shopping here mainly because I'm picky about a few brand items. Aldi at Gaithersburg (Quince Orchard Rd) is the worse. Filthy, unorganized, long lines produce everywhere on the floor, very limited on baby food and don't get me started on the store manager. Very Rude, nasty, indifferent, angry with customers. Have no idea how to run a store. He should be fired or moved to another position. No people skills. I was told Aldi had cheap prices, but many times is better pay top price to get good service and product than terrible service and product. I was told by friends to try the one at Montgomery Village, its nicer, if the same, I will go back to my regular grocery store. read more

I love this place. You really get your money's worth and produce is fresh. Sometimes you can find brand name products and weekly sale items. True there are certain products you may not find or a huge verity but I don't feel that you compromise quality of food for the price you pay. As a single mom on a budget this is my go to store. Found Aldi when my family & I lived in Germany. It was already awesome having one in Germantown but it's even better having one closer in Quince Orchard. I love the prices and leave with a lot of food for very little money. Though they don't generally have "brand name" foods, for the most part, it tastes just as good. You won't find every single last thing on your shopping list here but they have a lot of food made in Germany which I'm okay with! Haven't had any issues with this new location yet so that's good! 5 star! read more

Update 9/27/18 - update. I rated Aldi 4 stars and just changed them to 5. They really upped their game. I used to have issues consistently finding fresh fruit like berries but that's no longer their game. I always find whatever I need fresh. Love love love. They opened another Aldi near me too. I like them all ! I was hesitant at first to go because I thought the food would be weird. Assuming you go to the store once a week, I find it best to go here every other week and then go to a normal grocery or maybe Costco for the other trips. Aldi has everything you would "need" - milk, bread, cheese, cereal, veggies, fruit, etc. Good - baby diapers are nice for daily use. I don't use them for bedtime because they are a little thinner than huggies/Kirkland brand. Their food brands are tasty. My picky husband approves. Lots of name brand candy and drinks. Very cheap and cute home goods stuff. I bought a CUTE 3 pack round mirror set for $6. They often have fisher price stuff like seats or cute toys. All very inexpensive. Neutral -They might not have your fav brand and they change their food options out like Costco does. Some stores have odd layouts and you bag your own stuff. Bad - Sometimes it's hard to find a container of berries that haven't gone bad. So I get my fruit from Costco or another grocery. read more

I admit I was like the guy that gave 2 stars thinking that this was just a store with knock off brands but there's so much more to Aldi's that I learned after doing a little research on Google. Now I am eternally grateful that we have an Aldi's to shop at! Quality of food is equal if not better and less expensive than what you'd find at a Giant, Shoppers, Target, etc. I think it's important to advertise why Aldi's is so inexpensive! Search up "Why Aldi is so cheap". Private labels to eliminate the middle man, no-frills design to eliminate the need for stocking shelves constantly, insane efficiency to the point where it needs fewer workers, and by putting the customer to work by requiring to deposit a quarter into the cart (obviously retrieving it once you put the cart back). Needless to say I am definitely a fan after learning more about the way the company works. read more

Ninety percent of the time I shop here and Costco/Sam's club. I love it. The produce is fresh, the prices are ridiculous and they have their specialty products that are a little more upscale like other grocers. Some people frown on Aldi like it's low budget or like Save-a-Lot or something but it isn't. The meat is high quality too and I have often found it to be better than Giant's. I mean milk for $1.59 a gallon with no hormones or antibiotics...where do they do that? read more

Let me start off by saying I like this location more than the Germantown location. This one seems cleaner and it just feels more welcoming. You can find some pretty good inexpensive things here. I haven't quite figured out how they price things yet. One day avocados are 59 cents, another it's $1.69 then another they're 99 cents. I'm guessing it depends on inventory but I'd like to know when they're 59 cents so I can hit up the store then. :) The only con is the parking! Awesome price, convenient, and friendly employees. I normally shop here after my gym session at LA Fitness. Today was an extraordinary visit, I came in fairly late and was the last to leave, they didn't rush me out, this nice gentleman who happened to be the manager, personally checked out my items and when I went to pay with my debit card, he asked if I wanted to use debit or credit, hellllooooo yes I was excited that they finally take credit cards now, so I can get reward points for using my card ^__^. This is more of a review on this specific aldis because I'm not going to take away credit for things that ALL aldis do (such as no credit cards or the bag your own stuff issue). it always seems clean, the staff is always friendly. I do feel a little rushed in the check out line though. I don't know if it's how fast they push the food from the scanner to your cart or what, but somehow I always feel like I need to fly out of there after paying. but overall great place read more

I've only been to this grocery store twice. A lot of people that shop here swear by it because of the prices but this isn't like your typical grocery's store. It reminds me of a discounted Costco because everything is in boxes. They sell a random variety of food, snacks, fruits, veggies, and frozen food. They even have basic things like paper towels, personal care and toys. And they are all weird discounted/generic brands I've never heard of. One peeve I had on a recent visit is that the cashier put all 5 of my items into a shopping cart after he rang it...rather than placing them in the reusable bag I had given him at checkout. I was in the area today and visited Aldi. I've seen the TV commercials and often wondered how they could rave over the store. I visited a newly opened store in another part of MD and was very disappointed with what I saw. I never returned to that location. Today is a new day, so I gave Aldi another chance. When I walked in, I was surprised at how clean and organized the store was. I saw a manager, Jenavia Wright and began asking some questions. She enlightened me about the mission of Aldi and said how much she enjoyed working there. I was very impressed with what Jenavia had to say and appreciated the pride she takes in her job. Although there is not an Aldi in my neighborhood, I will continue to visit the Quine Orchard location as often as I can. Best to my new friend Jenavia, and continue to make Aldi proud! read more

The store carries all that Aldi has to offer but wine /beer. The prizes for pantry staples and most everything else are lower than at Giant or Safeway. I have nothing but good stuff to say about this recently opened store. The prices are great, in fact, they ruin me from going to the Giant or the Safeway's which are many and closer but FAR MORE EXPENSIVE! I am so used to the prices at Aldi's I can't stand to go to anywhere else. Even the Walmart up the highway is more on a lot of stuff though it has a better selection. Try and buy what you need when they have it on sale and you can do really well. They had the 8 oz packs of White Mushrooms on sale last week for just 69 cents. Try buying those for anything like that kind of price anywhere else, and get a dozen like I did if you are into mushrooms. Highly recommended. And yes, by all means bring a quarter for the cart. read more

The pluses: *Decent-looking produce and meat. *Store was clean. *Good prices on nearly everything in the store--which primarily consists of store brands. *Easy parking--no stray carts or corrals taking up space in lot thanks to the quarter deposit. The negatives: *Selection. The size of the store (compared to a typical Giant/Safeway/Food Lion/Harris Teeter, let alone a Wegmans) should give you a pretty good indication when you enter that you may not find everything on your list. I went in for two specific items--canned seltzer water and real non-microwave popcorn. Normally you could find three or four brands of each at the big-boys. At Aldi, they simply don't stock either--not even a store brand. I'm not hung up on name brands--but it you are, they are the exception rather than the rule. *Staffing/Customer Service: Just one register operating for six customers waiting in line for several minutes. An employee who was stocking a shelf near the front of the store saw the line continuing to grow and continued to stock the shelf before deciding to open a second register. *Non-grocery items--do you really need to be selling random stuff like folding chairs when that's a whole aisle that could be devoted to improving food selection? The wrap-up: You take away the decent-looking produce and meat and random household items, and you're left with product selection that seems more along the lines of a large 7-Eleven than it does to a Giant or Safeway. Aldi does the job if I want to pick up a gallon of milk or a couple of pounds of hamburger at what I know will be a good or even great price. But once there's a non-staple item on my shopping list, I need to either budget time to possibly hit one of the big boys in addition to--or bite the bullet on price and go to one for everything instead of Aldi. read more

It was a small place but I've always experienced most of Aldi stores to be smaller. The set up was a little odd. There didn't seem to be the typical grocery store feel. But the sales items I guess are moved around. the veggies were actually pretty good for the price and I expect to get most of my veggies from here from now on. The checkout was ok. apparently around the time I posted this long-overdue review, ALDI changed its policy and began accepting credit cards (Visa & Mastercard; not sure about Amex). Quality of produce needs to improve for me to start shopping here more than once or twice per month.as I currently buy mostly non-perishable food, household items, e.g., dishwasher detergent, paper towels, some European cheese (gruyere or comte at about $8 per lb.). An inherent problem for ALDI due to its more outlying locations is that a larger percentage of its customers simply cannot afford a lot of fresh produce, so they don't turn over enough produce to ensure it's super fresh, which with berries & similar items is crucial. So like everyone else in our society, I am burning through time & gas to make several stops, including farmer's markets, to buy all my groceries. Hoping produce will improve over time. But the mandarins ("Cuties" brand) on a recent trip were excellent (3 lb. bag for $2.39 which beats Giant & Safeway in my area by almost 50%), even though I didn't buy any of the other fresh fruit due to poor appearance. read more
