Whenever I create listings in Manhattan, the joint is flooded with reviews by the time I get there myself. In this case, no one seems to be visiting this new Aldi, as it was nearly empty even during the grand opening that I mistakenly arrived during. Pretty much an identical store to the Lake Grove location, with 'bargain' prices on items that are far from unadulterated but not as diabolical as the other new 'market' on 58, Walmart. Given that I couldn't find $40 of items to use the $10 coupon they mailed us (nor even a single thing that we can't get at Costco or the same-company-owned TJs), I see no reason to go back unless I'm desperate for $2.49/gallon milk.

    Apparently not a joke

I don't like packaged deli meats, so I now have to go either to ALDI or King Kullen.

The store is not well-lit though it's a barn so take it with a grain of salt. They have some unique items if you take a look. Came here last year during the pandemic after Mother's Day weekend, there were plenty of plants and vegetable plants to choose from. Guess not a lot of people came to buy plants last year so we got a unique items last year including black cherry tomatoes, yellow watermelon, various types of lavenders, and bunch of other plants. We took a chance on a dried up banana tree that was for $10 and gave it as a gift as well as the other items we brought ($4 each, I believe). The tree survived. It's currently thriving and we are waiting for the tree to produce bananas. Last year and this year they also had baby chicks in the greenhouse. It's makes my day to see the chicks and you know it's Springtime. We went again this year after Mother's Day weekend and there were a few places and vegetables available. I picked up lavender grotto ($5), citronella ($5), and some succulents ($10). No dying or last leg plants this year. The choices were more limited since folks came out to buy the fruits and vegetables early this year now that places are opening up again. Guess we need to go early.

We get many of our plants and vegetables from this farm since we try to eat mostly organic. Inside the barn they have a lot of interesting things so it's definitely worth taking a look around in there. They also have things for the kids to do and you can eat outside on their picnic benches. It's a nice place to visit while you're driving down Sound Avenue. I recommend stopping and checking this place out.

Surprisingly this farm stand on the main road in Riverhead (in front of many of the chain stores)…read morerepresents an actual farm of 200 acres of farm land that is just north of the stores. The Anderson family was here long before the stores were sold prime road frontage in front of their big farm. They maintain a retail section themselves that represents the farm behind it all. The Anderson's run the farm, and peaches, nectarines, melons, red & yellow watermelon, green & red tomatoes, red onion, corn & more, are second to none. They also have a few extra buckets of peaches they sell for pies, but they looked just as good. I had passed this stand by for years when heading east on the north fork, thinking it some retailer.. then was surprised when I slowed down, learned there is a big real farm behind Target, and got great feedback from things brought back. Found myself coming back often when near. No credit cards. Real farmers are so cool to find in Long Island.
