I love all Aldis! This one happened to be convenient for me as I was in the area. Ample parking with EV charging available. Food selection is great. I love browsing their sake aisle of random things. My favorite is the produce section. It's clean and staff is friendly. I don't mind coming to this location when I'm in the area. read more

This Aldi in Rocky Hill is larger then other Aldi locations I've been to. You'll still find your basic staples, like fruits, vegetables, dairy and snacks. Aldi isn't a one stop shop for me. Their prices aren't comparable to any other store, they're the lowest around. Their products are always fresh. They even have a section of home decor, like a nice variety of candles, and some organizational units. Be sure to always have a quarter on hand, so you can get a shopping cart. Also be sure to come with your reusable bags, otherwise you'll have to look for an empty box around the store. This Aldi also has a good sized parking lot. It's pretty great if you ask me! read more

I love ALDIs. Great prices and high quality food - especially everyday staples. Cut our grocery bill in more than half! Very few items do I choose or must buy elsewhere, normally that's produce. I prefer South Windsor CT location over Rocky Hill, but I can get in/out faster at Rocky Hill since there is self-check out there. Bag your own groceries and don't forget to bring a quarter for your shopping cart! You get it back when you return cart to proper location. read more

Happy to have Aldi near my house ! Love to go here when i want to get in and get out and dont need tons of food. I just carry all my items without bothering to get a cart and when my arms are tired, i head to the register. The cashiers are always so friendly. The reason i dont give it 5 stars is because sometimes i need to pick thru the produce too long and that gets frustrating but it should be expected for how much $$ you are saving that the displays are not the same as Stop & Shop and you can never complete your entire list because there is always something i cant find, either a frozen vegetable i want or a particular snack. I'm super impressed with the expansion and the remodeling work they did at this Aldi. I've been having to go to the one on the Berlin Turnpike during the remodel so I was excited to swing by tonight. Since a huge snowstorm is hitting tomorrow, they've run out of a lot of their products, but it's obviously because of that and not due to lack of being well stocked up. The freezer section, gluten free section, and produce section are considerably larger, and I was excited to see such a wider selection available now. Will definitely be back after the storm for more shopping.! read more

Aldi's has come a long way from when it first opened in Rocky Hill years ago. I used to go in to get some "no name" non-perishable food items and peruse the meat and cheese section of the store. For some reason I stopped going - not sure why but it stopped being one of my "go to stores". Fast forward to a month or so ago when I was in Kohl's and my husband mentioned we needed some items for an upcoming dinner. We headed into the store and as much as it had not changed, so much of it had - and in the best possible way. In addition to being a one stop shop for "no name" and off name brands - Aldi's has stepped up it's game now offering consumers not only organic food items but also gluten free items as well. Everything from almond milk to goat cheese to natural peanut butter now shares the same shelf space as every other food item on Aldi's shelves. And their produce section - which once was laughable, now is comparable to what I would find at my local grocery store. Kudos to Aldi's - it's back on my grocery rotation read more

I love this store but they hate the management ! How many of you guys know that if you bought a product that was on sale and did not get the sale price that your item is for free and you get your money back. It's a law! Remember this ladies and gentlemen my husband picked up an item and this is exactly what happened the manager came over and wanted to give him back only the difference of the price he explained that the item is to be for free and he gets his money back she continued to harass my husband throughout the store and kicked him out of the store because she thought that he was scamming the store.. that's harassment ladies and gentlemen don't let anyone bully you the law is the law! The managers name was Catherine don't let her harass you if you find an item and bought it and did not get your sale price you get the item for free and your money back! read more

My review at the other "local" (Vernon, CT) Aldi location is completely appropriate for here as well. I am not going to repeat myself, so feel free to read my comments there. My main tip for this location is be very careful in the parking lot. It is usually empty and people drive insanely through it to get to the nearby Kohls parking lot. I have been nearly clipped on several occassions, and have watched other drivers nearly bump into parked cars several times. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this grocery store. Clean, bright. Great prices on produce. Interesting new brands and items to try. Frozen seafood is a bargain!!! I don't think this market could satisfy 100% of my weekly grocery needs but I will certainly be going here to buy the items I can and save some money! For those that do not know... ALDI also owns TRADER JOE'S! ALDI is a tremendously popular and hugely growing worldwide store (started in Germany by two brothers who still own, altho only one of them is active in the business)....They are billionaires who grew the business from a little grocery store in Germany and now are in a huge amount of countries. I am trying to find the url links to some amazing news stories my friend shared with me.....I will post an update when i can locate them. I am so thankful to a yelp friend of mine who turned me onto this place, the one time before I had decided to try it (after never having heard of it, and knowing they had this new location in Rocky hill). I walked in, took one look and said, "ewwww, this is all 'off name' scummy stuff, and its all open stock" (kind of like a 'Mini' Sams club but with no membership fees, other than the 25 cents for the carts, which you do receive back. and we prompty turned around and walked out. I thought, this is NOT what we were expecting!........Big Mistake! The whole beauty of this place is that is can be run with only a couple of employees in the store if need be...they try to run on very limited operating costs, which allows them to keep product costs low! The thing to do is to get on the mailing list, and each Saturday they send out the next weeks super deals (which run everything from electronics to toys, to foods, could be anything that they have a deal on).....and the trick is to get there Sun at 10am when they open, cuz they go FAST! For example....Hubby was there last Sunday for some Anchor Hocking glassware deals $8.88 for a 6 piece glass set of baking containers that also had snap on lids, that could go into freezer/dishwasher/oven. 5 mins after they opened, there was only a couple of them left.....Also got an awesome digital kitchen scale, that elsewhere sells for like 49 bucks and it was 14.99. Anyway, their trick is that they have major companies (like pillsbury, and big names like that) produce the same goods as they do, but under one of Aldi's own private label names. They also sell some things that u will recognize (Lean Cuisine for example, was 1.88 last week....each) Which is hugely cheaper than other stores. Anyway, if you love Trader Joes, you will love Aldi. and Aldi is blowing up all over this country, I think i read they will have a thousand US stores this yr. I know in Hartford, 3 or 4 have opened in just the past few months. Here is their International website, just to show you how many stores they have, in how many countries! http://www.aldi.com/ btw, one thing I really like, is their ''double guarantee''...if u don't like something, bring it back (even if only the empty package, and they will not only replace it, they will refund your money! That's unheard of! ALDI is ranked 25th in U.S. grocery chains in terms of gross sales--(per "Progressive Grocer"). They only carry about 1,400 or so of the most popular/ frequently purchased items, nearly all under their private labels. So, you probably can't do your WHOLE grocery list there, but you can do most of it, and the savings are worth the extra stop! Some stores even have fresh meats, and some locations sell beer and wine. Anyway, do not be a grocery store snob like I was...I am so glad my friend turned me onto this place! If you can ever find the news stories about the brothers, they make for fascinating reading (one of them was kidnapped in the 70s for like 5 million deutchmarks or something, and was released after the ransom was paid.....) They say he is a recluse now, ala Howard Hughes..... Anyway, that's just some interesting reading...the important thing is that this place can save u some serious coin, which is UBER important these days! LOL read more

This Aldi seems to be well run, clean, bright and usually well stocked. The selection is typical of most Aldi stores. One annoying complaint is if you buy an item you really like one week, it may not be there a week later ? There are some excellent bargains in all departments. Not everything is top quality but the prices are reasonable, so you can try different items. Also, if your really not satisfied with something, Aldi has a customer friendly return policy ( within reason ). One thing to be careful of at this particular Aldi is cars cross cutting the parking lot. I've had a couple of close calls ! Lastly, I've been going to this Aldi since it opened, most employees at this store have been great ! Friendly, helpful and efficient at their jobs. There usually is a line(s) at the checkout but cashiers are fast and friendly. read more

I seriously love this place. I'm amazed that it took me years to walk in the door. I visited once way back in college and it wasn't my cup of tea. I visited the wrong store obviously. This Aldi is pretty swanky. I love the fact that it's within walking distance to my house, that I know all of maybe 7 or 8 people that work here (as in, the employees don't change and they are actually NICE when you shop) and I love the fact that for half the price of a store like Big Y or Stop 'n Shop, you can grab the same brands of fruit here that are even FRESHER than their counterparts. That was my main concern when I started shopping here. In the months that I have been going about 2x per week to grab fruits and veggies, I have had ONE bad mandarin in a giant bag of mandarins. One. That's it. Yes, they have junk food if that's what you want. But, I LOVE their Fit and Active brand so it isn't all "generic crap food" as someone had posted in another review. My toddler loves walking around the first aisle because she is able to pick her snacks that she wants for the week. And it's a great place to do just that - animal crackers, trail mix, beef jerky, granola bars. I love grabbing the staples at this place. I always get my milk here. Where else can you buy milk for less than $3 a gallon consistently? You can't - plain and simple. I would definitely recommend. Bring a quarter for the cart rental if you plan on buying more than you can carry. Also, bring some reusable bags otherwise it's .10 for one of theirs. I'm just sorry I didn't find this place years ago. I REALLY love shopping here. Particularly because we are on a strict budget! read more

OMG it's true. Stuff here is cheap. Everything here feels cheap. They even let their cashiers sit while they check you because they can't afford the energy to stand up, they are that cheap. But you can get good stuff. I like the snacks, potato skins, beef jerky, I think they have pork rinds, milk is cheap. I'd steer clear of whatever that is over in the meat department but otherwise if you're looking for some cheap and tasty garbage to fill up your snack drawer and pantry (canned stuff!) this place is the bomb. read more

My first visit to Aldi was in Watertown NY in the 90's. Then lately Aldis have been popping up all over CT, including this one. Ive popped in a few times to see if there were any good deals--and my best find to date is the seafood! $6.99 for a pound of ocean scallops!! Shrimp, lobster, crab legs--very impressive. They do have a few name brand things, but most of their products are a generic label which Im told come from the same factory as the name brands but Im still wary...I bought a generic version of Lipton's butter noodles and they weren't the same--but it didnt scare me away from trying. I dont plan on doing my weekly shopping here, but I like to go every few weeks to see whats going on. Last time I visited was 12/30 in the evening and there was only one cashier and the line was 6 people long...there was a hiring sign outside though, hopefully that will fix the problem... Dont forget to bring your reusable bags! Although I bought a cloth bag at Aldis that was the best quality grocery bag I've got. Also they do not accept credit cards. read more

Love this place. Very reasonable. You get milk for 2.99 , 3 pound onions for 99 cents and sugar for a dollar and 70 cents. The store is neat , convenient location and it is right next to khols. With the money you save, you can purchase something for yourself from khols.lol. wild caught salmon is one of my favs which comes for 3.99 a pound. I have never had an issue with the quality of the goods at this store. You need to bring cash or use a debit card at the store as they do not accept credit card. I personally prefer to use cash as opposed to debit card (though it is a little difficult) due to all the hacking s at the retails that have been happening. Be sure to bring a quarter for the cart and your own shopping bags, but you can always buy reusable bags at the store. read more

i have always liked shopping at aldi.The milk and onions come at a great price .no where else near rocky hill do you get milk for $2.99 not even walmart.The onions come for around .99 cents for 3 pounds.The quality is also good except for tomatoes,it sometimes is overly ripe.This Aldi does not carry any alcoholic beverages. Love that they have been increasing their organic selection! This week alone, greek yogurts, cheeses, popcorn, tomato paste, oatmeal , chips, carrots , tomatoes, bananas , apples , just a few of the great organic items I got for significantly cheaper than many grocery stores, let alone organic food! (1.79 for organic popcorn, 1.19 organic carrots, and 1.19 for organic super fruit greek yogurt!) there is usually only one cashier but the store is always clean and the cashier is quick. read more

Pros: This is the best Aldi in the region. Prices are very good. Selection and quality vary, but many, many items are very good quality--better than can be found in other groceries. You do have to experiment to find the good values, and you will probably end up with a few duds. I highly recommend: -- the Baker's Secret cake mixes (the red velvet was phenomenal!) -- the Plain Greek Yogurt; --the sandwich cold cuts and cheeses; --Moser Roth dark chocolate; --Mama Cozzi's $2 pizzas; --English muffins for $1; --milk and eggs --kale and spinach; --meats--I've tried the ground turkey, pork tenderloin, and corned beef for St. Paddy's and all were excellent. The corned beef in particular was far superior to the same thing in our local store that prides itself on good meat. And it comes with the pickling spices, too. I can't ever seem to catch the grass-fed meat day so haven't tried that. --Don't miss the variable goods in the middle of the store. I found great quality gel bike seats; lap desks (bring those back, please!); a personal weight/bmi/body fat scale; a kitchen scale--all great quality and inexpensive. Cons: Some prices have been going up; much of the produce isn't refrigerated and some of it like the potatoes and onions get old fast; and the staff has become less friendly than they used to be (sorry; I know you're really busy). read more

I am absolutely outraged by the denial of responsibility the manager of this store has shown. Unfortunately on the afternoon of Oct. 27th 2009, when checking out my groceries found that I did not have enough on my debit card to complete the transaction. The clerk then suggested that I split the total between two cards. He took 70.oo out of my debit card and then told me that he could not accept a credit card to complete payment. I spoke to the manager, and he agreed to reverse the charges on my debit card. The system will not allow refunds and re-ringing the groceries would result in a whole new bill. The manager promised that the money would be in my account within 24 hours. Being a trusting soul, left the store with no groceries and 70.00 less on my card. After a couple of weeks I called my bank and filed a claim for the money that was never reimbursed. The Rocky Hill Aldi's manager has since denied the claim and refused to return my money. I have been told that I can pursue the matter on my own or write another letter to my bank and try the claim again. The whole process takes about 3 months! I think I may just pay that manager a visit face to face. These are hard times for everyone. Can't we just be honest at all? Have we just flushed all values down the toilet? read more

Reason why their cashiers get to sit while they ring up the groceries is not because they are tired, or the Company is cheap. This is a European Company and if you ever been to Europe, you would notice all cashiers get to sit down, unlike in the US where Companies do not treat their employees with respect. I am European and shop every week at Aldi food stores in West Hartford, Newington or even Rocky Hill, Ct. They brands are of excellent quality and you get to save a lot. read more
