Great place to stop and find interesting products and very good prices. This was our first time to shop Aldi and I'm glad we stopped in. They have all sorts of grocery products. It's just that they have limited variety. What they do have is very good quality and priced right. The produce area has about everything you would find anywhere else. The meat department is well stocked, but the frozen foods are very limited. Be prepared to supply your own bags or boxes for your purchases. You'll pay $.25 to get a cart, but you get it back when you return it. We're adding Aldi to our regular shopping schedule. read more

This Aldi was just OK (as the three stars denote). I stopped by last night after attending a birthday party next door at Martin's BBQ, having to pick up a few groceries and always looking forward to the chance to shop at an Aldi. This Aldi seemed more picked over than the others. Many of the produce bins seemed empty. I got the last container of blueberries that I could see. The seasonal food selection was not quite as large as what I've seen at the other Louisville stores. I usually come away with a few goodies I had not intended on buying -- not so much here. The bonus aisle that has home goods and other things you really don't need but are cheap and fun was sparse as well. I did find some of my favorites, though, including loaves of brioche bread and garlic bread. (I like bread, obvi.) I'll try to stop here again in the future to see if this was just a one-off or a common occurrence. read more

I enjoy shopping at Aldi since they've got great prices. I don't really love how busy this end of town is, but I came to get some fruits and a few other items. It was past 9am on a Thursday. It wasn't all that busy. I was a little disoriented though. The other Aldi I've been to in Columbus, Ohio is laid out a little differently so I was not as quick to get what I needed. Still, the store sells the same types of products and everything aisle is labeled well. I found parking pretty close to the entrance with no issue. East Enders, rejoice! For onto you comes, Aldi. All things good about low-cost food. Aldi is the brain child of some folks that wanted to provide a discount grocery experience. It is internationally based, and has definitely made a splash here in the states. The overhead is kept low so there may be some things you haven't experienced before at other grocery stores. You rent a cart here for 25 cents, you bring your own bags, or grab some of their boxes to take your goodies home. The cashiers are super efficient, so you won't spend much time in line either. Aldi has a lot of variety and generic items, along with a robust produce and dairy section. Finally, for those of you gluten-free, there are a lot of low priced options for you too! Once every two weeks or when I'm close by I stop into the Aldi store on Westport Rd in Louisville, KY. There are several items that are far cheaper than the bigger chain grocery stores. I find it particularly helpful to check out the spices and produce. Although the selection is modest you may find some of your favorites there at 1/2 the price; especially if you are on a specialized diet. Be prepared to pay 25 cents for a cart(refundable). I opt to take a banana box with me since I won't have a ridiculous amount of items (albeit a gallon of super cheap skim milk). I have shopped at other Aldi's in Louisville and have found that they 'Are not all created equal'. This one is by far more superior in its selections. My only 'lukewarm' purchase once was frozen salmon whose flavor had long left the fillets. Best to purchase that fresh. read more

I always knew a lot ABOUT Aldi, in the way that you may have heard of a city before visiting it, or hearing about a friend's friend before meeting them. When I studied in Germany, it was the place to go for unbelievable discounts. In fact, the name "Aldi" comes from "Albrecht Discount" after the Albrecht brothers who founded the chain. They were so smart with their business model that they became "the richest men in Germany" according to a friend of mine. Many Americans may already be familiar with a member of the Aldi family, namely their cousin Joe (as in Trader Joe's). My own personal acquaintance with Aldi occurred about a year ago. I was house-and cat-sitting for a friend. When I put away the portion of the wet cat food, what caught my eye in the fridge was the gorgeous produce in it. I figured she must shop at Whole Foods, it all looked so bright, enticing and organic. Imagine my shock when she told me it was all from Aldi! I checked it out on my next grocery run and made it part of my regular repertoire while living out of state. This new Aldi is true to the concept: no-frills, low prices, and organic foods all at wallet-friendly rates. I visited on the Grand Opening day and got a free reusable tote. The store was bright, clean and well-stocked with the great bargains I had gotten familiar with from when I used to shop there. This new location is convenient to the east end, and easily accessible even from areas like Lyndon via Westport Road. It stays true to the Aldi spirit of keeping operating costs low and passing the savings on to customers. If you go, here's what you need to know: -- bring a quarter to rent a cart (you get it back when you return the cart); this prevents an employee from having to chase carts instead of re-stock. It also prevents cars from becoming dinged up due to stray carts. -- bring your own bags (otherwise they charge you per bag); you pay for bags at other stores, it's just cached into other costs, such as higher grocery prices. -- pay with debit card or cash only; this reduces credit card charges on Aldi (which saves you money . . . So this is the big lots of the grocery world. If you go in looking for nothing in particular you will walk out with a ton of stuff! This places is good for lower prices on crackers, nuts and MILK ($.78 today!). I don't buy meat here as I am pretty picky about that. I love you for all the gluten free options, fresh produce, no high fructose corn syrup, MSG or nasty additives that everyone else wants to add to all my foods that make me worry that my children are going to end up sick from eating. Thank you for that. But then you tease me with your back shelf bargains. Some are a good deal - exercise ball for $9 where Wal-Mart sells them for $18 or a yoga mat for $7 or a decorative tp holder for $10. Seriously, good bargains but I don't need them but the deal is so good it is too hard to pass up sometimes. Also you make me look for love elsewhere sometimes - you don't have everything I need or came in for so I have to stop at another store. This store is definetely very different from other grocery stores, but I love coming here. First of all, the prices are unbeatable. If you don't care at all about brands or whatever, you can get all kinds of stuff for a lot cheaper than you will find at other stores with more selection. I would not come here expecting to find anything and everything like I would at say kroger or Meijer, but they do have a lot of stuff. I come here and stock up on my pantry items. That is where you really get the most bang for your buck. I come here and stock up on breakfast bars, trail mix, chips, almonds, basically all of my grab and go food items for lunches and stuff. Milk and produce is also very inexpensive here as well. They do not have bags, so make sure you bring your own reusable bags from home when you come! They do sell reusable bags at the counter. I honestly love Aldi. It has fantastic low prices, and grocery wise you can find it all here. They have a variety of organic, gluten free, veggies, frozen food etc. If you are not big on labels and brand name stuff, finding new yummy chocolates, snacks, and other goodies for half the price, then Aldi is for you. Before you go make sure you have a Quarter handy for the shopping cart. But don't worry you will get it back. It might be a hassle to some but it's actually a genius idea, it keeps their parking lot clean and clear of carts. You will have to push a quarter into the cart slot to release it and then after you are done just click it back into the cart row to get your quarter back. They also don't have plastic bags, you can buy some paper ones for cheap, or just use some of their empty boxes, or bring your own bags to bag yourself. I love it. I always find something new at Aldis and I never spend more than approximately $100 for groceries. Employees and cashiers are friendly and quick. The store is always clean too. I was afraid to shop at Aldi for a couple years because I had a bad experience at one (in a different part of town)- it was dirty and the food seemed pretty crappy. This one is way better though! I've worked it into my grocery store rotation, which is Trader Joe's, Kroger, an Asian store that changes based on what I need, and now here! What I like about Aldi's is that it's cheap, they have a lot of quality foods that are preservative free and even organic, and.. yeah, mostly that it's cheap and not crap! It's a great place to get pantry staples and frozen goods that are handy to have around. Some of my favorite things I've found here are the different frozen meats, pasta and sauces, and snacky things. Oh, and they actually have pretty good beer! Also for cheap! Sadly, even though most of their products are so cheap I always end up spending a ton because I justify it by the price. Last time I got sucked in by the frozen chicken; now I have bags of grilled chicken strips, buffalo chicken, and chicken breasts taking up a lot of my freezer. There are probably worse problems to have. My only complaints are that the selection is less than a bigger grocery store (but you should know that going in), the cashiers I've encountered haven't been very friendly, and the produce kinda sucks. The stock changes weekly, and sometimes something you really liked will be gone the next week, which is a bummer. And as for the cashiers- they are super fast, but not big on conversation and they THROW things down in the cart really hard which kind of irks me. Stacks everything on top of a take n bake pizza! not a frozen pizza! And says... I just load what comes down the belt first! People that work in the store look like they are miserable! First and last time I will ever patron this establishment. Arrived 15 minutes early prior to the opening of the store to only purchase sanitizing wipes. I found several containers with a limit of two sign. After going to four stores and not finding any sanitizing wipes, I happily got two containers and went to checkout. At checkout the wipes barcode would not scan so the clerk called for help. Two other employees went to the isle saying those were not for sale and they shouldn't be out and took the remainder of the containers to the office of the store. Then a employee came and grabbed the wipes from the clerk and said they weren't for sale. Keep in mind, these were not the industrial wipes for the store. They were single container wipes and marked as a item for sale. In a pandemic, I'm all for allowing grace, but this was wrong, frustrating, and unacceptable. Can't believe this store has decided to hoard it's items. read more
